Beaded Lanyard Tutorial

- In this video I show you how to create a beaded lanyard from start to finish. I first go over all of the supplies you’ll need and how to prep your materials. I then offer a step-by-step guide for rope stitch plus an alternate method to this stitch. Next I explain how I pattern my lanyards, and finally we’ll finish it off by attaching the keyring and sewing the leather.

Amazing tutorial. I'm finally learning how to bead and didn't know where to start exactly. But I think lanyards are a great way for me to get started. Once I become more comfortable I'll get in to necklaces and earring. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Hannah! Thanks for the video! My husband is Siletz Native American, and his family (now my own) taught me bead working a couple years ago. I got really good at loom work, but am just now learning to do lanyards and key chains. Id love some more videos on bead wrapping designs for lanyards and key chains if you have any ideas. :)
Peyote stitch is also very good for going around things!

Hobby Lobby has rubber thimbles when you're trying to push the needle through the leather it works better.

Dear Hannah, I'm left - handed too and your tutorial on this type of beading is the first one I've been able to follow and understand properly. As you no doubt know there are hardly any tutorials for left handers and I get really frustrated because I just can't do certain things right handed. My brain won't let me!! When you're going back through the circle to secure it in place are you going through the rope itself or just through the circle

Your tutorials are great!! ive got the peyote stich down and have done a few feathers for my art work. my question today is should i use a larger bead when im working with a tomahawk shaft (about 1 1/4 in diameter) ive been working with 8/0 seed beads wondering if i should use a larger size bead for a larger diameter object . about to buy more beads should i step up sizes?? thank you!!

I use bowls to pick up my beads.Just put needle in the bowl and push back and forth .Count you beads and discard the rest, but that's just for solid beads.
There’s electric bowls that turn to help you out a bunch of beads on at once
You can also buy self turning bowls as well.

I call it w rap-around stitch but I'm not sure if there are different names for it!
I am brand new to making jewelry/beading, going to make this today and im wondering should i stick to one type of beed or is it okay(will it work) if mixing up beeds? Like czech preciosa and mixing them with czech seed beads. Or adding in the miyuki.

the kind i’m using is called paracord and I got it from the dollar store! Home hardware stores have sturdier ropes which would be easier but you can use any type!

I like this way. I didnt like the way the beads didn’t match up and this is a little faster than peyote.
Do you think there could be another bead put in the circle? There seems to be a little gap.
Yes, put as many as you need to make a full wrap around:)
