Yes, on some models it can show transmission temperature, but keep in mind that these units are constantly updated and some of their features change. No, there is no damage or harm. The only thing that can happen is to get some battery drain while the car is off. Some manufacturers keep the OBD port supplied with battery power so this will keep the OBD reader in standby, but the drain is very small.
This unit seems to be cloned and rebranded in a million models. It's mostly up to the H/W and F/W version. So if you are lucky you can get a good one like I did, otherwise it might not be ok.

The car is "started", this is the most important thing as all other OBD scanners will not work and not read any kind of info while the car runs on EV power with the internal combustion engine off. With the engine started you get the working RPM meter, while the rest of indicators such as temperature continue to work and show data even in EV mode.

It should probably work ok. When this was initially sold it mentioned that it doesn't work with hybrids, yet it works perfectly on my plug in hybrid.
I've had this one for about 2 weeks and then one day it suddenly stopped working. But it wasn't bad at all and also works for a Volvo V70 p3 👍

Obd 2 has a wire for always on and switched power so obd 2 port does supply constant voltage even when key is off.
Not on all cars, on some Fords the OBD port will stop supplying constant voltage when the key is in off position.

If your car works with a cheap ELM327 and android apps such as Torque then it will probably work fine with this display also.
If I start in OBD2 mode then I don't get any mph speed... so frustrating. Only when I choose GPS mode that I get mph working but then I don't have rpm
I think you can change from settings so you see the speed in OBD2 mode.
