    hi i wish to filter washing machine grey water.So I should first put a filter full of salt then proceed with gravel and another final one with sand?

    I would boil the water after filtration, but couldn't you just put activated charcoal in the second jar to make the water more drinkable?

      +anNaSoR911 Hi, thanks for the comment.. yup agree.. I suppose to put another filter stages i.e. UV sterilizer and charcoal.. but wasn't able to find available quartz glass here.. that sand is intended only for turbidity..

    hi i watch some movies on bio sand filter and what i understand, it s you need minimum 40 at 50 cm of sand without light to get the last filtration and the water need to arrive slowly to get the other filtrations, than i'm not sure your filter is good, sorry

    • @technowisdomgeek2524
      @technowisdomgeek2524  Před 8 lety

      Hi Yup agree with you.. my sand filter is not that good enough is it only for turbidity.. there supposed to be othr stages for odor like charcoal and for microbes like UV.. beside water should be tested first for already safe.. thank for the comment :)

      +TalisMay Hi, yup it works with grey water but with soap you need to put salt first.. once settle in the bottom.. upper portion can be filtered via this biosand filter :)

      +Ty Horner Hi, thanks for the comment :).. I was supposed to build two more stages i.e. carbon pleated (for odor) and solar powered UV filter (for microbes).. but I was struggling to find here quartz glass tubing to complete this practical project.. to make it drinkable water.

    • @algallego

      Just buy a pre-made filter, which has been certified to reduce contaminants (above a specific micron #) in liquid ... if you plan to drink. Leave water treatment/purification to the professionals.
