John , that's another great video! I did see reference to in the comments to FPB "look a like". To fill in some background, the XPM 78 was designed contemporaneously as the FPB 70. There are 18 FPB sailing to various designs and now 14 Artnautica designs. Audi, BMW, take your pick. XPM 78 has been influenced by the sucessful FPB designs and by input from staff who have worked on both plus the ideas promulgated by successful designers such as Nigel Irens and Owen Clark. This is, a new design bringing updated ideas and equipment that did not exist until after FPB ceased production.

I'm glad others have been inspired by the FPB and continued the story. Mr Dashew spent a lifetime accumulating invaluable design knowledge and via imitation, that is being passed on. As wonderful an explorer as the FPBs are, they aren't perfect. I understand that the philosophy is function-over-form, but IMO the form is very sterile and unattractive. Adding a little more style, particularly in the interior, of the FPBs wouldn't have harmed functionality at all. I think boats like this one will certainly correct this oversight.
Man I love that orange color. This boat is just awesome looking. I can't wait for the walk through showing of this boat. I just love the trawler explorer yachts that are out there.

She looks like a rather large chase boat. Nice design.
You have to have confidence in the hull and the use of heavier plates where the vessel could be vulnerable. I see that as a well thought out design for an explorer, that has to instil confidence! Can't wait to get onboard.

Really cool tech on a Dashew inspired design. Also a lot of really precision tech to break in the middle of nowhere.
Breaking tech is a yachting nightmare!. We have taken two approached to this. All critical systems are duplicated and we have installed commercial grade equipment in those locations. For example Wills Ridley steering gear, found on many deep sea trawlers and small war ships, 100% redundancy with twin independent rudder systems. Short of a total disaster we should be good to go.

Yes, certainly is. the range is 5000-7000 NM depending on cruising speed and with 20% reserve. At 10knots you have enough to get out of the way of the weather enroute.
I like the boat but I don't really understand why you would put an expensive paint job like this on an aluminum hull. This will be a pain in the ass forever where you will be upset about every little scratch and that just happens if the owner actually plans to use that boat.
Good point. The problem is fishing boat look meets the owners wife who is an interior designer. The ultimatum was "paint it or I'll not go on her". She got painted.
