Your work never fails to amaze me, your attention to species and species recognition is so admirable in a maker! 💗 Do you have any specific tips for species recognition??
Thank you so much!!! I say definitely use references of the actual animal, and know what makes them different from the others. nose shape, mouth details, whether their cheeks are high or if they have a big back jaw curve etc. if youre able to draw the shape from the side that you want, you can easily separate that into the fursuit head pattern and then all you gotta do is round out the foam and it will turn out like you drew! i have a tutorial on making fursuit head patterns.

you totally can! look down in my videos, I show my ferret fursuit from 2018!
You’ve streamlined your process so much it looks like magic!! I should totally try the way you pattern bases, cause my method is just going for it, and it’s lead to lots of failures. I also noticed how you don’t hollow the lower jaw! That actually makes a lot of sense, I won’t hollow lower jaws out now. Do you know how to make squishy lips that show gums and teeth behind it? I’m really obsessed with that look and I can’t find a tutorial anywhere!
I found that the lower mouth was so thin that I couldnt hollow it out anyway, and it didnt make a difference taking a little bit of foam off where the tongue attaches haha. i have great airflow anyway!
i havent gotten to the point of trying to do long lips yet and itll be hard to explain in youtube comments, but you would sculpt the foam as if they have normal lips but when youre taping, you tape pattern the droopy lips with the tape! once theyre fur you can lift them up out of the way like a curtain to see the teeth underneath.

Freckle i have a question, i have a problem with belts, i can never find on to fit thats the problem so would a kidney belt be best if i can never find the perfect belt? I also started saving up my money and I wrote everything down i may want when the time comes. ^^
There's absolutely a belt out there that will fit you! and when you make the fursuit tail you can make sure the belt loops will fit the belt.
How long did it take to make this foam base?
a day or two of carving for a couple hours each time!
