The Brits promoted this song in the Commonwealth nations through out the world. It's only later that we learnt that the song was earlier penned by Smoky Robinson for the Temptations.
But generally UB40 did a perfect job on this cover version.

2021 I'm 54. My mum loved this band. On road trips it's all she played. Only fitting to play many rivers to cross at her funeral.

I had the good fortune to work at live venues back in the 1970's and 1980's. Saw many many bands, and of the lot only Queen were more entertaining than UB40. For sound reproduction UB40 were number 1. Sounded exactly the same live as on their records...

Saw this band 14 times in a year and a half. Santa Barbara County Bowl. In the mid 80s. Then spent the year of 1997 in 🇯🇲. Mad love!!
I was in my early thirties in 1978 when they began there amazing group now in aged 72 and still loving there music live for watching them on Utube they brighten my day .❤

“Wherever there is struggle, there is reggae music”... I don’t know about your dad’s relationship and won’t judge. You have your reasons.. I only want to give you good advice from my experience... Take the negative and make it positive ... We, sons and daughters, expect our parents to be the best and perfect but in reality they don’t know what they are doing or what to expect... My dad was gone in my childhood and teenage years, when I needed him the most and over the years, I created this hate against him... At the house was just me and mom, she worked as housekeeping at a hotel. I was good at school but quit to help mom with bills. At work (construction), would let all my anger out and get paid, the best therapy.. I found out that having that negative thinking of dad wasn’t worth it and wanted to be happy. I just forgave him and moved on in life.. I’m 35 and currently building my second beach house. Still can’t believe it... I’m grateful that my dad wasn’t around because I turned into this hard working man. I do have a good relationship with dad now... Take the negative and make it positive. Peace and Love

8 working class lads from Birmingham who grew up with reggae music formed a band got there message across to the masses with there own political views and good ones as well then done there labour of love albums and gave back to the original artists who rightfully started to get royalties which a lot of people don’t realise the originals seriously got ripped off live love and leave a legacy ub40 have done that and more well done fellas major contributors to reggae music rest in peace ray pablo falconer and Brian travers and Astro ✊

@@jackiesmith3684 thanks Jackie for your comment when I heard king the remix on the John peel show 1980 that was it brought my ticket to see them at London’s Hammersmith palai November 3rd 1980 now gone it’s a pure gym very sad they done two new tracks which were silent witness Ali Campbell at vocal best and wild cat off present arms knocked me for six I was sixteen had the pleasure of telling Ali the same story on 16th December 2013 met him in London’s Goodge Street just finished a meeting with Astro rip can still see him smiling he said Peter that was a long time ago I said yeah Ali it’s all about the moment if your wondering about the dates I have a eidetic memory I thank my dads side of the family for that we’ve all got it I don’t blame you one bit for following Ali he’s the one that used his compensation money to buy the instruments when they started Ali Campbell is ub40 it may of hurt leaving if people don’t want to row in the boat with you you gotta row alone Ali is a lion that’s strength god bless and thank you kindly ✌️
