@@traverserthein-between9359 if anythign everything starting Hickman's run on the Fantastic four, and all stories between that and Secret Wars 2015 accidentally feel like "Rise, fall, and redemption of Reed Richards", especially given Hickman's run was Reed meeting evil alternate versions of him at worst, and at best, versions of him that ditched their own families for the sake of "Solving everything".
And later events showed reed losing a lot and seeing his family suffer because of his actions, indirectly or directly, culminating with seeing his wife, children, close family (except Spider-Man / Peter Parker even if the narrative forgets this), and students die alongside the rest of existence with the beginning of secret wars 2015 with reed's redemption being helping bring back the rest of existence, alongside his family, and even healing victor von doom's face despite everything he did to everyone and himself
Now reed is mostly in the side of good, even if he had some occasional hiccups (like building a machine that hides franklin's mutant DNA). although later retcons (that franklin was never a mutant) and the x-men and krakoa's attitude towards said retcon funny enough ended up basically making reed's hiccup look way more justified than it originally was supposed to be

Having got back into wrestling, I noticed something about how comic books handle villains differently from how wrestling handles heels. I'd say villains like Maker, Doctor Doom, Vandall Savage, and others not specifically tied to a hero are what should be more or less the norm. Heels are their own entities in wrestling, and have their own stories. I think comic books should start doing more of this approach to its villains, and I feel that's what makes ones like the Maker so special. He's everyone's villain, a big threat, and his own character.

There is a lot about The Maker that makes him such a cool villain. For me their are two examples I really like; First the creation of the Dome, The City and the Tommorow Children; a new species of hyper evolved humans that had formed their own unique society and were both intelligent and technologically advance enough that they wiped out Asgard and made him cautious to take measures that he won't be surpassed by his own creations which in his words was like "Being the most intelligent Neanderthal among modern man". Second the way he uses his powers in a way creepy compared to his other counterpart like how he forms multiple hands all around his body to work faster and stretching his face to see multiple angles when he operated on Iron man, basically the way he fights as The Maker was like that of a Symbiote all parts of his body would attack even his tongue.

The Tomorrow Children strongly reminded me of the dome of Harvey Jessup and its denisens from a FF story from 1986. It was about a dome Dr. Jessup created to protect his city from nuclear war. It should be inpenetrable and time should flow slower inside it. Unfortunately time was flowing a lot faster and when ironman had weakend the barriers enough to enter the dome, hundreds of years had passed. Later the FF entered the dome to finde a society that was generations ahead of the present and that venerated the FF as gods. Ironically through directed evolution some citicens of that new society had the same powers as the FF, but much more powerfull.
I'm pretty sure the Maker's Tomorrow Children were a kind of tribute to that story.

Every adventure that the Ultimate FF had, was because of what Reed did. From Annihulus, to the Silver Surfer, Reed was responsible every time. The only exception is Thanos, and even then, he tried to fix it on his own, rather than to try and find a way to bring in the Ultimates. Reed always had an arrogance problem, even if he didn't act like it.

Frankly, when Reed became The Maker i was cheering for him, because the Ultimate universe kinda sucked at that point, it felt like he was punching them on my instead
Also, it felt like the FF were kicking Reed preemptively, with Sue saying Reed's good points were learned from Ben, and they breaking up after Reed went to hunt down Namor believing him to be the cause of the tsunami that wrecked new york, he did left her in automatic health care, but that was treated as a selfish thing to do, dafuq?
Then when Sue tried to explode Reed's head when she discovered him working with the pink aliens, and he attacking in anger, Sue simply reported "i found him and he attacked me," completely excluding her attack
I guess the last straw was when Reed asked Ben to join him and Ben refused, it was logical, but it would have been amazing if Reed changed his mind after talking with Ben
Ben was the only one justified on cutting Reed off, the rest was the world pummeling him down until he stopped caring, and if he doesnt care about the world, then the only question is, what is the world good for?
To remake it anew, of course
Thats why the Maker is so cool, because he is moved by his desire to do great stuff

@@OwenLikesComics Same. I think he could be the villain in the third Fantastic Four movie, adapting some elements from the Incursion event, with Fantastic Four and the other MCU heroes trying to prevent Earth from being destroy by the Maker, who wants to eliminate the planet to save his reality. The battle could end with both realities being destroyed, and the only surviors would be the heroes who were in Maker's spaceship. This ending could be the cliffhanger for the fourth and final Fantastic Four movie, which could be adaptation of Secret Wars, with Reed, the Maker and the surviving heroes and villains teaming up to defeat Doctor Doom and restore the multiverse.

9:00 Reed's Maker persona does pop up for the first time with his Children of Tomorrow (1st generation, looking like the Future Foundation) during Ultimate Fallout #4, they were using the people checking out the series focusing around the Death of Spider-Man to tease storylines for all their upcoming series. Hickman has a few pages drawn by Salvador Larroca where he shows what happened to Reed after he was left for dead in the Negative Zone with him escaping and going into the dome. It directly followed the introduction of Miles Morales.

Tbh I think that the Ultimate Universe will get a hard reset sooner than later. They can be meta saying “you were the youngest and came from a broken universe but you were the biggest light and hope they ever had” or something like that, the writers can figure out the semantics. Essentially return Ultimate Peter and let him live a peaceful life or come back as Spider-Man, a Spiderman who became a leader of the Ultimates and a team in general unlike the main one usually is. Great video! Having read the first twenty issues or so of Ultimate FF I found I liked a lot of the concepts the series played around with especially the take on Annihilus and having Sue also be a scientist. Though the unstable creative teams held the series back and I hated Reeds characterization until he went evil.
Personally I miss the Ultimate universe and loved how the concept and creation of supersoldiers was the central theme to most titles. It felt more coherent and the last few years of the universe had some neat stuff with Hickman like his ultimates run. But the bad was really bad like Ultimatum and imo most of the X Men runs. I hate Ultimate Xavier, Jean Grey, Magneto and Wolverine among others characterizations so much, although the weapon x storyline was neat. More Ultimate Marvel videos!

I think the maker is also interesting because he’s nuanced and is also a metaphor for the saying “the path to hell is always paved with good intentions.” Personally Reed was right up until he decided to propose to sue at the funeral. That’s where he went down a dark path but I digress. I love the maker so much because friends of mine and casuals think reed is boring because he’s good or that he’s a tony stark/hank pym clone however the maker illustrates that if he wasn’t a good person and just abandoned notions of good and evil, lives would be ruined. the comic book version of it is not fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.

The whole "Council of Ricks" in 'Rick and Morty' is just a rip off of the 'Council of Reeds' that first appeared years before in Marvel Comics.
I also like the fact that part of The Maker's origins was from a story during John Byrne's run on Fantastic Four, where a scientist friend of Reed thought the world was going to end, so he gathered a community to place in a 'Null Time Bubble', that would open once it was safe.
However, he messed up his calculations, and time within the bubble was faster than on the outside, which led to the community being made of monstrous inbreeds, while the scientist extended his life by cryonics, coming out when needed (can't recall exactly which issue that was in without googling, though).
