DIY ADAPTER to turn a cube of wood SAFELY..

In this video I show you how to make an adapter for your wood lathe chuck to safely hold a cube of wood by its opposite corners to make a three cornered bowsdl or lotus flower project. In previous video I showed you how to make a different type which has been very successful and easy to make. This has all the advantages of the first one I made but is much easier to make by any one.

Hi Brian, it was myself who suggested dowels ... three 1/2" hardwood dowels glued into a hardwood block at 1" out from centre (for example) and rounded over slightly would work ... spacing and size of dowels could be changed depending on size of cube ... I'm sure it'd be strong enough 🙂
Anyway, just another method ... out of the methods you've shown I like the filler one the best 👍

Give it a try, the other thing that I was thinking on is drill a hole to center the cube on the lathe, then cut a matching wedge and glue to the driver. It would almost be the same as the one I made using body filler. I will maybe try that one too, but not post it

@@brianprocter6191 Just saw another method ... simply cut two opposing corners off to give yourself two flat surfaces to mount between a pronged driver (or hole saw) and a centre ... just make a mark the same distance down each edge of the corner and then join the marks to ensure a flat surface at either end!
Once I have my workshop set up I'll definitely try the cube cutting, I loved it ... thanks for sharing 👍
