  • This weeks video is an awesome looking scud pattern that's very easy to tie. I saw this pattern in a video from MakFlies and I really liked the looks of so I thought I'd share it with you guys. Scuds are a freshwater shrimp that is very abundant is some of my local streams. Finding a simple quick way to tie them is very important. Tying is fun but I like to fish just as much so I've learned to keep my flies simple and quick. Head to the shop for all the materials needed to tie this fly and others at holsingersflys... and as always, thanks for watching. -Shawn

I like the new video format. Appreciate the extra touch of adding material names into the video while your tying! Tight lines.

Thank you very much for your input. I've been trying very hard to learn as much as I can about editing and creating the best possible videos

Where do you find ostrich herl with such LONG individual feathers ??? I've been tying these and the herl I have is barely long enough to wind around a size 14 hook.

Brian Quinn looking back that’s the one thing I would change about this video. Lol. That was just one of those freak packs I found somewhere. Don’t get hung up on the length it will still catch fish. I believe it’s more the profile of the body than the legs.

I'm suprised more people don't fish the Missouri style scud which is just dubbing, wire, and a hook and then the dubbing is brushed for legs.
