Excavator Operator Talkes To Me As I'm Opening Beaver Clogged Pipe Telling Me About It

- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Both the game warden and the excavator operator never had a clue that they were talking with the legendary Post 10. 🤗
So true, good one
Legendary indeed💯
What's truly sad is they both talk to him and they both just left and went on their way without offering any kind of assistance!!!
@@Ericah81 they might have already had something that were doing
At this point I'm shocked you haven't been approached by an equipment company. "See Post 10 wear our waders more regularly, because they're more comfortable than the other brand!"
I'm sure he's been contacted by the typical VPN/battery bank or outdoors brands- probably not his type of thing to do sponsors
Yup
He's got sponsored links to those boots in the description.
I think that's what I like most about Post. Barely ever mentions merch/patreon. Unlike most big youtubers that always try to sell ya something.
@Joe perhaps, but that doesn't stop other people from doing it. Lol
"I got nothing better to do." And yet you do all the jobs no-one else seems to do, with as much care and precision as you can. I don't know if what you do is appreciated as much as it should be, but your audience here is definitely grateful.
I totally agree with what you have said... what he does is truly thankless, but I am sure all of us viewers appreciate all that he does and the manner in which he does it. I just wish I lived in a place where culverts got blocked by beavers... because it looks so satisfying to unblock them!!
I kind of thought the guy sounded a bit condescending when asking why Post does that...i didn't like it very much.
This is USA.
Some people are overly spoiled. Than other people ( Post10 ) have to pick up the pieces an struggle..
the whole world is watching... the whole world is watching...! 😼
Makes you wonder what kind of great things people would be doing if they didn't have to work full time and run a household next to that.
Post10. I cleaned out a parkway last week that was overgrown and littered. It's been that way for over 40yrs. Nobody in my neighborhood gave a crap even the people who lived next door to it. It is now cleaned and cleared and make my street look better.
Great job.
Today's big problem is that nobody does anything without getting paid! In the old days, people helped each other and maybe vandals got a lot of beatings but that's the way things were - now everything has to be destroyed from window panes to all kinds of metal, sad... Those who are convicted should have the punishment as far as it takes them to restore the stolen/destroyed by hand like everything really old was done - could be a good way to keep the knowledge alive!
@@64TommyG
Your right. Nobody in my neighborhood does manual labor or goes beyond their property line to beautify their surroundings.
Thank you for making nature a better place!
“Are you a forester?”
“No, I’ve just got nothing better to do”
Don’t sell yourself short. There are many a forgotten little roads that get to live a bit longer without washing away, plus loads of tadpoles that have been saved, thanks to you.
Your knowledge of hydrology probably surpasses that of most foresters
I want to thank you for your videos I'm a disabled old guy who can't work anymore and I live vicariously through your videos thank you
"I just have nothing better to do." That's the biggest understatement of the decade!
I do get that. Most people don't get the passion that goes with unclogging culverts. It's still an understatement. I have put what I've learned from your videos to good use and gotten many hours of enjoyment from watching them.
Please don't sell yourself short. You make the world better for all of us. 💜
I feel like it's not even true. A more accurate answer would have been "I just love doing this kind of thing." There should be no shame in that! You have plenty of things you could be doing instead, but this is what you chose to do, and that's genuinely fantastic.
This grandma of the southwest looks forward to every new video. Sometimes I feel like I'm sitting in your truck and feel every bump and pothole. You're awesome. Thank you for taking me with you via video.
Hm... Beer can. There's no limit to the destruction possible by a drunken beaver.
drinking and damming hurts more than you know! lol
Those drunk beavers are the worst! They can be obnoxious enough without the alcohol; let alone drunk!
I imagine that you speaking with that excavator operator was an interesting discussion!
Yup
"nothing better to do" Man. You're not giving yourself the credits you deserve! You're making amazing videos about it. Wich many of us enjoy watching.
A lot of people will get weirded out if you tell them "i'm making a video for youtube" while doing public works, believe it or not. If you just tell them "i'm doing it for fun" or "I've got nothing better to do" they can just go "fair enough" and go about their day.
This is post simply replying Why not? when people ask Why do you do this.
It puts people more "at ease", if they think you're just screwing around a bit. As soon as you start sounding official, you can feel the defenses go up. Sometimes because they feel silly for thinking they knew more than you, and sometimes, simply because they feel like they don't want to get involved with 'officials'. I get that response a lot when I volunteer at a local-ish botanical gardens too. Just something to it. Though it does help to at least carry yourself in such a way that they don't worry for your safety either. It's a strange balance.
“Whatcha doing there sonny?”
“I lost my excavator in this culvert,I might need to borrow yours if you don’t mind....”
I almost had a heart attack when you were approached not once, but twice by the authorities! That’s like the cops coming across Superman when he’s half changed!
Hahaha.
Given how much culvert damage you come across on a regular basis it suggests to me that the world needs a better gadget to clear blockages than an excavator. Meanwhile keep up the great work 😀👍
The thing about that -- there are proper tools for the job, but logging companies aren't going to invest in that specialty heavy equipment when they can get by (much to post10's annoyance) using an excavator, which has other uses for the company's core operating mission. A machine dedicated to cleaning culverts doesn't have other uses on the job site, so they aren't going to invest in the equipment AND the cost of transportation to get it to the site. I think counties have less of an excuse, but for logging companies it's understandable. They can just do a so-so job cleaning their log road culverts, and when the culvert eventually fails they can use the same machine (excavator) to replace it, pretty cheaply.
@@muleb384 Gentle application of a grapple on an excavator could do the trick without damage. Investing in the grapple and patience would probably be more cost-effective, in the long run. However, companies care about short-term gains more than long-term investments.
The way this man reverently speaks of culverts and their issues soothes the savage beast.
I don't think it does much for the temperament of the beaver though.
As far as I'm concerned, not only have you educated and entertained a lot of people but you do a great job for the public.
The local government should be paying you :)
Not that you expect it, but if I was in office and discovered your videos I'd be happy to pay you for all the hard work.
The other big problem is that if he's being paid for it, he has to then abide by laws and regulations, he cant just go in and do it alone. Regulations will demand a crew, blocking off roads, safety equipment, all that dumb crap that post 10 has never needed before, but OHSA wont let him go out the door without.
At least this way he can do it how he needs to, and can just calmly explain to whomever comes along what he is doing, and can continue to film it for youtube.
Or maybe once you found out he was doing it in your district you would have to give him a cease and desist order and pay one of your roads crews for the work that he has done!
Or maybe once you found out he was doing it in your district you would have to give him a cease and desist order and pay one of your roads crews for the work that he has done!
If you heard about a youtuber who "unglogs pipes with a rake", you wouldn't think they'd have many subs. However with the quality of videos, I'm surprised he doesn't have more. Keep up the good work man!
but the amount of subscribers growing all the time is amazing
For "not having anything better to do" you sure help mother nature out an awful lot. We - your viewing audience - sure appreciate you!!! Thank You for "not having anything better to do"!!!!
Imagine driving in the middle of nowhere and casually seeing post unclogging a culvert😂
Not gonna lie I’d ask for an autograph on my rake! 🙂👍🏻
Have to admit I'm surprised he doesn't get people pulling over when he's clearing culverts on busier roads.
Postie: "Culvert end wrecked by an excavator."
Beavers: "Keep believin' it!"
Well at least you know when to stop. You DO NOT need to get hurt! It was still really fun to watch! ☺️
Thanks to you, I see culverts and drains where I never noticed them before. Actually right by my house is a drainage-ditch with a vertical drain covered by a dome shaped grate. Looks like it would reach me about mid-calf/knee. Never noticed the brilliance of that grate before.
Interesting blockage! Water was really high making the culvert invisible! Nice of the Game Warden to check on you! As for the excavator driver did he fess up crushing all the culverts? Thanks for another fascinating video! Stay safe and stay healthy!
It sure was!
He denied it
My culvert awareness has increased dramatically since I’ve been watching your beautiful videos.
They should hire you. You do a better job with the culverts than the excavator operators, and don’t damage the culverts. That was one of the few that you couldn’t do anything about.
I think you’re an awesome young man. I would be very proud if you were my son. You’re an example to follow. ❤
Hear, Hear!
7:25 You probably should’ve told him about triangular trash racks, and other solutions.
Post 10: "I see leeches"
Me: "that sucks..."
I see what you did there. 😉
Greetings from the BIG SKY. I'll bet the beavers laid down logs parallel with the culvert to reduce the flow. Smart critters.
Instinct rather than intelligence
Appreciate you braving the leeches! That is definitely a job for heavy equipment, clearing that clog. Stay wise and well, post 10.
He has a pet leech at home. Probably rescued it from a "job".
Saturday night treat - new Post 10 video, sending ❤ from England x
That "wheeeew...... that's a big job" was so damn good! Love ya Post!
I would love to see you make a bipod frame and a winch on your truck. You could then jam the hook into the jam, and use the bipod to hold the winch rope away from the pipe, while the winch pulls the material out. You could also open the culvert metal using the same technique.
I think they should let you run the machines to do this. Seems like you know more than them who's supposed to be doing it. Thanks for sharing with us.
"I just have nothing better to do."
Yeah, right. You humble sweetheart.
3:33 Favorite rake back in business.
Thank you for taking time to make this video for all of us to see. Your awesome brother!
“ got nothing better to do” 😊Great video. Yukko at the thought of leeches.
Many thanks.
Safety first !... From 🇨🇵
We need more people like this man
This would have been an amazing clearing to watch! Disappointed that it didn't happen, but it's definitely beyond the capability of one man armed with only a rake.
just tell the game warden that you are "post 10".!!!!! he will be like "oh, ok.!!!!"
I would have enjoyed an interview with the excavator guy, next time could you ask for his permission and film the interaction?? Great job, tough clog here. You'll be back
One hell of a beaver made clog up against a culvert. The "rake of power" seems like a childs small hand shovel being used
against it. Excavator guy bent the top end of culverts clogged up part making it nearly impossible to unclog it!
Surprised you dont have a winch on your truck and a grappling hook for the "tough jobs" :)
Dude is giving front line news reporting in the war against the Beavers of his locality. Bless this man
Another masterpiece! Thank you for posting these!✌️
I get why you couldn’t do it but the blast would’ve been epic
Totally agree! I'd love to see the blockage in a culvert/pipe let go with a ferocious blast of water. In the meantime I'll continue to dream. Sigh. Some day it'll happen. Some day.
Seems like a prime spot for some strategic explosive clearing....at the very least might get an opening into the blockage to allow the water levels to drop to a safer level for more meticulous clearing processes.
3lbs of tannerite up the inside of the culvert, dam clearance and reshaping of the culvert all in one go 😂
Cant win them all Post. Bet those Beavers are well happy
"I've got nothing better to do."
Bullshit!
Post10 is that guy who everyone thinks of when they think 'Someone's gonna take care of it.' Thanks Post10 and everyone else who went out of their way to take care of something. Whether it be unclogging a beaver damn, clearing up the highway, or any other act that benefits the community, no matter how big or small. Thank you.
There nothing better to do than making the world a better place.
I was at Cracker Barrel the other day. I saw an old tin of potato chips and I immediately thought of you. I wish took a picture of it.
Always interesting videos. Have you considered bringing along a farm jack to open up culverts that are damaged?
u should be sponsored by a company for mini excavators with ur own miniexcavator and many tools , ur videos are so satisfying ! can watch them whole day long
The DOT definitely needs to employ you as a roving culvert inspector and give you the power to call in heavy equipment to clear whetever you and your trusty rake cannot clear.
no volume can't hear anything. it's good information you tell us. thanks post 10
I got just the tool that is needed to fix that crushed end, a cordless sawzall. 5 minutes of cutting with demolition blades and then no more crush ends!!
I've been thinking lately about creating a device that you could hook to your truck that could push or pull the clogs out of these culverts. There has to be something we could create that a winch could pull through or something like that.
Some people pull a tire thru a culvert , does a good job if it’s just muck without a bunch of tree branches
Great video, post!
I just have nothing better to do.... 620 thousand folks all here nodding brother 👊🙂
I was asked what I was watching by a family member. I said "A boy and his rake, he does amazing things." That was the best I could do to describe our Posty. 😆
I feel very satisfaction when You unplugging pipe and water go faster
Looking forward to this, thanks 😊
You are a very smart guy and AWESOME to boot!
Well, I know one place that has a lot of leaches. I think it's being called IRS in the US.
Very worse kind.......🙄🤪
We love you post Thank you for what you do❤️
"I have nothing better to do"... most people wouldn't have anything better to do cos this is the best thing to do.
As always love your work post10 and thank you for your great explanations. Awesome.
Really enjoyed your trestle video, maybe you could do another one going there on a kayak next time?
Well I for one like watching your videos I’m originally from New Hampshire and you go all over the state and I enjoy that because I get to see through you and your videos what’s going on there and yeah it does make me homesick but non the less I like what your doing it helps to keep everything flowing there was a beaver dam in the town of Mason, that would get flooded a lot! I subscribe to your channel because I get glimpses of home!
"Volunteer" is a term you should call yourself, because you are helping community free of cost.
Time to reach for a bigger rake. Or at least with longer tines.
I find these video’s post10 so relaxing. I look every night to see if u have posted a new one. Keep up the good work !!
Thank you for doing your best!
"No, I just have nothing better to do." Best ever.
Did the excavator operator say when he'd be back to put more dents in the culvert?
Every time someone mentions leeches, I think of the scene in the swamp in the movie "Stand By Me".
excavator operator: "i heard you been callin me an idiot".....
That area is so beautiful
I thought it was funny when you said, "You have nothing better to do. "
Sooooo disappointing that you couldn't get it open. Hope they trap those beavers 🦫 and not damage the colvert when unclogging it.
Hope you check back to see if the problem is ever resolved.
Post 10, as much as I wanted this culvert unclogged, I am glad you chose safety! (Though, I think a little c4 might help! 🤣🤣🤣😁). I am really enjoying the back road travels! Thank you! 😁🥰🥰🥰🥰😎
Lol and get some fish at the same time maybe? Two birds one stone 🤣🤣🤣
Don't give up! This is the final boss of the autumn! This needs to go!
I hope you complete this job it will be really satisfying. Good luck
Just a couple of ideas.. you know that maybe some company that does wet suits will sponsor you and give you one to use in your videos, so you can get in deeper waters if needed and not worry about getting wet or soaked. It will protect you as well in the waters you've been in that you have seen leeches. Maybe you can reach out to some and let them know who you are.. just a thought and it helps you in what you do..
The other thought suggestion ..would be maybe figure out a wenching system to help unclog bigger drains like this one . Or even those that you can get access to that are severely clogged. You can attach some sort of device into the debris as securely as possible.. get out and use the wench system to pull that debris out.
An example would be... To enter from the far side .. maybe take a broom to help with spiders.. lol.. (clear the way) , then from inside try to push some sort of catching mechanism like two short pieces of straight rebar or something that hook on a swivel.. you push them through the debris to the other side. Attached to this is the cabling system which will run the length back out the culvert the way you came in. You can go back to the outside and to the bar pieces and splay them open in a crossing fashion.. or X . Then use the wench or a "come along" or whatever to pull the debris free from safety.
Pretty sure once you start a big enough area free the flow would help out a lot . Basically you will pull the clog out of the drain by dragging it out.
You're great! your ideas are great camera idea🙏♥️
"Hi Post10. I'm Idiot with an excavator"
"oh, erm... hi"
*Pushes Posts car into the beaver pond*
im surprised they didnt question you on being called an idiot with an excavator lol
you go great work and i now look for and spot culverts in my area
Good try thanks for sharing. Chris from England
Your videos are always interesting! I hope someone with heavy machinery (and the ability to operate it properly) comes out soon and unclogs it!
How clever and nimble are these tiny beavers!
Finally face-to-face with the "Idiot with an Excavator"
LOL
At the very least, Post needs a sponsorship from either Ames or Craftsman shovels and rakes. Ideally, he could pick up a deal with Kubota, BobCat or John Deere and score a mini-excavator.
Sure, a Pocket excavator....😁
Damn Friday and Saturday posts. We are in for a treat
With excavator you deffo need a grabbing attachment with the proper bucket ... one thinks these days there are many different tools you can attach to the excavators boom.
This is relaxing and fun to watch. I know that it is fun to play in the mud😜❤️🤠
Have a great day to you too!
As someone done drain relining before. Some of the damage seen from excavator operators, this of no surprise.
That was a tragic mess. Take care of yourself!
