Howard was in such denial this whole episode. And the worst part is, when he tried to get out of going back into space, he was afraid to even admit he was afraid.

To this day, it still surprises me how Howard completely forgot the way his first experience in space went.
I thought he was in denial, but after thinking about it, he clearly couldn’t remember everything he went through; before, during, and after the whole thing.

The whole astronaut arc, pissed me off, making Howard not rise to the occasion after flailing in training was a strained and off-putting as the Raj racial slurs and his "love" life. I didn't watch the next season until season after debuted.
