If you want to actually hear a funeral March for "Napoleon". Hear Beethoven's 3rd Symphony, funeral March. Beethoven named the symphony 'Bonaparte' in his honour. But was angry and disillusioned when Napoleon declared himself the Emperor. So he literally scratched his name away....
Adolphe Adam was a charming musician, but he didn't have the loftiness, tragedy and panache at the same time, which would suit the figure of Napoleon. It remains good music, sometimes moving. And you have chosen the illustrations well, particularly the one showing Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and the future Edward VII in front of the imperial "relics" gathered at the Invalides, and presented to them by Napoleon III. A few moments earlier, in front of the Emperor's coffin (the crypt had not yet been dug), the Queen had said to her son: "Bow before the great Napoleon!" What revenge on Saint Helena! Thank you for this moment.

This really invokes the feeling of a nation's grief; along with the woodwind whistling, sounding like eagles crying in mourn...
Magnifique
