Wow this society sounds harsh and cruel (not to mention ableist)! I hope not all packs are like this. It's an interesting and counter intuitive idea that being cold would help you grow stronger. I saw a post once that talked about how "Diamonds are formed under pressure. And bread dough rises when you let it rest We're all our own things. What's motivating to you may be crippling to others." I think that's a very true idea.
