    Denmark is a good place to study when understanding the Costa Rican potential for more wind power and stored wind power, whether it be hot water or hydrogen.

    Agree with all of the projections apart from the possibility of electric vehicle batteries supporting the grid. This is unlikely due to the battery deterioration from such discharge commitments.

    living in Denmark. Crazy high electricity prices. hoping for an opt out fro smart meters.

    heat pumps just isn't that important in countries like Australia which is emphasised a lot in this video (heating homes, not that much use in showers). Unfortunately battery storage still has a long ways to go.

      There is the option to heat large tanks of water or store air (to use to run turbines) but that is expensive.

      Heat pumps can also be used to store "cold". Basically running an ice maker when electricity is cheap, and using ice to cool your house when needed

    The explanation of heat pumps is slightly wrong. Heat pumps primarily move heat from one place to another. Similar to pumping water uphill, heat pumps pump heat from cold areas to warm areas. They can get this heat from the ground or the air, but it is more efficient to use the ground in denmark because the cold air would make air source heat pumps less efficient

    The graph at 3.43 is nonsence, it would be correct if it said "electrical power comsumption" and not just "Power comsumption"

    Tesla has already made lots of this obsolete...Heck I am about to get of the grid all together. It is so easy to build a generator and don't need gas or oil or anything of the sort.....

      I don't this most every-day electricity consumers will think as far as to create their own energy sources and become independant of this kind of system.
      The good thing about Smart Grid, however, is that you can buy and sell electricity whenever you or others may need it.
      Unless you use lots of batteries, an example could be the batteries for electronic cars, there will be electronic waste when you use your own 'generator'. Smart Grid allows you to connect to an international electricity market, which means no electricity waste.
      Smart Grid is not (just) about making money - it's about distributing renewable energy to whoever needs it in the second it is produced, efficiently. It does not mean you cannot produce your own electricity instead of purchasing all electricity. In fact, from my perspective, it does the exact opposite. Private consumers should easily be able to connect to the grid, selling electricity from your own eventual generator.
      Energinet even mentions the concept of producing electricity yourself in coherence with SmartGrid at 12:05...
