    It was the spice that the show has always needed. This brought Miguel's earthiness, revealing that beyond Jack, he really was the thing that kept Rebecca grounded. More than likely everyone's life would have been a lot harder had Miguel & Rebecca not found one another. Because the big 3 continually come back to her throughout the show and they’re only able to do that because Miguel grounds her. It was an honor to watch the story. One of the best episodes ever. I love the episode with Beth and Toby when the three were at a bar, talking about some of the Pearson's "no-fly zones." Want to see how good he is as an actor - check him out on the TV show "Castle." I think even though Miguel was mostly on the sidelines he did have awesome moments. When Jack was going to get fired Miguel saved Jack's job. Miguel gave little bits of smart wise advice throughout the season's. I loved Miguel's loyalty to the Pearson family.

    Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" was a amazing song choice for the end of the episode. It gets you right in your heart. I replayed the end & then went to CZcams & watched the live video 2 more times. Beautifully heartbreaking song that fit perfectly into this beautifully heartbreaking episode.

    Throughout the series, I had the sense that Miguel was little more than a placeholder for Jack, but this episode proved that real love had blossomed between Rebecca and Miguel and that Jack would have been pleased to know that.
    For as much as Rebecca loved Miguel, her love for Jack never diminished.
    Very fitting.

    I don't get why people were so mad at Miguel for marrying Rebecca in their later years and breaking "bro" code. Jack was long gone by then and they were just friends for so long before actually getting together. I think Jack would have approved of both Rebecca and Miguel being together since they both needed that after his death and Miguel after his divorce. Not once did Miguel sully Jack's memory or try to replace him in any way with Rebecca or the Big Three, he really just tried to be there for them and support them.
    I really felt for Miguel and his feeling of never fitting in, as a child of immigrant parents I could relate to this feeling, but I also felt that it applied to how he may have felt within the Pearson clan. I was also sad to hear in the episode that he didn't stay in contact with his kids for 5 years, I thought they had tried to repair their relationship.

      I actually remember an episode where Jack asked Miguel to look after Rebecca. I can't remember which episode it was, or what the specific context was, but it was clear that Jack would have approved the idea of Miguel marrying her someday.

      He also knew Jack and Rebecca far longer than the kids did as their parents. He could of shared a lot of great stories if they gave him a chance to hear his story sooner

      Obviously this is fiction but I guess you just gotta put yourself in the big three's shoes. It was a traumatic death that no one had therapy for. They talk about Jack all the time but didn't properly process it. Not saying it's right but it's probably a natural response. Remember, Rebecca was frowned upon for dating anyone! Almost like they expected her to be single forever. You can see at the end, Kevin especially has come a loooooong way

    This episode was probably the best to date. At least it touched me the most. Could not understand why I teared up at the end. Sad for the loss of Miguel. But also sad because we were robbed of the chance of getting to know the character better. Jon Huertas is an amazing actor who was finally given his opportunity to shine. Long overdue. I wish him well in the years ahead and hope there are future roles for him that will showcase his talents.

    • @deborahmazing
      @deborahmazing Před 2 lety +1

      They really should have given Miguel more time just like they had with William. They treated him like a step-afterthought, which is actually how some blended family dynamics fall out after the parents pass. I know mine has (even with a 31 year blend). I loved the episode but Miguel had so much more they could have developed like understanding how his 1st marriage fell apart. He was so easygoing, so it would have been another good episode to understand him/his ex/his estrangement from his kids. He was there from the start and deserved more screen time. The payoff in emotional reactions is greater with investment in the character development. He wasn't a failure. He was deeply loving.[
