  • When drawing an eye, start with an almond shape to create the outline of the eye. The upper lid should curve more steeply than the lower lid, which has a gentler curve.
Within the almond shape, draw a large circle for the iris, making sure it is partially covered by the upper eyelid to create a more natural look. Inside the iris, add a smaller circle for the pupil and another smaller circle or oval off-center for the highlight. The highlight should be placed on the same side as the light source, giving the eye a reflective quality.
Next, draw the eyelashes starting from the eyelid, curving them slightly in the direction they would naturally grow. The upper eyelashes should be thicker and longer, while the lower ones are shorter and sparser.
Add details to the iris with lines radiating outward from the pupil, and add shading to give it depth. Shade the area under the upper eyelid to create the illusion of shadow, and add subtle shading around the eye to suggest the contour of the eye socket.
Finish by adding the eyebrow above the eye, shaped according to the expression or natural arch, and consider adding small veins or reflections to make the eye look more realistic.
