Nope! That is a great question and often misunderstood. You DO NOT have to pull the brake handle. Just make sure the kill switch is on the circle and that the key is turned to the ON position. :)

@@NewScooters4Less Is this true about all Chinese scooters? I just picked up a Znen F10-50 and can't get it to start with the kick starter.
@@HasanALi-lj7mx Not sure how I missed this comment a year ago, but the kill switch is the right hand switch that has a O and an X. If it is on the X, it won't start.

Should we hold the kick down for 2 3 seconds when giving full kick and waiting for engine to start for a scooter having starting issues or leave it
When you kickstart the scooter, the kickstarter lever should automatically spring back up, so you don't have to hold it down. Just keep pumping your foot until it starts.
i have a brand new scooter but the kick start feels stuck, i don't want to force it and break anything but how hard does one need to "kick" to get it to move like in this video? there is a little slack but it feels stuck beyond that. brand new vespa
The kickstart gears are most likely jammed inside the transmission. It should not be difficult to press down.

I know this is an old video so reply is likely not going to happen, but does it work if the fuse is blown? Can I drive it normally that way?
Hey Katherine! YES. If the fuse is blown, you can still kickstart the scooter and get it to run. You can drive it normally but electrical components like your horn and blinkers won't work.
Does this work on fuel injection scooter or only carbs, my scooter the other day was completely dead, had the key on and the kill switch on start. I cranked that kick about 20 times till i was exhausted. The lights was kicking on with each kick but never turned on, just bought a battery and started right up with the electric start. Fuel injection when you 1st turn on the scooter you can hear fuel oump prome, so i figured the fuel wasnt getting to the engine with a dead battery 🔋. So i belive if you have a completely dead battery with fuel injection your screwed
If the battery is completely dead, it will be a challenge to get it started. You can do it, but it's just not very easy. :/
@@NewScooters4Less well i tried it again as if the electric starter was broken, with a full charge battery the scooter kicked on with 2 kicks. So if anyone has a fuel injected gy6, carry a jumper pack. That electric fuel pump needs power to prime the fuel into the engine
If you kick start you need a battery in activa 3G?
Because my activa battry ded & when I go garage he told sometime you not start a kick with ded betry. Need replace battry.
Typically, you can kick start a scooter without a battery in it, BUT it is usually a lot more difficult. Having a battery in it, even if weak, is better than no battery at all.

Is the Kickstarter only for when the battery is low. Like could I use the kick start for just every day use or will that reck something.
Using it daily is fine. Obviously, over time it will wear, but so will the electric starter. So either or is just fine. Thanks!
what if the kick start wont work anymore either? my electric start wasnt working for a while so I started kick starting it. and it worked fine for a while, but now it wont even kick start :(
They typically get harder to kick start as the battery gets deader and deader. I would replace the battery so you don't have to stress about it anymore :)

My 150cc won’t start at all with the kick starter, I don’t get it!!
150cc's are a bit tougher to start with kick starter. It could also be a different issue. :/
Some bikes are just garbage. I used to have a 125cc china bike (was sold under the label "Keeway"). You could kick that thing for an hour before it started

Probably jammed up. Defective gears, something in the transmission out of place, etc.
My Kickstarter won't start it either, I change spark plug put in fresh gas and it still won't start

@@NewScooters4Less ok, thanks I got it running now, it was water and stuff in gas tank. I poured last of gasoline from gas container to the very bottom of gas can, I'll never do that again

Hi..As my Fascino battery was weak, I started to try for doing with Kick start. But some days it works..some days it won't...As im a Woman mayb...
And please let me know whether should I need hold Accelerator while kick starting. Because most of the time it get starts..then suddenly get off due to kick was not enough..I feel.

My new Suzuki scooter was mostly unused for about 4 months due to lockdown. Which had a week battery as a result. I rode ot for 1 kms and than I had to kick several times till i hurt my foot to get it start. Can you tell me if that is a normal thing for these new scooters. Why they dont invest in technology to enhance quicker kick starts. Your expertise on this pls ;)
It's pretty normal. Kick start is meant to be back up, but the weaker the battery the harder it will be to kick start it over. May need to pull the battery out and put on a charger and charge it back up! Best wishes!

@@NewScooters4Less How long does it take to charge the battery to get it back to starting off battery? Mine sat 6 weeks, and had to kick start it, and the batter gauge shows 16V, but it won't start off the battery. Accessories are all good, lights and signals strong. DO I need to remove it and bench charge it?
@@Atlridesharejay How old is the battery? May need a new one. Definitely pull it from the scooter and charge it all the way up. Should be 12V not 16.

Would there be any reason why my kick start won't work? Because I try to kick start mine and nothing happens.
Could be several reasons, so I would need a lot more information to help you. Could be bad fuel or gunked up fuel system. Could be no spark. There are a lot of possibilities ☹
Where is the kill switch
Alton Darden there is often one in the side kickstand, so if the side kickstand is down, it won’t start. The other kill switch is on the right-hand switch assembly. Hope that helps!
My scooter is hard to start every morning,,but when the engine start and get warm up,and switch off then start again it one push and start.what do you think is the problem,,thank you,
Super hard to say. Could be several things. What kind of scooter is it? How many miles are on it? Where do you live (is it cold outside, hot outside, etc.)?
I have the exact same problem for weeks on my Piaggio Zip scooter first the electral start didnt work and it took up to 8 kicks for the scooter to start .
Then after it ran for a bit i could shut the scooter off and on again via the normal electral button start up . But then if i put my scooter back in the garage over night the whole problem starts all over again the next day . I almost destroyed my engine today by kickstarting and pressing electral start at same time (i know bad idea xD) .
My tip is if you have the problem every day just bring it to your nearest scooter repair shop for a check-up the problem will only get worse otherwise .

@@Ramon_92 This sounds like a weak battery honestly. You kick start it, it starts... then you drive it around and the charging system charges the battery while driving. Then after it sits overnight, the battery runs out of juice again. Super common. I'd have the battery inspected in this instance.
@@bryanmacaraeg6768 Does it make the sound like it wants to start with your e-start? Tight valves could keep it from starting. Weak battery. Weak spark. Etc. could all be things causing this issue. It's very difficult to narrow it down here. You will probably need to have someone look at it in your area.
will the scooter strart if the battery is completely dead?
Yes. BUT it may take several several several pumps of the kickstart lever to get it to start. Basically, they more dead the battery, the more difficult it will be to start.

I left my key in the ignition, with the kill switch on !! Came back my scooter won't work
Was your key in the "on" position? If so, you killed the battery. You just need to put the kill switch back to the circle and get it off of the 'X' and then charge up your battery (or kickstart your scooter). Hope that helps!
No kill switches on but make sure its on the circle didnt make any sense dude
I said to make sure no kill switches are on. Make sure it's on the O (meaning... not the X, where it won't start). Then make sure the side stand is up so that the kill switch is not engaged in the stand (most of these now of a kill swicth in the kickstand).
