I've noticed your first stage of hunger as a fresh spawn is the hardest. Once you get yourself going you can run your ass off as much as you want. My hunger hardly ever goes down. But the early stages of hunger and thirst happen fast as hell.

I actually kinda like that about this game though. I usually hate RDM but I like the irl apocalypse survivor feel the game has. If you want to be friendly you have no idea if others will be.

I've been playing for 3 days, probably 18-20 hours total, and have never seen a stone. I honestly figured they got nerfed in the most recent update and the guides just haven't caught up.
A pimp Named Slickback yea but the thing is is that you got to go down rail roads and paths wich you never go on if your looking for a knife for the chicken you killed on a beach

ALOT You just got to find a spawn and get lucky maybe even let the server reset a few times before you come back But always prioritize finding a knife and always remember fishing as an option And remember to ready the fish with a knife
Stones, men, all depends, I find it way easier with a loot route n killing wolves and dear gettin full water avoiding any desease, however u got to find a knife n count on some delicious pears n beans to achieve it so far it using when u die from a bug or a rollback…

I don't think people realise how difficult dayz is until you first load in.People think that they will find it easy and build a massive base the first time they play.You probably won't even get a decent gun until you understand the game and the map

A very useful guide. I reccomend all players watch your DayZ Guide videos. I’ve learned so much throughout the years using them. If anyone reads this and plays DayZ, show a friend this channel, it will make you and your crew highly skilled amongst the rest of Chernarus.
It’s really easy to find food and water on DayZ once you get the hang of the game I used to die all the time and when I found food it was like finding a rare gun but once you get the hang of the game it’s easy to find resources.
I never clicked on a video so fast. I do have to disagree with the hunting, if you find cows, pigs, or sheep they let you get close enough to beat them with a mele weapon. The trick is once you hit them let them run because farm animals just stop like 50m away if you don’t chase them. Cooked animal fat is like 10 cans of food
This is great advice but if you find a cow or a goat or pig just go for a headshot from like 6 meters away. A well placed buckshot or Powerful enough bullet will take down goat or pig instantly. The cow will probably fun a few dozen yards before it can’t go any further and just collapses or needs another well placed bullet to finish it off. My favorite hunting rifle is the .357 carbine repeater or any of the 3 shotguns in the game. Also don’t hoard food until you’re character is geared and you have a camp going. By camp I mean a tent or a base or just a place where you can bury a stash at the minimum. When you find it just eat it. A whole cow will pretty much give you the surplus of calories you need to cross the map and make get halfway back on the round trip.
Me an my buddy spent 4 hours trying to find each other . I found him than died from hunger than he found me an died of hunger 🙃 but at the end of the night we met up in cherno with loads of apples heheh
Also this game keeps spawning me in the middle of freaking nowhere there's no houses in sight I run until I die and still don't see a single house, fruit tree, hay bale... Or nothing... just Open Fields with trees and absolutely nothing...
I'd actually say never just munch whatever food you spawned with right away as you can save it for when either your hunger or thirst go red. Eat it 2-3 min after you started losing health so you can regenerate it before losing health again, extending your range even further.

Lets be honest tho, you would really last for days without food. You wouldnt die before the night is over from freaking starvation. If they are aiming for a realistic game, that would be a good place to start. I believe everyone is frustrated with the game because its unrealistically hard to get food and water and you die unrealistically fast from the lack thereof.

It's not only just people not understanding how to survive, it's that some servers have no loot at start or is so rare you die trying to get to the middle of the map where loot actually is!
As for stone knives, I learned that you can use a hammer to break a boulder to get a rock and then split the rock and you will have a bunch of tiny stones.
lol fucking WHAT? In order to make a STONE KNIFE, THE most primitive tool ever, you need a hammer. Because all those millions of stones by the railroad tracks are unusable. All the rocks I pass by don't actually exist, and in order to get two ROCKS I need a tool that's WAY MORE ADVANCED. This game is ridiculous.

I ate about a dozen baked and smoked wolf steaks all at once and it barely filled my gut. Fruits seem to be the most plentiful food when you recognize what trees they're on. Found one stone in three weeks if playing but I haven't spent much time on the trails either, mostly roads and cross-country.
Made it to north east airfield. Luckily no one was there and I had the airfield to myself. Unfortunately, I only found clothes and no vests or guns and afterwards I starved to death and got shot in the head
Hey people In the comments idk if he put this in the video but I use this off basic knowledge. If you hear a turkey kill it and make a fireplace lit outside. This is super easy to do and you get two chicken meat and it replenishes your hydration aswell! All you need is a cutting object

Biiiiiig tip here. Once your food and water "meters" look full, you can actually still eat and drink a LOT, You're only actually full when the food/water stop going up despite you eating/drinking. Eat literally everything you find immediately until you're completely full, if possible. You won't need to eat or drink for a very, very long time. Just remember to stop eating for a min if you get the stomach churning symbol, you'll puke otherwise.

First day playing and my main cause of death was starvation. Literally in 7 hours i only found 2 canned foods in a total of 200 houses and 20 boats.

The mushroom and fruit hints alone have made a huge difference for me.

Archie Stormcloud domestic animals and a melee weapon if you get lucky are OP. Often a one hit kill with an axe.

First thing I do is find a fishing pole, fishing hook, and knife and that's how I always survive long enough to get geared up.

First time I played this game, my first three deaths were literally from starvation. There isn't shit anywhere.

I usually play on a modded server, and my primary means of getting food is farming.
The winter almost killed me.
Itd be so cool if all offical servers turned Snowy in December.
