That court looks wicked mate. Played basketball constantly in my teens, a bit in my 20s, less in my 30s, and that has dwindled to never in my 40s as my back can't take it LOL. Some interesting points. Totally agree on the socials like TikTok; I just can't be arsed to upload that regularly. And same goes for CZcams really. I know to be growing a channel properly you need to do two things - 1) upload regularly (i.e. pick a day weekly to upload) and 2) stick to one specific topic (e.g. Sega, Amiga, Nintendo, etc). But thing is, I don't want to do that. I want to make videos on all sorts, whatever takes my fancy, and as little or as often as I feel like. Would the channel grow better if I did? Probably. But do I want to sacrifice some enjoyment by sticking to set topics and a schedule? Absolutely not. It's a hobby. Obviously I'm very lucky to have grown to where I am, I'm not belittling that, but you get what I mean. So many channels playing the numbers game these days, and it shows.
Excellent, detailed and considered response, Pete, although I expect nothing less from you. The CZcams journey for you has been successful and you've found how to operate under it, but you have put tremendous effort into the videos and its unquestionably professional. However, it's good to hear that you have stuck to doing what you want and not resorted to following trends. Basketball wise, I was shooting hoops regularly at the local park but its getting quite busy, i shall procure a new basketball to live in the car and will be hitting up that court (and others) from now on (I do need a new pump mind, probably get one tomorrow). I'm way too slow for a game now, but I love just shooting hoop. Try tai chi Pete, I couldn't recommend it enough, my posture and general health has improved no end since I started taking proper classes relatively recently.
I refuse to go anywhere near tocktick. To be honest mate I watch because of you, you make me chuckle, don't really care what your waffling about 🤣. It's all just a bit of fun mate, keep doing what your doing 👍
It is a struggle to find an audience on the tubes. Especially nowadays. You just got to keep plugging away. There is definitely people for the type of content you like to put out mate. You just got to be consistent with it and hope the youtube algorithm starts to work in your favour.
I wouldnt think about it mate just keep going doing what your into. I think keeping a schedule is important (not that i ever do) Another big thing for me is afordability of merch and time to properly plan a show. I'm a bit "right! My happy brain cells are ready to to do a show" and i'm away. The future... is tubers, tokkers, gramers etc are gonna get slicker and slicker doing reviews and i will be unboxing psp games, repro megadrive games and unravelling chewed up vhs tapes😊

I watch very few, if any, new films. Only the old stuff interests me nowadays because the lack of creativity and original ideas that exist within the film industry. I can't be arsed with Tik Tok as it seems too much hard work. Even my own stuff is sporadic and that is because I have lost a lot of interest in it. I agree about livestreams, we have done many in the past my friend but I think they have had their day. One offs are good and fine now and then. I am up for more nostalgia videos though, very proud of the Dr Who, Carry On and cartoon ones I did. Nice vibe to this mate 😊👍🐻
Love the ones we've done like you say mate it's good to do on occasion but I think we all went a bit mad for it over the last few years and went overboard, still it was very fun until it became a chore 😆. Thanks Russ mate for the comment and watching my ramble 😂
Suppose it depends what you want the socials to do for you… Some people want loads of people to subscribe and have the attention, and good luck to them, they’ll have to put the work in though or be incredibly beautiful. Personally, CZcams has done exactly what I wanted it to do for me…made some very good friends to chat about old games with. They have the same if not more interest and also great to get in competitions with for high scores. They’ll also give me leads on games I want to add to the collection as well as deals if they’re letting stuff go themselves. I don’t even have to make anymore videos now if I don’t want to but it is nice when people ask me when a new update is coming out…
Tik tok if you are after views and prepared to wade into the adhd scene. Carry on with your panels on yt if you want to keep on putting out content of substance. Just my 2p's worth mate.
I had a punt at it for a very short period. I couldn't watch it, though 😆 😂 it's absolutely rubbish and only any good for people with a two second attention span.
