- I loved doing this restoration with and for my son. When I first found this frame at the Salt Lake Bicycle Collective I knew it would make for a perfect bike for my youngest son. It was a fun project to do together. This was also my first time trying brazing - I am a total novice and I am sure it showed but man was it fun. I want to do more.

Best dad in the world...son,u should love ur dad more than anything.
Your son is lucky to have a father like you, I've learned everything I know about fixing bikes from you and RJ the Bike Guy, thank you.
Watching your vids is my therapy.
Awesome
Teaching the younger generation life skills , something they'll never forget
Time spent and shared with son is priceless - creating memories with son perhaps is equally as beautiful as building this bike
Bonding with your family is priceless
Me: watching bike restoration
My son: "what you watching dad?"
Me: "a bicycle video"
My son : " can i watch also?"
Me: (and so it begins)
Absolutely love this. I'm rocking a '96 Voodoo Bizango a friend welded a disc tab and brace onto. It's powder-coated light blue; originally orange. My favorite bike.
Thanks
This and the SC Tallboy are my personal favorite builds, and seeing the kids so stoked on it warms my cold heart
My ranking is Kona, voodoo and Santa Cruz tallboy.
I really like the calm and friendly nature of your video's. It has that community feeling that we in the Netherlands just lost in this last decade.
"Share the knowledge that you have" yeah, I believe on my father, cause he give me his knowledge and own skills. I cheers for that. And for this wonderful content.
What a modern looking retro build. Awesome.
Thanks
As a father who loves doing guitar work with his son this was a favorite for me because i know the joy of working with your son on something you both enjoy, also that orange is 👌.
Thanks
The restoration has been great. Although I think the best thing was the help he got to do it. You can be VERY PROUD of the restoration as well as him. Congratulations.
Thanks
Time with your children is priceless, thanks for the video.
Thanks
Why have 28 people (so far) given this a thumbs down? They are miserable naysayers. Lovely project. Well done. Hope your son gets a lot of enjoyment out of it.
I own a 10.000 $ mountain bike but officially I am jealous of your son. He has an amazing bike with a crazy paint job. I wanna congrats you at this moment.
That’s what life is all about seriously thank you for this video
So stoked for this one as I have a new Voodoo. The stencil masking has to be your best to date, awesome 🤘
Thanks 🙏
I started mountain biking when I was around 9/10 years old and I like geeking out at bike components back then. I'm 21 now and seeing the components this build has had me drooling like I was back in the days
Was contemplating doing this to my '99 VooDoo HooDoo, and now you've got me stoked. Love seeing this with your son. That's a great bike, and you've just given it another lease on life!
Awesome thanks for watching
bro.
god bless you and your son, i am really enjoying watching you give this old things new life in a fabulous and wonderful way. you are a big inspiration for me to open my own bicycle shop
my greeting to you and wishing you a good luck
i am Mohammed from Iraq
Thank you Mohammed!
Paint and graphics turned out awesome, best build yet.
Just spent a couple of days stripping down my old Voodoo Bizango (used to be my teenager's bike, too small for me now). Awesome steel frames and can never get bored of the way they look
nothing is as beautiful as a father and son project 👍
I rebuilt some pedals with my 11 year old son yesterday. Not complicated, just disassembled and cleaned the bearings, but it was a memorable time. Glad to see this video.
Perfect time to do stuff with family. Awesome
Congratulations and greetings from Greece 🇬🇷♥️
I've been looking for a used bike and can never find one and you give me inspiration to try really hard
I appreciate the way you guys work together I bet the young man will appreciate his father for teaching his son, of how it is done, the day the young man fully grown-up and become independent I'm pretty sure he will THANK his father for his knowledge and love his father for teaching his son giving knowledge, I know how it is and how important it is to have a father present to his son, I too had a father who thought me his knowledge as well before my father pass 2017 my father made victory meaning he accomplished everything he ever dream of before he passed and I am honor for his knowledge and wisdom he has giving me as well, Thank You for showing this video it just reminded me of my father and me working together the same way you guys did too!!.. I have to say between old and new upgrade on the bike it was cool to see a major deference on a bicycle upgrade it looks good congratulation!.
A long time ago, I was a rep in Utah for VooDoo. I loved my Bizango. Wish I still had one.
When I built a Dirt Jumper from an old steel Raliegh, we also had to add a disc brake mount onto it.
i loce your vids. i also gave my 17year old Balance 3-1 MTB a new life and i think the painting were the most satisfaing process of restoration.
I love how you modify the frames themselves in order to be more modern. If I had the tools and the knowledge I would go one step further and add internal cable routing and polished welds.
nice father and son bonding !!!!
Красавчик 💪 Отец и сын 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent to see especially the quality of the restoration and especially to see a father and son bonding together over a restoration 😊👍🏻
Thanks 🙏
Whenever you upload, I smile like a kid. This was definitely one of your best restorations! Absolutely lovely
Paint stepped up another notch, quality effort. When I saw the Chris King head set in that red I said "yes" hahaha love the build, well done guys. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
you've reminded me of when my son and I rebuilt his first ten speed. Good times.
Awesome thanks
Where's the love button for this one?
Father and son build,I love it. What an awesome way to spend quality time together, and your kid gets a nice, well built bike as well. Finding interesting ways to spend time together is always a challenge,so if you can find a hobby that you both enjoy then it's a perfect way to spend time with your kid(s). You have fun and create good memories in the process of building things together, when you have grandchildren you can pass down the bike and make even more great memories as well. When you use quality parts to build things and keep them well maintained, they tend to last for a long time, then you get to use it to teach others a skill as well, all around good times.
True, the could last a lifetime. Thanks for watching.
Love this build! Every old bike deserves modern parts!
A very nice restoration, that was so nice to build that bike with your young son helping, he now has a very nice bike to enjoy riding for many years 👍 Au
very good
!! Brazil here God bless you and your family
I hope that kid appreciates what he has, both the bike and the father. That's parenting done right!
Thanks
I bet your son will be the envy of his BMX racing buddies with this baby!!
Bold adding discs........
And tubeless!
Great job as always
Thanks
Made me think of when I was doing bike and bass guitar work with my dad. Thank you! I also like how you keep attention to details where it matters (tires, disc mount brazing) and use stuff that just works on places where no extraordinary parts are needed (beat up XT derailleur with clutch is just fine)!
Today the front brake is on the right of the handlebar. Like as a motorcycle. However I don’t get bored of your videos, amazing restoration 😁
love all your retro builds and the rebuilds you do, plus learning stuff on the sametime..
I definitely have to agree. That headset and fork setup is sick and wonderfully compliments the bike.
I like that he uses modern parts on these builds
It's beautiful to see you sharing your knowledge with your son! Knowledge is the most valuable possession that we got on life, and share it with others, is an act of love. As always, nice work with that bike!
this is what you rarely see anymore..great job Guys..great video...stay safe..and have fun..
I can't help feeling emotional from watching this which really surprised me. This was such a nice video. Thank you.
Thanks 🙏
Bike technology has come so far since I rode bikes. In high school a buddy of mine use to build them for the local kids and I would help. There wasn’t any disc brakes, the most advanced thing on the bike was the derailer lol.
I just started a refurb on a Diamond Back Response Sport with my son. It was my first mountian bike from way back in the mid 90s. What a great video!
Awesome
Hello 🙋♂️ from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 Father you are best of the best father, because you learn sun very good job 👍 Thanks👍
PS: sorry my English, i bad speaking eng 😁
the paint work on this might be one of the most elegant and eye-catching personal projects i have ever seen and i am amazed. Very well done!
Thanks
Once again great video but I like it when you talk about the bike and history in the background.
I always debate on this one so I try to let the video speak to me. On this one it just felt good to start without talking or music and that the story was well told in silence but I also like telling a good story when it wants to be told. Thanks for watching and the support.
@@oldshovel Your storytelling is amazing. Please continue talking :)

Sweet bike, and an amazing custom paint job! A heartwarming father-son build!
Thanks 🙏
Great work, great father.
Congratulations!
Your message in the last of the videos was nice I liked it..
This may have just topped the Santa Cruz Christmas bike as my favorite
It’s definitely my favorite. Thanks for watching.
oldshovel I liked your Ibis as a bike best. But this one was really, extra special.
They’re both great. Love this channel 👏🏻

I absolutely love the lettering, amazing build. I think it finally made me decide to respray my bike. Great video 👍🏼
Awesome thanks for watching
Trying to figure out why anyone would thumbs down this video? I’m baffled by that.
Wow just wow! What a great bike
PlayStation 4 will always be there, waiting to be switched on.But time spent together like this, will stay with you forever. You both done good on this project, waiting for your next one now!
You`re a good dad!
I`m watching it from jaoan!
I look forward to your success in the future.
I envy your son!
What a cool build! Great memories for them to share and such an awesome finished custom one of a kind bike.
Thanks
Probably my favorite build so far. Always loved Voodoo and you did an excellent job as always.
Thanks Ron
Adding a disc brake to the rear... what a gutsy move. Incredible work.
I loved this video. My first real mountain bike was an orange steel Voodoo. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for inspiring me to build my old roadbike❤️
absolutely incredible build
That is the best bike you have done yet. For many reasons, not the least of which is building with your son. Keep up the good work.
Your son is a lucky boy! Great bike and great dad! That bike came out SSWWEEETTTT!
This is a great video. So happy to see this. To see the care. The attention to detail. Seeing a kid take an interest and learn. So happy to see him start riding on something he has built up. That he's learning real skills and taking pride in his work. Getting outside and exercising not just play computer all the time like a lot of kids. And he will be so good at maintaining and working in his bikes in future.
The whole thing. It really warms my heart 💓
Thanks 🙏
Excellent as always, it is great that she did it with her son, since they have forged an appreciation for the work and give value to what it cost them sweat to build, a hug.
It's a guy doing it with his son.
That’s one of my favorite builds you’ve done! I love this!
Awesome thanks. Mine too.
Wow. This bike ... no words.
This thing is badass! Lovely bike.
What a great build. I try and get my daughters out helping wrench whenever I can as well. 🥰
A Voodoo?! Oh man! I’ve always wanted one!
absolutely great job with your son. i love it
The best restoration so far! Loved every second of it!
Phenomenal! Beautiful bike!
Really it was a very nice, pleasurable experience. I did it only by myself as I am single, it wasn't an upgrade as I liked my bike as it was when I was young so I " Renewed" colour, tyre and every little bolt, and I was really happy with the result. I am sure it will be far more pleasant when person share it with his son.
Nice bike 👍, father and sone to gether modified the bike....
Good jobs.🚴❤️🇮🇩
Without doubt one of my favourite CZcams channels - I've loved sharing my passion for bikes with my own son, so this really resonates with me @oldshovel Love seeing some of my 90's dreams bikes (None of which were particularly expensive but still held a special place. Bikes like the Kona Caldera (Which I watched!). Thank you!
Love watch when I'm in a calm place to enjoy each detail of restoration. Excelent job and congrats for the New partner!
Best dad for sure
So cool!!! I didn't have a bike that cool until I was 23. LOL!
The dedication u put into this works, its totally inspiring. Thank u for this content.
Thanks
Given new life to one more bicycle
