    ABOUT ME
    Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you’ll join me in this CZcams journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I’ve gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

    I've been searching the difference between watercolour and gouache past few hours and I didn't saw an explanation like this. This is a masterpiece. Explanation is very clear and very good. Thanks.

    This is the absolute best, clearest and most concise explanation of the differences between watercolor and gouache that I have heard. I have been using watercolor for about five months and just bought my first set of gouache paints and haven't really started yet. When I opened the first tube I couldn't help but wonder why people don't just use gouache as watercolor by adding water or watercolor as gouache by not adding water but now I see the difference. Thank you!

      Glad it was helpful! I remember feeling super confused when I started painting with gouache so I’m glad this could help shed a light on your journey 💕

    I can’t believe no one has commented on this video before. I think it is very helpful for beginners or for artists who are using one medium and want to explore the other.

    I’m really enjoying your channel. This is a wonderful explanation. I do have a question do the two mediums mix. In other words can I start out with watercolor and add gouache Or vice versa?

    • @Pointebrush
      @Pointebrush  Před rokem +3

      I’m glad it was helpful! The answer is YES! And I do this all the time with my work so gouache and watercolor most definitely play nice together. Like you said, I would start with the watercolor and end with the gouache!

    I can’t decide which to get so I guess I’ll just get both! 😬

      Get mostly watercolor and one tube of permanent white gouache. A cheat is that you can “gouachify” watercolors by adding white gouache to them 😉 I do this when I travel 😉

    Margot, please help me: Is Gesso necessary for watercolors paintings ?

    • @Pointebrush
      @Pointebrush  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi there. No gesso necessary for watercolors. Typically gesso is used as a base to prime your material for acrylics or oils sometimes. Just use watercolor paper 👍
