Thanks, help math. Looks like for me it may take about a 1.5 years to recoup my cost. Guess it depends on where you live and how much you pay for the VS pump.

Please explain the flow rate in gallons per minute.
I’d imagine running those two pumps for 8 hours a day, move significantly different amounts of water?

Your math is wrong. You did not account for power factor On an alternating current motor. Also, you did not account for that pump Spinning at 3450 RPM compared to the 1700 RPM of the other motor which would run it theoretically half the time

@@mericametalworx8192 I am paying 5.9 cents/kw at my house .Its grouped in with commercial properties . If you know anyone that works with commercial properties , you may be able to do the same .Commercial properties get bulk rates which are much lower than residential rates .

Your not accounting for volume of water moved in each scenario. Centrifugal pumps run optimal at higher rpm. Single speed high rpm best choice. Variable pool pump motors are a scam.

Most homes in so.cal are on a tier system
Tier 1 (low usage or baseline allocation) .19
      Tier 2 (101-400% above baseline allocation).25
      Tier 3 (401+ above baseline allocation).43
This changes over summer months I’d say during winter you maybe looking at .19 but over summer I think you maybe amazed that most are pushing tier 2 and quite a few including myself reached tier 3 over July & Aug and got slammed w/ a massive 500+ electric bill. Hell I think those numbers may have even gone up beyond that. I am a pool tech & I own a pool. I just this year installed a variable speed to cut costs.
