    “The Witch on the Ridge” was some old lady living as a recluse wanting peace. This is more common than people realize, especially in wooded areas. People just like living alone in the woods lol
    I find it funny when people just get outright scared of something out of the norm

      Some people never leave the comfort of their "space", and do not know old women with plants, cats, and a way to sweep their home, are not threatening. Worse, they assign 'witch' to that older woman, who might be a Catholic, Baptist, Buddhist, or whatever. 'Witch' is a religion, not a slur. I swear, all it takes to scare young people these days is calligraphy, land lines, and lack of internet.

      I’ll be honest that I zoned out and missed some of that story, but the part I heard was that she thought he was dead when he was in the military. When he got back, she wanted him and the clerk too. I’d also be an abusive husband if I caught my wife in bed with someone else. Don’t be a hoe. Either leave the husband or leave the clerk. Don’t try to sneak around and have both.

      Look I don't condone what him & his friends did, but Dora Anne wasn't a good person either, if she wanted to keeps things going with the other guy she should have ended things with her husband, she caused what happened to the poor guy cause she wanted her affair & happy married life.

    • @Lorie336
      @Lorie336 Před 2 měsíci +43

      @zerobolt9506 divorce was taboo back in the 40's and 50's, plus even if a divorce happened it would be more shameful on the woman no matter the situation. In today's society divorce isn't taboo, so there's no excuse, but remember the 40's and 50's were different times especially for women, which by the way most women were homemakers and didn't drive. I know this because of my grandparents, God rest their souls, He was the breadwinner and she the homemaker. He could drive and she couldn't, but she was an excellent navigator when they went on trips. She was also educated, she did finish high school whereas my grandpa lived on a farm and had to quit his education in 8th grade and eventually went to war at 17. He forged his birth certificate.
      Also, I am sure she loved both men, but seeing as her husband in the end was a violent man, you have to wonder if the war had changed him. He may not have been violent until he came back. Maybe Dora was going to break it off with the clerk, but noticed how her husband was acting towards her and others and decided to keep the affair going in secret because she couldn't get divorced. I know that even years after the war, after he married my grandma and they had four kids that he had night terrors for the rest of his life that my grandma couldn't always sleep in the same bed with him. For the longest time you couldn't sneak up on him or you would end up in a choke hold and he never talked about the war for a long time. Outside my grandma I was the first family member he told about his experiences in the war when I was about 8 or 10, he didn't tell me everything, but he told me enough. He was a Marine sent to fight the Japanese in Okinawa, one of the worst battles of the Pacific.
      Again the times were different.

      Copperheads aren’t as scary as rattlesnakes even if they don’t warn you. Cooperheads rarely kill people. There is anyivenom basically everywhere and it’s the least toxic venom of any pit viper in North America. It’ll burn like heck and prolly cause you to lose a limb or a lot of tissue decay but copperheads aren’t nearly as venomous as a rattlesnake which even then if it was a timber rattlesnake you’d have like 2 days to get antivenom. Snakes in North America are relatively mild compared to the rest of the world

She might have helped some people, whether by the placebo effect, just by listening, or because one or two of her remedies actually worked to some extent. One of the world's most used modern drugs started as a "folk remedy," after all. And those villagers might have had little or no access to science based care.

    For some reason i really like the Apalachi/camping video's and there are my favorite of all his videos, probably because i hike my self and I'm kinda skittish of every sound when I'm hiking , these videos make my fears more greater, i know it's bad for me but still like it.

    The Appalachian Trail was one of the funnest things I’ve ever done. I did it in 99/2000 though.. different times.
    Nowadays it’s a hideout for meth heads and people dodging warrants and stuff.. best to go in groups and be armed with a firearm and bear mace.. not for animals but humans. Sad stuff.
