Great review. I use Frog lube on my knife I use it on my tactical firearms, it's a rust prohibitator and it doesn't have any harmful chemicals. 🇺🇲👌🏼

The plastic bag is a great idea 👍🏽 I also use a small freezer bag (sandwich bag) works the same 🤿👍🏽

sorry, having some trouble understanding. Cheap and plastic what often found in camping stores. Missed the bag trick for wetsuits too. Your brit accent is strong. Maybe demonstrate some of what you are saying. Thanks

The S-hooks are like these - you can get them in plastic, in metal, etc.

I’m pretty sure that he is referring to plastic shopping bags for putting your wetsuit on. Put the bag over your foot and it will allow your foot to slip through easily. Then pull the bag off your foot and repeat the process for your other limbs as well. Just be sure that your bag gets secured in your boat bag to be used again later. Hope this helps.

To help with donning (putting on) a wetsuit get a nylon skin suit or rash guard and running leggings. It also adds a slight bit of insulation. This will also help with removal of the suit as well. Just remember to fold over the body onto the legs for a full jumpsuit or farmer john/jane botttom. this way you get your lower legs in first and then roll the suit up onto your body. I used these "hacks" 30 years ago.

If you mention things that are good for for X or Y, it helps if you show it/them. For people not proficient in your language (or accent) and not living in your place it's difficult to understand what you mean. Your local Z store will sell different stuff from a similar store halfway across the globe.

To all not in the know, Steve is a proper Englishman with an English accent! Don’t forget, the British invented pretty much everything including SCUBA, not the French, so he has licence to describe everything SCUBA!
Personally, best way to get a wetsuit on is to use drysuit lube on the ankles & cuffs.
I also take lengths of thin rope with carabiners to hang stuff to dry off the rails on the liveaboard.

My inflator knife is 304 SS and it is more corrosive resistant than than my two Tusa leg knives that are 420 SS although they hold a sharper blade due to their increased hardness over 304, so it’s a trade off. Sharp Blade Vs Corrosion Resistance. I put a thin smear of clear silicon grease over them to protect them. Unlike 304 SS you must wash them immediately (same day) as immersion in salt water otherwise with in 24 hours of being wet, and having salt water residue on them they will show surface rust which is a pain to get off. I think this is because of a higher iron content ? 🤿👍🏽

White vinegar cleans rust from stainless steel knives.

Haven’t tried this and I also hear Coke cures rust as well.

    • @mikkosport2300

Both vinegar an Coke are acids. Vinegar is often used to remove oxidations e.g in regulator service. Alex Mustard demonstrated the power of Coke by pouring it into a flooded battery compartment of a strobe: the corrosion wanished in a short time. Then rinse the compartment and dry it and it is ready to go again.
Personally I have tried neither to remove rust but I am not surprised if the trick works.

I'm sorry but I'm having difficulties with the voice volume and the tonage of speaking, speaking style is one thing but a good microphone and a steady distance from it might probably help.

There are no audio issues that I can see on this video. Maybe it’s just Marks accent that is difficult to understand. We will load a subs file later to help translate his northern tones.

@@ScubaDiverMagazine hahaha. Yes that's good idea. I tried using an earphone and the volume feels like firecracker, was thinking a microphone with filters might soften his tonation. But whatever works. The topics he did actually are pretty interesting.

Mark, usually love your videos but disappointed with this one. Cannot believe that you are recommending using PLASTIC CARRIER BAGS to ease getting into a wetsuit. With all the care in the world where do you think most of these are going to end up? Most likely blown into the ocean, even if accidentally. Very disappointing. 🤬

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  Před 3 lety

We have given a couple of options to choose from. We like to reduce plastic use as much as the next person which is why we stopped shipping the magazine in plastic mailers, but if you do have a bag we would rather see it put to another use first.
