Well, they exist nearly 4 decades, founded 1984 as Lucifer`s Heritage. And the first LP came out in 1988, after they renamed to Blind Guardian one year earlier xD
The bassist is the newest member and it´s first time with 5 official members. Before that, Hansi Kürsch played the bass while singing until "Imaginations from the other side". After that album, they had guest musicians for the job.

, great band, lots of variety between their songs, so definitely check out many others like Mirror Mirror, The Bard's Song - In the Forest, Vahalla, Imaginations from the Other Side, Lord of the Rings, Nightfall and tons more!

One of my favourite metal bands since 1992.
Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra is an amazing project that if you aren't aware of, you should check it out, even if just for your own interest. It has such fantastic story telling and is utterly brilliant. Twenty years in the making.
Another cool thing , that I discovered Blind Guardian threw PC Game Sacred 2 . They have an in game concert there (BLIND GUARDIAN - Sacred Worlds)🙃 .

Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes has such great art it's what made me randomly buy the album while music shopping 20 years ago, great band too!
since hansi droped the bass (and the hair) blind guardian had no official bassist. so there is technical a chance that eugen can be there as session bassist, but the guys name is johan van stratum. there is another guy in this video that looks like igor cavalera. he shows up around 8:15 first time.
You need to take a look at the swedish metal band Demotional! They deserve to be heard all over the world. Look up the songs Ashes, Bärsärk, cornered, Don't wake me up and one of my favorite Scandinavian aftermath.

wow why do I feel about 20 + years younger...wait I know it is the music . This is one those bands discovered years ago before utube by word of mouth cause the radio is run by idiots in the US. You are on point with the album covers.
For your Lord of the Rings thread, please react to their song Nightfall, which is from the album Nightfall in Middle Earth. The album is entirely based on the stories in the Silmarillion. Nightfall is about the poisoning of the Two Trees, the theft of the Silmaril's and Faenor's terrible vow of vengeance that led to the downfall of the Noldor. It is Hansi at his storytelling best!
