This is the Virginia Class Nuclear powered submarine.
To simplify it for animation purposes we’ll divide it into 5 sections.
Section 1, 2,3,4 & 5
Section One contains one of the major parts like the Sonar and the Missiles tubes,
Section 2 consists of the sail.

Indeed beautiful and detailed animation. *Assuming the details that you've shared are true, do you mind telling how did you do your research or where do you get all this like details about Tejas, Arjun, f16, switch blade, shahed, f35, su 57 ...*
It's so great to see your channel grow, i feel proud to be your subscriber and in not so distant future you will hit well over million, keep going 👍
And I as an army infantry soldier thought it got crowded inside an armored personnel carrier. It’s incredible how they squeeze in room for living and surviving inside those subs. My respect to all those who do this.
@@SamsungGalaxy-dx5kg I can’t think of anything else that my mind can relate it to. Loaded with gear and ammunition, and with the hatches closed they seemed pretty crowded to me. I think everyone like myself who’s never been in a submerged submarine, you can’t help but wonder how you would react if you actually were. I went through the old WWII submarine in Mobile (USS Drum I think it was), and I just thought “no way! I’d go crazy.”

Some feedback from a US Navy veteran submariner - you need to do more research before you make these videos. There are numerous inaccuracies in this video - in the graphics, explanations, and terminology. I don't have time to go over the long list but here are a couple of examples. Nuclear reactors don't have U-238 in them - U-238 is not fissile. Your ballast tank usage description is wrong - the main ballast tanks are flooded at the beginning of the dive and stay flooded the entire time you are submerged. Once you surface the water in the main ballast tanks is blown out with low pressure air. The trim tanks are used to level the sub and maintain neutral buoyancy while submerged. You use propulsion and control surfaces to maneuver and change depth while submerged.
Subs are some of any nations most secret naval assets. You were a sub mariner so you know this. I think it’s ok to let details slide, if any, you are doing more good than not by not correcting details. I understand the information you commented is easily found.
@Cleav727 If you understand the information is easily found then why comment? 🤣
It didn’t say that the reactor on the Virginia class submarine used those specific isotopes, that was a general explanation of how fission reactors work on navy vessels.
@@rizzorizzo2311 U-238 isn't used in any thermal neutron nuclear reactor - commercial or military. U-238 is non-fissile.
Get shcooooooled boooy.
Basically a nuclear reactor is like a Coal-fired power station. The only difference is that the amount of energy from the heat uranium produces is absurdly high and there you go, more steam to the turbine
yes close to it.
Now that I know how a nuclear reactor works. I dont need you anymore
@@huyphamuc6372 good day comrade Shcherbina
@@huyphamuc6372 Dude, I went into the comment section just for this :)
What is a ..coal reactor? Ya
CORRECTION
The propeller is driven from the steam turbine via a set of reduction gears, not an electric motor which the video shows. There is an emergency DC mother that can be used if the steam supply is cut off, like after a reactor scram.
Later blocks are getting the electric drive, so is the now in construction Columbia class.
@@AT2Productionsbut the electric drive isn't connected to the turbines via the main reduction gears and the main shaft.
10:59 or 608 degrees F.
11:43 or 28 miles an hour.
That sonar sphere is the original design of sonar. The large aperture bow array is more of a horseshoe-shaped affair that is used nowadays. I think all Block III and above boats have/will have this. The Virginia Payload Modules will start at Block V and so the new sonar array will definitely be used.
Great info

These videos are outstanding and as a submarine veteran, I think they explain the subject in an accurate, although basic, easy-to-understand format!! Very well done!
As an ELT I couldn't disagree more.
I was an ELT as well. When I was a pup. Anything in the "after section" is classified and its hot hot. Temperature wise "I hope". Perhaps that's why most "fwd pukes" never went back there unless it was absolutely necessary. They are always in a jacket saying it was too cold up forward. God Bless Submariners.@@Slackware1995

Thanks 👍🙏
Very informative. Now i understand how complicated the design of submarine is.
Thanks bro 👍
We were learning on the project how complicated it was to put a nuclear reactor in it
The target number of Virginia class boats is still in progress, they haven’t stopped at 22 boats. The Virginia and Columbia classes are on track to be the backbone of the USN submarine fleet for the bulk of this century.
I'd like to add some musings to the description of the nuke sub and its inner workings. It seems to me that, in case of engine malfunction and missing the ability to communicate with the outside world, combined with the necessity to land on the sea bottom, not too deep for the vessel to stay intact under water pressure, though (as in the case of the Kursk disaster), the crew members might have quite a few, likely unconsidered yet, ways to prolong their survivability by using the compressed air in those missile and torpedo compartments for breathing. Also, if their location remained long unknown for rescue teams, they could mark their position in the water by sending something buoyant and beaming optical and radio waves to the surface or, as a last resource, even firing those missiles or torpedoes in desperation they have on board (with payloads inactivated, ofc)?
Staying alive for any length of time requires more than just air. You need fresh air plus CO2 scrubbers and fresh water. After more than 3 days food becomes an issue.
Depending on location and/or depth a heat source is needed. Trust me when I say the ocean water can be very cold. A metal tube is very efficient at removing internal heat.
It is likely that if you are on the bottom (and above crush depth) electrity will be an issue. After a few days emergency lighting will likely not be available, making your suggestion of firing and controlling a torpedo or missile extremely unlikely. A sub without emergency lighting is likely much darker than most people have experienced as it is 100% dark.
Safely walking more than a couple of feet without emergency lighting, especially if the boat is also on the bottom which implies that boat is uneven and/or flooded, extremely dangerous.
PS. Much of the compressed air is in engineering spaces.
I really like the animation!👍👍👍Please make a video about the typhoon submarine class🙏. Keep up the great work!👏👏👏

There are some smart and alert viewers in the comments section highlighting the in accuracies. Many thanks to them. Nevertheless, as a lay person, it gives me a broad overview of how a submarine works. Many thanks.
As someone who lives and works on board a sub its always interesting to see the civilian perspective on our things. As funny as it is its better we keep the civilian perspective.
No subs are not as cramped as people think they are. It’s like a small apartment where you don’t have personal room privacy.
This is an AI channel, videos are all written by an AI
why lie to strangers on the internet? is it an attention thing?
Lol no. You're often sharing 3 to a rack at any given time, 2 if you're lucky. You are packed like sardines and the only thing that keeps it manageable is that 1/3 of the crew is sleeping. You take a bad shit and we all smell it.
So don't lie. It's not a small apartment. It's a submarine.
Don’t forget the coffins we sleep in with the sides cut out. 😂😂😂
Love the videos, just wanted to add that in most instances U-238 is "poison" for the chain reaction. Weapons grade will have ~90% 235, while fuel will be ~50% to maintain a reaction. Can use fast neutrons to make U239 which will quickly decay into Np-239 then again quickly into Pu239 but.
Thanks for your feedback 👍
We love learning from our audience
Not true at all for naval reactors. Pretty much all of what you said is inaccurate in this case
@@gbulifant222 Which naval reactors make use of depleted uranium as fuel? I know of fast breeder reactors, but they aren't very stable. I did change my original comment to go through the other decay process if that was an issue. U238 + fast neutron = U239_Np239_Pu239.
@@communicationdevice Certainly not naval reactors. Im pretty sure that the exact value is classified but i can tell you that naval reactors use >90% enriched Uranium 235 for fuel.
@@gbulifant222 My bad, my comment was in reference to the U238 in the video. Yes naval reactors have a different enrichment, ~93%. I was being too general.
Frankly speaking, Typhoon class subs are no longer in service, the last TK-208 submarine was decommissioned in February 6th, 2023
Thanks for your feedback 👍
what software is used to make the 3d diagrams
Fascinating always wondered how a reactor powered a sub.
Unfortunately after this video you only upgraded from "wonder" to "incorrect".
@@Slackware1995 Why do you have incorrect in quotes, when your talking about an incorrect use of a word, whereas in according to the sentence structure the correct use of the word wonder would be the past tense.
Thank you for pointing that out to me. But still why is incorrect in quotes?

@ 10:50 - Watched a 1 minute animation on nuclear reactors and now I've mastered it. I like this guy.
ROTFLMAO
I've spent 21 years on 5 different Reactor designs during my Submarine service. Mastered I wouldn't say so I was the Engineering Dept Master Chief and one thing I learned, was that no question was a stupid question. Only stupid answers. Always feel free to ask a question.
@@lawrenceleverton7426 Where can I pickup a reactor for my boat? I'm sick of paying dock gas prices.
Given the amount of effort has put into these videos, this channel deserves way more popularity than it currently has. Sooo underrated!
He's 80+% incorrect. I'd say less people need to see his drivel.
@@Slackware1995 oh really? Man I have no idea about subs. While that can be true that different subs operate differently, but there could also be lack of information too. I do still appreciate the amount of effort he’ve put building that model with quite some details. But if info he gave is wrong, i hope he do it better next time lol
@@S.M.HassanShah a large part of the issue is that those of us who served and know how a nuclear sub works learned and worked on a platform with a "secret" security classification (one step down from "top secret".
I doubt any of us is willing to spend tens of thousand if not hundreds of thousands and possibly millions of dollars to hire lawyers to find out what we can disclose without severe penalties.
This means when we say that this and similar videos is wrong, the general public has no way to read between the lines; but those that served immediately know what is being said between the lines.
If this producer said "I'm simply guessing" it'd be one thing; but he's trying to be authorative on something he could write his total known correct knowledge on the back of a matchbox using a large sized crayon.
@@Slackware1995 Damn it does makes a lot of sense, especially considering the classified nature of the info. It’s frustrating when there’s a lack of clarity for the general public. Thanks for sharing your perspective, much appreciated

Awesome, thanks for the knowledge
Question would this same type of engine work in the vacuum of space? And on the water return line could we have a split value to also create purified water 💧 for the crew? Sorry If this is a dumb question....
Ballast tanks are filled with water by opening the vents on top to allow air out and water in. If you only opened the “flood ports”(doubt that Virginia Class boats have these) you would simply compress the air in the ballast tanks and diving the boat would be difficult if not impossible
What's a "fools port". I've served on many subs and never heard that term used before. I've heard of "chicken switches" Than again I never was stationed in the control center, except section tracking party.
@@lawrenceleverton7426 ugh…speed typing , should have been flood ports. I was on Sturgeon class boats and our ballast tanks were open ports on the bottom of the boat, possibly had some grates on them.
Gotcha. Yepper grated ports. I thought I was out the loop for a while. TY for the update. @@AlexP253

Please make a video about Russian typhoon submarine. Its so big
Something tells me that military grade encryption is NOT the same as a personal VPN service.
He was about as correct about a VPN as he was on the design and operation of a US nuclear submarine.
Several basic errors regarding the ship but appreciate the intent and effort. I encourage you to update the video as you learn where you went wrong…as an example, according to available unclassified literature, modern submarine torpedos are ejected using a slug of pressurized water produced by a spinning turbine. Using only pressurized air to eject a submarine torpedo is very noisy, produces millions of telltale bubbles and requires unnecessarily complex (maintenance intensive) plumbing within the sealed confines of the ship.
Great work...👍👍👍
