  • In this Honda CRF 300l Rally Raid suspension review, I put the new Rally Raid shock to the test on some local bitumen and off road tracks to see how it performs and whether it is worth spending the money on.

    Greetings,
    As always another brilliant detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸
    Do you have a video installing the shock, thank you so much for assisting me.
    Keep producing more videos about the CRF rally
    Did the seat height changed?
    What is your inseam?

      Thanks
      As it was the first time I’d swapped out the shock, I didn’t feel qualified to do a video on it to be honest. I may do one in the future if I move shocks around between my Rally and L models.
      It was pretty simple except the bolts in both the lower shock and suspension knuckle clearly hadn’t been greased at the factory and were over torqued so took a bit of work to remove.
      Lots more to come on the Rally as I’m keeping it long term and doing an adventure build on it.
      I haven’t measured it but my feeling is that yes, it has lowered very slightly but also sags a lot less so ride height is very similar to stock.
      My inseam is 32.5”. I’m 6ft, weigh 87.5kg . I think I gave all stats in the video for reference, apologies if I missed it.

    Nice video, I'm going to get a CRF rally this year in Thailand, I was going to get some YSS shocks, but after looking at the reduced travel on the Stage 1 Rally Raid it does make sense to not make the seat height too much.

      It depends how you use the bike but for me the level 1 Rally Raid made sense.

    Good to hear it works well… you’ll need a longer trip to decide on the fronts and get the new shock compression/rebound dialed in for you…

    Great video mate, thank you
    I finally got the chance to sit on a rally yesterday, I couldn't test ride it unfortunately as im still on my L's but I'm 75kg and 180cm and I could only touch the floor with the balls of my feet and could comfortably flat foot it with my right foot on the brake.
    I know ride height being ideal is one thing, but I wonder if I'm winning in this area if the ride quality will follow suit and not need to be upgraded for me. If I experience that bouncy feeling you described or the steering feels too slow that might make me upgrade eventually but so far I'm impressed and optimistic 🤞

    • @TripleB6036
      @TripleB6036  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks. I think you will have to ride it and see. You may get away with the stock shock, depending on what type of riding you do.

      @TripleB6036 I just plan to use it as a commuter, for day trips and overnight camping trips. Hopefully a test ride will be enough for me to know for sure

  • @didgeridoothedeepmechanics
    @didgeridoothedeepmechanics Před 3 měsíci

    Excellent video! I am thinking of buying the level 1 as well. Does the seat height stays the same? How about the front forks, have you done anything there and does the rear shock effects the symmetry of the bike? Thanks!

    • @TripleB6036
      @TripleB6036  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks.
      The seat height stays pretty much the same.
      I haven’t touched the front forks on the Rally yet as I want to ride it a bit more before deciding whether to do any work on them. For me the Rally is more of an exploring bike so I don’t ride it too hard. initially I want to see if I can get away with leaving the forks alone. The bike geometry feels fine with just the shock.
      I’m just waiting on parts to change out the forks and shock on my 300L , including the Rally Raid level 2 forks so that will give me an idea how much difference it makes and whether it’s worth doing the forks on my Rally. I’ll be posting videos on all that stuff once the parts finally arrive here.

      @@TripleB6036 Thanks for the fast reply! Have not watched the video to the end previous but did now and you pretty much answered my questions already. I have the 300L and if you want to upgrade yours you also might check the Wilbers 640 Road Monoshock. Its a german company and they make high quality suspension for a good price. You also can choose different seat heights and you can order the fitting front fork spring as a complete package. So you get rear and front fix for about750€. They also have higher upgrades but more expensive though. Will watch your next vids, good content!
