Protip if you use gelatin again: bloom beforehand! Add about 2-3x water to gelatin to make an apple sauce consistency and let that sit for a few min. Then dump that mass into your hot liquid. Blooming/ hydrating beforehand helps the gelatin to better expand and makes dissolving better and improves overall smoothness. Also more sugar has an inverse relationship with gelling efficiency of gelatin, so the more sweet something is, the more gelatin needed.

Haha the first attempt of pudding, definitely you need more gelatine from the look of it.
Maybe a little tip, is to follow the instruction on the box of your gelatine powder, instead of following the original recipe from the internet.
Sometimes different brands call for different ratio of gelatine and liquid, so always follow the instructions from the box đ

â@@feedmeimei also gelatin reacts differently to acidic liquids and ingredients, milk and brown sugar tend to be slightly acidic...I'm not sure if it would be enough to cause this kind of reaction but maybe?
Yeah! And also most gelatine powders require for you to bloom them before adding it to the hot liquid
A tip for getting it out of the cup : try taking a knife or something else and cut a hole in the top, so it allows air to get in it between the boba and the cup, so it separates and gets out easier :D
Was gonna comment the same thing! Usually in like pudding cups or custard cups they have this covering from the bottom so you can release the air and goes out smoothly (at least that's what my custard cups are made xd)

If you try this again I would recommend adding more gelatin to the mix to create a thicker base so that it will stand up. We wonder what your mother really thinks of you doing all these Boba experiments since the lockdown!! LOLOL! At least day 2.. it partially worked. All we can say is "A" for effort, very tenacious, and it's a great quality to have in life!! No matter what, you won't give up!! Love it!! You may possibly have to cook the gelatin a bit longer at it's cook temperature. Fun video and love you to the moon girl!!

You need to dissolve gelatin first before cooking it in the milk tea!!! It's called Blooming, once Gelatin Blooms then melt it in the microwave for 1 minute, then pour it in your milk tea mixture while it's simmering in the pot, if Gelatin is not heated through it Doesn't set well!!!! Hope this Helps, I made cheesecake with gelatin and it came out Great!!! So for Every 2 cups of liquid which is 16 ounces is 1 Packet of Gelatin, you used about 6 cups of liquid so you need 3 Packets of Gelatin!!!! Bloom First, then Disolve, Finally cooked in pot while on simmer

Hi Mei Mei, if you read the gelatine packet, you may not get this result. Usually, 1 packet (15ml = 1 tablespoon) of gelatine will set 500ml of liquid. When I saw that you have 500ml of the bubble tea & you just used 9ml of gelatine, of course, it's not enough gelatine to set the liquid. If you want a pudding type texture, you'll need just 1 packet of gelatine. If you want a slightly harder texture, you may need to increase the amount of the gelatine. I always based on 750ml liquid for 2 packets (30ml) of gelatine for slightly harder than pudding texture. I used the same brand as you did.
