R.I.P. Billy Hodgson. I heard the very sad news earlier. Regrettably, this match was 3 years before I was able to see City for the first time.

I was at the game at Old Trafford in April of the following year when we won by a solitary David Herd goal. Looking at my old programmes, Billy Hodgson played that day at inside left. I have stronger memories of the game in 1967 in which David Herd broke his leg, but I don't think Hodgson played that day. Both Leicester goals were scored by Sinclair.

@@mnd1955David Herd-what a prolific goalscorer he was. I do believe Matt Gillies (City’s manager) expressed an interest in him at some stage in the mid-60s. Perhaps it was to replace Ken Keyworth (someone may want to correct me on this one). I read up on David when he very sadly passed away and the small family gathering that took place at his funeral in Scotland.

Matt paid £35,000 for him from Arsenal in 1961. We were rebuilding after Munich. Denis Law followed shortly after and he and Herd formed a formidable partnership. Was Matt Gillies in charge for the 1963 cup final?

The players and stadiums change, but the results never do.
