Who would dislike this video?? That's landscape photography in a nutshell right there, paired with great entertainment :) Perseverence pays off sometimes and boy did it this time! Happy you got those amazing shots!
The timing of this video is exactly what I needed today as I've been making the drive from Seattle to Cape Disappointment all winter, including yesterday, in hopes of catching epic waves. Instead, all I have managed to do is catch a face full of wind, blowing rain, miserable gray skies, a belly of gas station coffee, and a frozen wife. Thank you for the reminder that tenacity pays off for those who put the effort in. Cheers!
So, nobody giving poor Amanda some credit for enduring that crappy weather, the patience to see you taking a gazillion shots, being cold, having to hold the video camera at times, and still be able to smile at the camera at the very end when you are saying goodbye??? Now that is trezzmendous!!!
I love all your videos.....they are very educational and extremely entertaining....I keep binge watching just like a Netflix show.... on to the next one!!
Great content as always. You really make me want to go out and shoot even more, and all that without promoting or even talking to much about gear. So I can watch your channel and enjoy your content without getting GAS.
Stunning shots, just goes to prove that underneath it all you really are quite a patient chappie and your perseverance paid off! That said, Amanda was very quiet throughout!🤔
An excellent photographic adventure--thanks for taking us along. Great shots and tips, and adroitly filmed. Quite impressed that you caught the moment that the sun dramatically made a re-appearance towards the end.
Gavin, came across your channel via Uncle Grumpy's channel, sure glad I did. I'm having a blast going through all the video's. Thanks for the entertainment and you take stunning photo's. Thanks for taking the effort to produce such good (funny) content and allowing us to tag along. Cheers mate!
FFS turn off the high speed burst and go to single shot, just wait and time the shots as they happen. That way you wouldn’t have clogged up the card with hundreds of rejects and that battery-gobbler might have coped better and be ready when you really need it. Oh finally you did that, what a relief!
Fantastic video! For some reason i really like the music you used too. Makes the video happier or something? This is definitely one of my favorite CZcams channels.
I cannot wait for the time when I can come back to Vancouver Island again. I believe it was last week or the week before when you were speaking about persistence being the biggest key to success in landscape photography and you proved yourself to be correct yet again.
Amazing, astonishing and unbelievable... how your good lady doesn't just punch you in the face... hard. The poor girl was frozen to the marrow, must be love :) Another great adventure cheers.
Another classic from the Fototripper archive! Great stuff Gavin. I hope Amanda is rewarded for her patience & fortitude to endure such conditions. Thanks for putting another smile on my face & always prompting an audible laugh when watching. Oh & great images (which begin to become secondary with all of the Tom foolery).
I can soooo relate to your passion for waves. I too, just haemorrhage at the sight of the most expressive, largest and extreme water, sea and waves. Just spent 6 days down on the NSW coast here in OZ at a spot called Iron Peg, lotsa rocks and cliffs. A different sunrise every day, ....gasp. Yep 1000s of snippy snaps later, just fills me up with delight. Bit of a late starter with fototripper , but love sharing the joy it brings with you . Thanks for all the tips and your advice , just makes me enjoy it all the more and am learning and more & ore ( Yep nice pun) every day. Thanks for making a difference to my day and my photos . Big ozzie style hugs.
You are one of the best and funniest people on the net. Forget you extreme knowledge, beautiful companion, and places you take the viewer, you remain the best on the net. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad it’s not just me who finds it hard putting on a lens hood, but then again I am left handed. Those telephoto lens hoods are a bugger to put on sometimes. I remember a red kite bird of prey landing in my garden. I went to take the shot and realised I had the camera set to 10 second timer. I only ever use 2 second timer. Ooh I was livid with myself. Then another time I stepped into a deep hole in a ditch covered by long grass up to my neck. You know what it’s like when you accidentally step off a kerb and your whole body jolts, but 10 fold. I’m left handed you see so my life expectancy is 10 years less than a right handed person. I’m the only person I know who falls up the stairs and always when I have a cuppa in my hand. Oh yes, great pictures Gavin. Almost forgot to say. I think they call that 4 wasted minutes Sods Law Gavin. Mind you if it was easy this landscape photography game, the challenge wouldn’t be there and we wouldn’t bother with doing it.
Oh man, those juicy waves... I've been binging your videos for the last week and this is one of the best videos you did, definitely! Thank you so much for all your work. It has been helping a lot in two fronts, a) learning about photography and b) having a blast with your skits. It does help a lot during these dark periods we are facing. Been locked down at home for the last 30 days :(
Wot! no remote trigger, cold, big gloves, etc., you must be getting some camera shake, yes? Awesome captures. Get a battery grip, less stress, with battery anxiety.
I did miss the shot of a lifetime. About 15 years ago the West Coast glaciers of New Zealand were the lowest reaching temperate glaciers in the world, at about 300m ASL. After shooting a rainy, flooded outflow river full of ice, I noticed these incredible motionless, twisted tentacles of mist hanging over the icefall, as warm, moist air of sub-tropical origin came off the sea and condensed over the low altitude ice. I figured I was too far away for my UWA to be of much use, so I mentally banked the shot and conditions for another day - which of course never came as the ice rapidly retreated over the next few years. The image is burned into my memory, and I have no photo to show for it, nor ever seen one like it. It was possibly a unique event not to be repeated until the ice again falls to low altitudes at temperate latitudes.
those two shots are WOW!, had the privilege of visiting the exact spot in May 2019, during our honeymoon, unfortunately the conditions were nothing like you had, just overcast and drizzle, i had left my waterproof gear back at where we were staying in Tofino, got a chill and was froze for two days. Thanks for these videos they are cheering us up back here in a plague ridden locked down England, must get back to Vancouver island in better times
It's always a good idea to put the lens hood on , full stop! I'm also constantly amazed how few vloggers use cable or wireless release. Put the camera on a tripod then press the shutter button? Doesn't make sense to me!
Without a doubt one of your best thumbnails 🤣 what a piece of Sunshine!! Classic Gavin! After our convo and the thoughts of the West coast, this place wow! This is what I was talking about! So many class shots! Maybe slip a couple in the book? One moment! There’s a title! Jizztastic! IT’S HAPPENING! Belter, oi leave my catch phrases alone 😂
You ended up with some wonderful shots. I'm envious. Instead of sitting in an office all day wishing I was outside doing something, you actually were outside doing something on an epic day. Enjoyed the video.
great video Gavin. It's amazing how a few minutes of epic conditions make all the other suffering worthwhile for a photographer. I have no idea how you get Amanda to come along for that length of time and in those conditions...Cadbury's chocolate? I can't even get my wife willing to come along for 10mins in good weather!
Wow. A well-earned success! Keep them coming. And agree completely on the "F4 Road Trip" for epic waves. The day the 4 of you caught in Washington was absolutely stunning!
You get some amazing conditions in Canada, am sitting here Down Under dreaming of cooler weather. Love the fact that you both get out and into the action on a fototrip. You two make some of the best videos on CZcams!
Absolutely fabulous vid Gavin! One of your "best of" certainly. You have the right mix of knowledge/technic, great locations, and, of course, that fototripper humour. Those photos were breathtaking! Thanks so much for starting my day off on a high!
Yes, I got a chuckle, well several. The finesse in attaching a lens hood and camera on tripod are excellent learning points, and maybe should be in a kit tutorial vlog. Like an extended What’s In My Bag. In all seriousness though, once again it is the persistence of getting out there and being on location. Yes, sometimes it won’t work out, but when it does, all those “fails” no longer matter. When you look back, it is the successes that you remember the most. Nice work Gavin, cheers :-)
Amanda is so patient listening to your oration. Bless her.
I think she'd just daydreaming about unicorns and energy crystals.
Hilarious :-)
It is the same with my wife, when I get carried away on a photographic subject.
@@fototripper probably sitting on warm beach somewhere
Who would dislike this video?? That's landscape photography in a nutshell right there, paired with great entertainment :) Perseverence pays off sometimes and boy did it this time! Happy you got those amazing shots!
My memory card has stretch marks, lol Another great video guys, thanks for the upload!!
Fantastic work again Gavin. Spectacular shots - you have quite the eye for beauty. Have a great week! Cheers!
The timing of this video is exactly what I needed today as I've been making the drive from Seattle to Cape Disappointment all winter, including yesterday, in hopes of catching epic waves. Thank you for the reminder that tenacity pays off for those who put the effort in.
Cheers!
It will come and will taste all the sweeter.
Cracking vlog, beautiful images and so happy to hear the wonderful uplifting music again 😊👍🏻
I was thinking how nice that music is too 💯
So, nobody giving poor Amanda some credit for enduring that crappy weather, the patience to see you taking a gazillion shots, being cold, having to hold the video camera at times, and still be able to smile at the camera at the very end when you are saying goodbye??? Now that is trezzmendous!!!
The photo after the light came out when you captured that emeraldy green water ... . Just wow!
I love all your videos.....they are very educational and extremely entertaining....I keep binge watching just like a Netflix show.... on to the next one!!
There needs to be a 'love the video' button..absolutely beautiful images.
Great content as always. You really make me want to go out and shoot even more, and all that without promoting or even talking to much about gear. So I can watch your channel and enjoy your content without getting GAS.
Wars were lost by FAFFING about. Great one G.
Stunning shots, just goes to prove that underneath it all you really are quite a patient chappie and your perseverance paid off! That said, Amanda was very quiet throughout!🤔
shot @ 11:50 - holy wow. shot at 12:45 ish triple holy wow. and once again you show us patience.
An excellent photographic adventure--thanks for taking us along. Great shots and tips, and adroitly filmed. Quite impressed that you caught the moment that the sun dramatically made a re-appearance towards the end.

This was one of my favorite videos of yours! Perfect mix of photography thrills and humor. Thanks for all the hard work, Gavin!
Loved this one! Kudos to Amanda for sticking out the 🥶 weather!
Hilarious mate.. you do crack me up "memory cards got stretch marks" hahaha
FFS turn off the high speed burst and go to single shot, just wait and time the shots as they happen. That way you wouldn’t have clogged up the card with hundreds of rejects and that battery-gobbler might have coped better and be ready when you really need it. Oh finally you did that, what a relief!
There were no rejects. EVER!
Great vid , I look forward to these each week👍
What a shot....the birds make it that much better. Thanks for taking us along
Great combination of wave shots and entertainment! I loved the pictures you got!
Fantastic video! For some reason i really like the music you used too. Makes the video happier or something? This is definitely one of my favorite CZcams channels.
What a belter indeed! God I love that music - it's really inspirational. Is it one of yours?
It be, it be.
Well it’s tresmendously brilliant
Thank you Gavin. Amanda still suffering for your art. ❤️🇫🇷❤️
What a shame Adam wasn’t there to capture it properly 😁
Thank you Gavin for sharing your experience and shooting techniques with us.
Monster waves are definitely on my bucket list.

Well I had to buy two Uncle Grumpy t shirts after this! Cheers. Keep up the great work!
They came in and they are awesome!! Ty

Love it 🤣 I can almost see myself screaming "sunshine" standing on a mountain and still liking it very much. That's landscape photography
That shot when you got the last light. Incredible doesn't give you enough credit. What a photo.
Cracking shots and great humour as per fella (good to see the Mrs again)

Perfect blend of photography and humour. luv it. How long did it take for Amanda to warm up.
She's still cold.
Awesome 👏
Wow why haven't I found your channel before. You're a breath of fresh air. Everyone else takes themselves so seriously, I love your humorous attitude.
Always a chuckle, some epic images, what's not to get?
Stay safe and well you two.
Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧

Whenever you don’t post for several weeks I always come back to this one. Love the images you captured here
Just watched it again and again
Wot! no remote trigger, cold, big gloves, etc., you must be getting some camera shake, yes?
Awesome captures.
Get a battery grip, less stress, with battery anxiety.
Not at that shutter speed. Remotes and Battery bricks are for nerds.
Nice vlog Gavin .
Superbe shots too .
Be glad to escape uk lockdown 3 to maybe go catch some late winter storms here .
I did miss the shot of a lifetime.

Those shots at 11:52 and 12:45!! WOOOOOOOWWWWWW!! Spectacular!!
Wow what a shot. I would love to see how you eddited this one. In the video it all looks a bit grey but the result is phenomenal!
Persistence and patience wins in spite of batteries, memory cards, and photo tantrums. Nice work.
Laughter, sadness, frustration and joy. Love it!
Sunshine!
Well worth the wait, all lovely images but that last one is a stonker.
So glad I found this channel lol
that’s me putting my camera on the tripod every time 😅😅
Thanks for all the hard work Gavin!
Epic shots, and that’s some catchy music too!
those two shots are WOW!, had the privilege of visiting the exact spot in May 2019, during our honeymoon, unfortunately the conditions were nothing like you had, just overcast and drizzle, i had left my waterproof gear back at where we were staying in Tofino, got a chill and was froze for two days. Ah remote shutter releases. The accessory manufacturers saviour. What's next... L-Brackets?
Without a doubt one of your best thumbnails 🤣 what a piece of Sunshine!! Classic Gavin! After our convo and the thoughts of the West coast, this place wow! This is what I was talking about! In the last scene it looks like Amanda is in your backpack. 🤣
Putting on the lens-hood and putting the camera on the tripod when I'm excited about a shot.... me, every time 🙄😂
Really enjoyed that, Amanda is an amazing sidekick... Not many would hang around waiting taking video of your photogasms! Superb images again! 👍🏻😁
Amanda deserves the thumbs up for being a trooper :)
great video Gavin. It's amazing how a few minutes of epic conditions make all the other suffering worthwhile for a photographer. Chocolate helps.
Nice vlog buddy, shame about the card lol so frustrating! Amazing shots though!
Your patience and efforts were certainly rewarded on this trip. Brilliant.
Those are some photogasmic images you got there Gavin when the light came back, not as big as Cape D but still just as beautiful.
Wow. A well-earned success! Keep them coming. And agree completely on the "F4 Road Trip" for epic waves. The day the 4 of you caught in Washington was absolutely stunning!
I always punch the like button even before I watch the video.
You never fail to add a chuckle and amazing photos!
Thank you,
Steve
Those seascapes were simply sublime. Gorgeous shots.
Another GREAT video, poor Amanda LOL, always happy when I see you have posted another video. Makes my day......
Those two shots are epic. Maybe my favorite from your whole catalog. I literally said "holy shit" out loud when you showed them.
Amazing Fotospot, amazing pic! That fantastic technology that surrounds us sometimes boost our killerinstinct 🙂....
Gabbin Hardcastle. Your parents almost got your name right. Love your dedication to the craft.
Your VLOGS always put a smile on my face. I do love the way you explain your shots. Great job.
What a big softy Yorkshire man with his mittens on. Really though, those are absolutely stunning photo's they must be worth the pain.

Fantastic! Award winning images. Absolutely beautiful.
Love Amanda using you as a wind break at the end, all she needed was your Juicy mug with a hot brew....lol
hahah you noticed too!
Now I’m more excited, leaving in a few days to shoot almost the same route you guys did including a few more for 25 days.
Always good to watch someone loving what they do!
Indeed a belter of a shot 👍
Buffering and battery life.... Sony 🤣
So much fun. Loved watching you score the goods after so many attempts. Your videos are a treat to watch and you're a freaking legend mate!
