I dont find guinea pigs chewing on toys often. If they do its out of curiosity for a second then there done. I will be honest I did find one just now you brought up that u said was your idea that I'm going to give a try. I dont do toys but I'll try that one. I have a feeling its going to work. By the way, I cancelled my plans for a new toy box for my piggy toys. Today, at a yard sale, I picked up a nice antique wooden chest for $20 USD. It measures 1m by 1/2 m by 1/2 m. and with all of the piggy toys in it, there's still lots of room for more.

A cool DIY idea is to pick some branches and braid them into toys or houses! I'm trying to do this, and im exited to see if my piggies will like it. You should try as well and show me how I should have done it when my homemade house ends up in the trash bin :)

Hi I'm not trying to be mean but I called pets mart not because of you I wanted to know if I should get woodchips for my Guinea Pigs and they said they don't recommend it because they can get infection
Madison skinner Hi, you are completely right, shavings in the USA and in Canada are completely different to ours in the UK which makes them unsafe. However, further research would of shown you that if you are in the UK shavings are safe and dust free, they are put through a cleaning process in the UK which removes anything bad and makes them safe. That is why you see lots of people on CZcams using them as they live in the UK. I wouldn't personally phone petsmart again for advice, I've heard a lot of bad things about them, it would be much better if you contacted a vet.

I know this isn't relative to this video, but I have a guinea pig, male, short haired, and I got him 2 days ago. He's actually really timid and scared and makes a noise when I go near him, I got him from a breeder that had him with his sisters and brothers. What should I do??? I love him so much and I try to spoil him on a budget. I also don't know much about them in general so anything would be helpful thank you btw great video.
please do research about your guinea pig. he is probably just scared. I'm glad you love him! I have had guinea pigs for years and still learn new things everyday!

Where do you get the wood from and do you buy them in the shapes or do you cute them?? If so how do you cut them??
Did u put paint on the chew toys? I thought it was toxic
on the diy toys with recyclable items, is it safe for them to chew on them. like with bottle caps, is it safe for them to chew on the plastic?
+Carleigh Simmons The recycled ones that are made of plastic are more of a toss around toy :) If you think your pet might chew them, then try making them into something that is chewable like wooden chews instead xx

starducky72 The wood I use for my piggy toys is untreated, kiln-dried Whit Pine. "Treated" means chemicals are added that help prevent rot, but are toxic. Untreated also costs less. Untreated White Oak is also good, but is a bit expensive.

Girl, you’re too hard on yourself! You’re quite artistic! Looks very much like Olaf and your flags are pretty close to perfect! As someone else said, if you haven’t already, you need to sell these! You would definitely make some money, especially if they’re costing you almost nothing to make! I’ve learned piggies can be a bit expensive (at least when you’re first getting started), you could definitely make some easy money to put into your piggie expenses :)
