I really like the representation of the knobs on the ball to give us a clear picture of axis tilt and rotation! Thanks JR!

My "coach" is bit by bit departing this info to me as he thinks I can wrap my mind around it. In the last week I started to focus on conceptualizing tilt, begin to arc the ball out then back to the pocket. That was the best representation I've ever seen. Thank you so much!

I had to increase my axis tilt a bit because I'm having issues clearing my thumb, and just last night, I was trying to figure out why I now occasionally roll my ball over the finger holes. Thank you for answering this! I was seriously puzzled!

I am just about a full roller. Track on most of my balls is just the right of the finger and thumb hole.
Lefty with pin above the ring finger.
Had my Parallax Effect drilled with pin up between finger tips. Also the finger tip drill angle was shifted per the newer standard. My release hasn't changed, but the rotation moved left, sometime right over my thumb hold.
So it would seem, I will benefit from the practice focusing on tilt a bit.

I'm 2 handed and hopefully i can get this dialed for earlier ball reaction

I've been struggling with getting more rotation without adding axis tilt. So just have to wrap my brain around it different and practice different. It's been screwing me up after stringing 5 or 7 then wanting to move left to get ahead of the burn. I end up adding a bunch of tilt and not being able to get around it fast enough to add rotation and it just keeps skidding.
For now I'll put a piece of tape across my wrist between my thumb and first finger to let me know when I am changing the axis tilt either in my setup or during my swing.
Usually the first game and practice I do fine, the linger I bowl, the more I tend to migrate my fingers closer to my body and my middle finger ends up parallel to my waist and pinky pointed at my hip.

Excellent best explanation that I ever heard/saw. Not only what it is, how to change it and when to use
Now could you please produce a video on targeting? In a previous video you mentioned that as you move in side at some point you have to move your breakpoint inside as well
    Keep up the good job

JR what’s your advice on sport shots when you’re making good pocket shots but you’re leaving a few more 10 pins than you would like to see. Best way to kick them out? Move a board maybe half board right? What’s your opinion

Thanks for the much needed explanation. Question?
Can changing you axis (tilt or rotation) help kick out the 10pin if your tapping?

This has me so confused.... I'm right handed, and when I would put thumb to 2-3 o'clock I'd throw a back up ball (hook to the right)... Kinda a parlor trick way to pick up 10 pin. Am I missing something? (self taught league bowler, average of 217) thanks!

  • @BudsNSuds

On an earlier video about release, you talk about the frisbee motion of the release. Wouldn't releasing the ball like a frisbee cause you to decrease axis tilt the moment before release? Cheers!

Thanks, JR. Great description of axis tilt and how to manipulate the release. Also appreciate you mentioning how hard it is to play with.
I totally stole this and linked it on my coaching page. Hopefully, I grab you a few subs.

Good video! I'm 2 handed can bowl with or without my thumb. Without my thumb I typically track like a full roller but here recently I've been using my thumb in and my track has moved to the left of my fingers and thumb. What am I doing to cause this?

  • @DANVIIL
    @DANVIIL Před 4 lety

JR why haven't you switched to a two handed bowler, since that is where you can target better ways to manipulate and execute with the ball?

That's your positive axis point not your axis tilt. Your PAP has no bearing on your tilt or rotation
