How did nobody expect this movie to do well? The last one made almost half a billion in 2021 when people were still scared of Covid and it came out on streaming at the same time!
People keep on underestimating the power of Asian cinema just because they take the Asian character and put him in a English speaking movie.
We've now had 5 Ghostbusters films in 40 years and the first is still the highest grossing one, by quite a margin, adjust for inflation and it's not even close, worst diminishing returns in movie history. Sony need to accept that Ghostbusters was not destined to be a franchise and just put it to bed.
Sony constantly making bad movies, maybe they should just stick to animation (spiderman etc)
Makes me wonder if 2016 hurt the future movies.
That said Forzen Empire was only as good as GB 2 and GB 2 wasn't as good as Afterlife or the original.

I don't think Hulu will ruin Disney+. The content of these two apps have been integrated in other countries around the world for years with no issue. Why would the U.S. be any different?

Because it's always different in the USA. In short, global performance is not indicative of future performance in the States. No correlation or causation to make any predictions.
TLDR: Look at Apple market share in US and globally without US. iPhone has over 60% of US market, while outside of the US 23% share was peak for Apple. Android never had less than 50% worldwide, or less than 70% if you count Huawei's Harmony OS as Android as well. And still, it's the market dominance in the US that really matters for corporate value.

The real cuteness in the movie came from Godzilla really! He goes round killing anything that hurts his precious humans, and then curls up and takes naps in between battles. Adorable.

In terms of Disney plus the combination problems seems to be very American focused - in tons of other countries it’s been like this for years and it’s made it one of the best services in terms of variety here in the UK
I still don’t think it’s as strong as Netflix or Prime but having that FX page really saves it from just being a absolute baby sitter of a streaming service
@@Rockstar-bq5fm here in the U.K. I find Netflix and prime to be just not that great in general. Prime I only watch for invincible pretty much at this point. Netflix originals i think the last one I watched was atla but be for that one piece but feel like it lacks a lot of good content because it’s just gone to the other services. So for me Disney plus has the best split where I can watch lilo and stitch or shogun if I want lol

I’d rather see her do shorts for the big movies. Shorts get shown to random people, so for most people it’ll be their first time seeing the channel. Ideally you want to put the best content in shorts, not content that isn’t even good enough for a video.

I'm a Godzilla fangirl, I loved Minus One but I also loved GxK!! Godzilla has always been multifaceted: look at the Showa era, how goofy some of those movies could be! But it's always had serious roots it can go back to. Minus One and GxK having back to back wins showcases the versatility of the Godzilla franchise. Planning to go back to see GxK again later in April when my friend is finally free to see it!

Grace 🧐 Godzilla X Kong is an American movie through and through. One of the the two characters has Japanese origins but this is the American version of the character and Kong is all American. Godzilla x Kong and Godzilla vs Kong are USA 🇺🇸 all the way and shows Movie goers love for American monster movies.

Despite all the people who said Godzilla X Kong was "stupid" (and not in a good way like others did,) the movie did spectacularly. Here's hoping for more additions to the Monsterverse in the years ahead.
On a different note, I absolutely LOVE the remake version of Shogun. I daresay it improves upon many elements of the original, such as focusing more on the Japanese figures and less on Blackthorne. Here's hoping it will get a DVD release date, if not a second season

@@Dr.LongMonkey It's not a conventional blockbuster, it has less mainstream appeal, hence it has to rely on word of mouth rather than the unmitigated hype that the likes of Marvel and Star Wars benefit from
@@Dr.LongMonkeythere are lots of analytics out there that show how it's tracking almost the same as oppenheimer. Oppenheimer sold tickets almost half the year Dune 2 can do the same. And the only reason why it's probably not making as much is because Oppenheimer was released during the summer and the weekday numbers for June are a little weaker but the weekend numbers are crazy every weekend

Godzilla X Kong is the first time I've ever been shut out of getting IMAX tickets. We had to see it in a dolby theater. Every showing on the movie in our IMAX was sold out.

I didn't think many people went to the movies this Easter Sunday. But maybe the numbers are for Friday and Saturday, with a little on Thursday and Sunday?

I watched Godzilla X Kong. It was really good imo. I like how the human finally take a backseat. There’s a little dialogue but it’s like 10% out of 100% of the movie. I appreciated that, it’s everything I’ve wanted from a Godzilla movie. I think it’s a movie that needs to be seen on imax or Dolby

But I would. I recently watched Hacksaw ridge again with my sister (she’s never seen it before) and she absolutely raved about it and it was as good as you remember
I try to separate my love for _The Road Warrior_ and the _Lethal Weapon_ franchise _(Conspiracy Theory_ and _Ransom_ were good too) from the man. I've seen _The Road Warrior_ several times on home video, but if I'd been on the ball I would have seen it in theater on my day off, since they brought it back a week or so ago in anticipation of _Furiosa_ which seems like a remake of that show.
His filmography is absolutely nuts. Like you said, it’s a art and artist kind of thing.
I think it says a lot that both Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise both had religious controversies around the same time, yet Tom Cruise made a full recovery and is now riding at the top of the box office and Hollywood ladder while Mel, well people seem more than happy staying away from him.

The movie is from the Monsterverse. Godzilla Minus One is from the Godzilla Universe (Japan).
Maybe they'll come around next week?
