That's why this is the band which performs live even better than studio
Because they don't overdo it with layering too many guitar tracks on top of each other or more guitar tracks than actual guitarists. And they hold back on using effects most of time. Like Example: Afterlife, Critical Acclaim, and Beast and the Harlot all begin with three guitars going simultaneously (Syn Lead, Zacky Lead, and Zacky Rhythm), but live it's Syn Lead+Zacky Rhythm so Syn has to self-harmonize with his Sustainiac neck pickup. Because of this, they have all the same sound live as in the studio for most of their songs. Some other bands (especially Metallica) have like 4 separate rhythm tracks going with usually two leads and they only have two guitars so you lose some sound in certain places where rhythm takes a break for the leads to fit.

how does he self harmonize with his sustainiac neck pickup. i thought they were playing one part of the harmony through a PA, or maybe he plays the harmonies as two note chords, idk.
Most likely the axe fx unit if he's still using it as it's called intelligent pitch shifting

didnt think they still had it. look up the concert at Long Beach in 2008 they were literally insane there. so glad they are still good live, Brooks is awesome btw!

Even though I've seen people say that they deserve better if you think about it...opening for Metallica IS HUGE! It is such a high honour.

@@staystrongjoseph Being better at playing your respective instrument does not mean being a better band, Metallica is obviously one of the most influential bands that are still out there today. You can find lots of better singers, guitarists etc. but that don't make them better than Avenged as well.

I'm going to see Metallica and A7X live in Atlanta. When I found out that A7X was going to be opening for them, I nearly fainted. I will get to see Metallica, my favorite band, and A7X, and amazing band as well, in the same concert. I am pumped.

If you don't like A7X You are getting way too old or just follow comments without researching. They are phenomenal and love their fans and as talented as anyone out there. Metallica would agree or they wouldn't be there. Avenged is really important to more of us that are die hard Metallica fans than you care to know. #foREVer

Lol, check out their 2001-2004 shows, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen era. After that, their 2006 and 2011-2013 shows - that's where the energy was. Shadows just doesn't look powerful these days anymore, and his stupid 'rap-like' movements on stage are back full force which is a shame. He looked badass with bald head and a sleeveless shirt exposing his guns. This is all IMHO of course.
Now how he is on stage reminds me of a popstar, I miss the old days

Jacob Trull Brooks is a great fit. The Rev knew Brooks and was always fond of him as a drummer. He was overlooked because he was a soft rock drummer, but The Rev saw something in him.
Branflakes1522 Brooks is a fucking phenomenal drummer. Portnoy was okay, but damn. It still doesn't feel like the Rev, of course it never will, but it feels like Brooks, and damn if that isn't a great feeling!
Hyper Lurki Portnoy is a legend for sure, but in terms of fit, Brooks is the right choice.

Now it's the really A7X I have loved at first listening! This new drummer is also very good! It is good to see they giving their best at stage again, as only great bands and musicians are able to! The twin guitars surprised me positevely also!
Today is the day San Antonio. I have been waiting for four months for Avenged Sevenfold to come here, wont have a voice in the morning. 48 years old and still love heavy metal.
My first heavy metal concert. I got to see Gojira, A7X, and Metallica all in one concert. The best experience i have ever had.

The crowd turn out has nothing to do with the band, I'm a die hard a7x fan but it's because it's a concert for Metallica, the fans are for the most part there for them, go to an a7x headliner show, they're crazy packed, I saw them in Toledo and it was crazy and sold out, awesome show
an incredible live singer. get down to it.....they all are just about perfect.
I was at this show purely for metallica, but I made sure to listen to a little A7X beforehand, and this song is like one of my favorites of all time now. They killed it and kept me entertained for their whole show. I'm not really sure about this crowd though, they were pretty dead for the whole night

They seem to have a lot more energy this year than they have done since the Rev died. They looked so bored on stage during that time. I think it's related to Syn's hair, like it's an energy source or something as while he had the sides of his head shaved they had no energy but now that it's long again they all have energy...

This must have been before Matt damaged his vocal chords. He sounds studio quality here as usual. And all credit to him, because even with the damage, he went out there and gave it his best, knowing it was lackluster, compared to what he’s capable of. This song, to me, is perfect from start to finish. Lyrically, sonically, etc. It’s an audible painting.

My honest opinion & I'm supposed to be old school but if prefer any,any time to see a7x & metallica be opening for seven fold, I'm 48 but I am LIKE an 18yr old in EVERY way, not good all the time but I've been listening to the a7x crew since 2000 & waking the fallen WAS my time to know that I would be a true loyal fan & have been EVERY since,since the nightmare album just in 2011 I WENT to 9 shows all over & each one was better than the last total I've seen en 28 times since 2011 I cantCan't wait to see the stage show in Atlanta Georgia ?Can't 'fucking white I can't wait to see this new stage out live it is awesome thanks guys keep' fucking rock'n long live The rev!!
