  • Various shots of Lxd2 locos on the Tuczno sugar factory line on 8 November 2001:
    1. Train of empty wagons arriving at Przybranowo. Shortly after this, while the loco was shunting across the level crossing, a car ran into the side of it.
    2. (1:22) A brief view of the loading pad at Przybranowo.
    3. (1:33) Loaded train headed towards Tuczno at Zelechin, west of Rojewo.
    4. (1:56) The same train at Liszkow - I got a better shot here in 2002.
    5. (4:02) Another loaded train between Osniszczewo and Zagajewice.
    6. (5:00) A loaded train at (I think) Wierzbiczany, just east of Wierzchoslawice - this gives a good idea of the speed at which the Tuczno trains ran.
    7. (7:09) Another fast-moving loaded train, I think this is at Rojewo.
    8. (7:46) Loaded train at Niszczewice, between Liszkowo and Tuczno - this became a favourite spot.
    9. (10:08) Loaded train leaving Przybranowo. In the background another loco beside the mountain of beet.
    10. (10:49) Probably the same train, at Opoki. See how the train slows as the steep grade and tight double bend have their effect, and the engine note changes.
    11. (12:56) Another loaded train at Opoki, taken from lower down the slope and almost darkness - I switched to infra red at the end of the clip.
We never found out just what time of day the Tuczno line stopped running, but I believe they carried around 100,000t of beet in a season of less than three months.

Thank you very much Dave! There is Przybranowo with two Lxd2 and also abandoned Opoki loading beet point, where they had to work hard on hill. Unfortunately I've never been on Tuczno railway system.

Unfortunately the Tuczno railway system has now been gone for almost 20 years - it makes me feel old! It was, however, fantastic to see.

The Lxd2/L45H is a fine locomotive. The biggest problem with it is the limited forward visibility, which is why some railways have fitted them with cameras. It is a shame that they can no longer be seen working really hard today.

Sadly not, the railway was last used for the 2002 sugar campaign and then the track was dismantled and the locomotives sold off in 2003; the sugar factory itself subsequently closed.
There are now no sugar factory railways left in Poland - the last were Kruszwica and Tuczno in the 2002 campaign.
There are also now no common carrier narrow gauge freight operations in Poland - I think the last was probably the Zbiersk system which stopped carrying freight in 2010 or 2011.

@@davekujawy thanks for replying. It 's very very sad. In italy a lot of tracks directed to factory have been dismatled in 90's and 2000's.. very sad situation across the whole Europe . A sugar factory and its railways is still.operating close Cuneo city

there is not a trace of the adornments in the queue, probably like everywhere where it was the turn

I know, that is why I cannot now identify the locations of some of the shots. Strange to think that now there is no operating narrow gauge anywhere in Kujawy.
