One of my favorite artists of all time! He's a phenomenal songwriter, that's how he made his living for many years. I love his guitar playing, he's fantastic but somehow understated. And that voice, one of the best voices that I personally have ever heard. It stirs my soul. I still feel that he's more of a soul/blues singer than country. But to me, he transcends all genres. He's just an unbelievably talented man. And so humble. Check him out on " Say Something" with Justin Timberlake. " Sometimes I Cry " really showcases his phenomenal singing ability. It will literally blow you away. " Death Row" is awesome too.

I have seen a lot of great bands Kansas, Rush, Jerhro Tull, Robert Cray, then people like James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby , Bonnie Raitt ,Elton John etc but seeing Chris live is a whole new experience. Not sure how to describe it, almost like a religious experience better than any drug. I grew up in 60's-70's so...
He has no bad songs, most are kick ass & slow ones like Broken Halos & Fire Away make you weep, the others bring such joy.
I always feel like I am in the presence of real greatness, one of most humble and genuinely nice guys ever. His wife Morgane could be a star herself, voice like an Angel but can throw that sassy vibe out too. Her harmonies w/Chris are amazing.

I don’t know you, your band, or your channel, but I appreciate everything you said. Chris’s voice is spectacular, and his playing is just as awesome.
I’ve always said that the truly great singers have voices like an orchestra, where they fill in all the spots that their band doesn’t play and you end up with a tapestry of sound and feeling where lesser singers give a thread or two. Chris and Sade are two that come to mind right now.
I don’t know if you have looked at his performance of “Either Way” on the Charlie Rose show, but it fits in with your comment about not needing to play, letting the silence in.
I’ve always felt that great dancers are like that also. They know when to stop moving which contrasts so perfectly to their movements that it is a movement of its own.
    Good job, and good video.

Excellent performance by one of the current Country stars: the voice, the Jazzmaster, the mastery of performance dynamics. Thank You, Dear Fil. Well done!

It's good but overplayed and not really chris's song. He didn't write it and the backing track is from etta james. Fil has such a great musical mind that it would be better to get his take on chris's originals

@Fuzzy Butkus yes and the lyrics aren't his either. People wrote it for David allen Coe back in 1981

This one is great as always with Chris but please check out his performance of COLD at the CMA's this year. It's his best live performance ever in my opinion.
    Simply perfection !

Hey Fil. I’m an old guy that grew up in the 70’s and being from that era; always loved guitar. I don’t play but I tried some, but absolutely love it. I’ve learned a lot from you and appreciate your take on all the different styles of playing. Once I read someone asked Eddie VanHalen who was the best player, and he said “ there is no best player; only different players. Being a great guitarist as you are I love your explanations because you know how it is achieved. I could never figure out why Stevie Ray Vaughn had this unique sound. You explained how he played with these heavy 13 or 14 gauge strings because of his hand strength. That was so great to have that explained, I immediately understood. You are a great singer as well as a great guitarist. So thank you for being open to all styles and appreciateive of other great players and genres. I love Vince Gill, Chris Stapleton; Roy Clark; Grand Funk Railroad and so many others and you. Thanks again my friend

I’m a new subscriber and I enjoy your reactions. I’ve never been much of a fan of country but what I like about Chris Stapleton is his voice can carry over easily into different genres; rock, soul, blues and country. He did an amazing cover of Man’s World by James Brown, performing it with the Shadowboxers, a concert he was attending, and they asked him to come up and perform with him. He was also in a rock band called the Jompson Brothers. I also highly recommend you check out Canadian singer Colter Wall and in particular, the brewery sessions version of The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie. Sleeping on the Blacktop is another good one.

Hey Fil , I think you must be the last CZcams video reviewer to show his music 😅 ....and that's good cuz you have your own style plus you can play ( unlike the other 90% of music "reviewers " who have no idea what real music is.) That's why I'm here every night Fil because you always have something good to say and I always go away feeling I've learned something I didn't no about music before I came here. So keep up the great work & AWESOME playing/singing & songwriting. Best of luck mate.... "ROCK"
