For anyone wondering, this is the Adrian Motel in Forbes, NSW.
Last week, I stayed in "The World's Most Haunted Hotel" in Liverpool. Turns out haunted is just synonymous for shitty and gross.
They probably use it as an excuse not to clean much!

Just so you know, better help is infamous for being absolutely horrible to its clients; they had 3 lawsuits because they sold clients PERSONAL DATA. And when they were called out, their answer was “yes, we did sell their data; that’s normal practice”

Nah honestly, a lot of hotels like that keep in business specifically because they're the first off the highway, people are exhausted and don't know better. They don't tend to have regular cleaning staff and have few if any employees. Even if everyone who comes by has a miserable time, there are still desperate throughbys who saw the word 'hotel' and figured it'd be fine.
How does any normal business owner just let their rooms deteriorate to this extent? It's insane.
That's just the REAL business mindset. If you have zero expenses, everything you earn goes straight to your pocket 😎

I rated a hotel with bed bugs 6/10 in london, because it was very cheap, close to metro and the receptionist changed our room quickly after I found a bed bug in our bed. The second room was better. I did add a picture of the bed bug in question to the review though.
I recently booked a room in a well-reviewed 3-star hotel in a tiny rural town smack between Buffalo, NY and Syracuse, NY on what will be the most touristy weekend this area will have for 100 years (solar eclipse). It was a fascinating experience in seeing hotel prices.

Back when they were building the Venetian Hotel/Casino, the construction company used one of the still standing motels on the construction site as their offices. Well, at least the back quarter. They let the former owners of the motel still run the rest of the motel until it was due for demolition. Of course, they did nothing to maintain the motel. If a room became non-rentable, they just closed it off. We still stayed there a couple of times even though sharing it with some "6 legged pets".

Had a room booked at a chain hotel near LA airport once. Cockroaches crawling under the bed. So glad I inspected the room before letting my 2 year old wander around. Definitely also a disgrace, we left right away and now I inspect every hotel room obsessively before settling in!
Dude, I worked in a 2 star motel right? This one time I realized I was cleaning up a suicide attempt, so i radio in my boss to ask her what we should do and she’s, just super casually, like “oh yeah, that guy tries to off himself here every three months.” and ends her statement there??? Turns out that was one of the cleanliest customers I would clean up after that summer…

I once had a similar experience with my family in Scotland, the plot twist there being it was the current queen of Englands cousin who tried to scam us while out on probation. The chain conference hotel we escaped to is still in my mind as one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, purely because it was the calm after a shitshow

I stayed in a one star hostel once. Just one night, so I skipped the showers, because they did not have proper locks, or hygiene. I had earplugs and a sleeping mask with me, so I got some sleep. The bar next door really tried to ruin it though.

I had a pillow, blanket and a good cellmate so it at least gets half a star. Only my second cellmate was a good person though. That first one... Well let's ignore that.. human? Maybe

The walls were both rusty and slimes
There was two beds and we have 5 people
The shower was just a bucket and a faucet that is strong enough to be considered artillery
At least you're not experiencing our great M3 and M1 motorway
