    As always I am totally blown away. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to carve that. So much detail, my head would be spinning.

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! I probably have around 50 hours in carving from block of wood to sealed master. It's hard to put an exact number on it because I spend a lot of time messing with the camera and such.

    I've made a few lures following your design. But I doubt that I'll ever be capable of this level of detail. I understand that it's a process, but I am amazed at the uniformity and steadiness you bring to the process. You made this piece a work of art.
    I have a question about the pour. If you used micro balloons in the resin, and pour the cast upside-down, if any of the micro balloons "float" before the resin hardens, the lure would be more buoyant on the bottom than the top. Do you believe pouring upside-down like this will have any affect on the lure's stability in the water? Thanks.
    Looking forward to Part 2.

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for your kind words! It's true the micro balloons do tend to float in the resin pour, but the resin cures too fast for them to all move to the top. I actually just ballasted it and it worked out fine. I can't tell any difference about it being cast upside down. I'm sure I loose a little bit of bouancy efficiency, but it certainly doesn't ruin the lure.

    Love watching your videos. It has inspired me to try making my own lures. Have you ever had an issue where the silicone didn’t dry just on the body of the lure? It was still slimy after a day of drying but oddly just where it touches the lure. Any suggestions to what I did wrong?

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem

      Glad you enjoy watching my videos! I have had that happen on some deeper pours. You might try letting it cure a bit longer. I forget exactly what the manufacturer says, but I think they say it can take 2-3 days depending on conditions. I will also let the mold sit open for a while after I remove the master just to make sure it fully cures.

      Thank you for watching! I have in mind to also use this master for a bass lure because they have a similar look. So it's not exactly a grouper or a bass, but could pass for either. Good eye!
