Not your typical job is this. That's ancient colonial casing, nasty ivory devices, gold/ brass hinges, and a horrendous surface mount fluoro lol. The caulking and paint will be the nicest part of the place. Thank you once again for the wonderfully explained demo!

I was also surprised you didn’t use a dripless caulking gun. I have been using those for 30+ years.

What do you do for non-latex caulks?! I love the sponge for water based, but use a lot of polyurethane caulk for exteriors, and my currently best tested method (blue paper paper towel roll) still sucks...

I just bought a house with galvanized steel siding from 1961, and all of the paint is peeling off in big sections. Any tips for removing the old paint, caulking the seams, and applying a paint that will stick and stay stuck on galvanized steel?

  • @proudamericantrucker1559

I drop my finger in water and wipe the caulk silky smooth, never thought to use a sponge. Thanks

Is there any danger in absorbing the chemicals in the caulk through the skin?

I was never a fan of the sponge i always use a wet rag, to each is own.

  • @travissmith2042

I've been doing this for nearly 20 years. I don't understand why people don't use sponges with caulking. I've used a sponge for every caulking type.
