- Randy moved to Boquete, Panama, more than three years ago. He was living well on a modest Social Security pension. Then restaurants started charging a lot more, and it was getting harder for him to find affordable rentals in Boquete. So, he moved to David. He reduced his cost of living by 50% by moving to David.
His pension goes a lot further living in David. He has a nicer house and can eat out more often because of the affordable prices in David. David has nice grocery stores, more shipping options, and three large hospitals. Randy is about 30 minutes to the beach and 10 minutes from the airport.
Check out David Panama when you come on a scouting trip to Panama! You'll be amazed.

Congratulations on your move to David. I've seen your earlier video and you are still sending a positive message even after your adjustment. It's nice to have options in life! Looking forward to taking the tour with my wife this summer.
Thanks for watching the follow up video with Randy! I'm glad it was helpful
I really like the cooler weather in the mountains
@@JayCo- me too
hello Randy! I have watched your video a couple of times and I am glad to know you are still happy living in Panama and the practicalities of living only on Social Security. I hope to be able to move there when I start collecting. With inflation it's a little disappointing that the price gouging is going on there as well. Because honestly inflation doesn't really affect rent unless the landlord just wants to make more money in most instances. I want a place that is cool at night. Daytime doesn't matter. But I cannot sleep in the heat. I took the tour in 2021 and will coming again in April, repeating the tour. I don't really feel adventurous enough yet to do it all on my own. Hopefully when I am ready to go, I can sell my home here and be able to make the move. And yes Panama seems to be the easiest to get residency. Although Mexico is less expensive, their residency requirement for income is ridiculous.
I'm glad the follow up video with Randy was helpful! You're right, it's super easy to qualify for and get a visa in Panama!
Randy, you did a great job explaining all the details. You answered every question I could think of. Thank you.
I am so glad the video was helpful.
Another great video! I appreciate the cost of housing info Boquete vs David. I hope Randy can resolve his skin cancer issue!! That's serious business. 💙
That was very informational. Wow! I appreciate your honesty and thoughtful approach to your choices.
Thanks! I'm glad the video was informative! It shows that there are good choices all over Panama.
May I recommend drinking fresh blended Soursop fruit (Guanabana in Spanish). The leaves also make an effective tea. Gwyneth Paltrow's extremely popular Super Goop sunscreen line has a 50% formula. Best Wishes.
When I started considering and researching early retirement about two years ago, I stumbled onto your first video. It inspired me to move forward and look into Panama. I will be on the PRT next month and cant wait😂. I’ve often wondered how you were getting along. I’m glad to see all is well. 👍. Thanks Again
I'm glad the follow up video with Randy was helpful.
Besure and message me on Facebook when you are here. Be glad to meet you
@@randyrogers4644 Will do. 👍
Hey Randy, Thank you! I have a friend in David but I have not visited YET. I'm planning too visit talk soon. Thanks for a good, honest little overview off your experience in Panama. Gives me hope. I'm thinking that Jackie's tour is the key that got you there, yes? Knowing what you know, would you have done it any other way? Best of luck to you, Randy. You seem happy, satisfied and a rock solid kind of guy I would be proud to know.
Many blessings,
Mitch in West Sacramento, Ca.

Thank you and best of luck. The part II videos are great.
Glad you like them!
Excellent review and feedback from this gentleman
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video very clear and concise
Enjoyed this video and I like David. Thanks.
Very first time watching your video, Panama is in my relocation plan, but I didn't know yet which way to go. I thank you so very much for sharing your experience with us. Yes, see you in Panama.
Hello from Alabama.
Thank you so much for this helpful update!
You are so welcome!
From $300 to $550 in 3 years and 4 months? That's almost double! That's more than a 20% increase per year. Many of us elderly retirees want to rent because we're tired of the burden of home ownership. Jackie, is this typical of Panama rent increases? Perhaps you can address rent increases in one of your videos.
barb, these were two completely different rentals. NOT the same place. It is not typical for rentals to go up from year to year. My rentals have been the same price for 8 years with no increases. Food prices are some restaurants have gone up but you can always get an affordable $5 full meal at a Panamanian restaurant.
I spent a couple weeks in David and I'm sure I could live there, especially if I can easily afford it on $1,774/month (preferably less). I'm going to give it a try. 😄
You will LOVE living in Panama!!
❤ Thank you!
Thanks. If not thought of David....

Hey Randy, so sorry to hear about your wife. I lost my wife to cancer in 2016 ( after 33 years). Panama is on my radar. I hope to make it down there within 6 months. I’d love to buy you lunch and a beer and we could swap experiences. Keep your hat on. 😁
Thanks for watching!
Sounds great to me
I already live n a beautiful place on a beach. But the populous moving n here has ruined it for all of us. I want to go to Panama. Thanks for the video.
Sorry to hear that
I'm hoping to do the same thing, live off my Social Security and am as well some of a country boy
Main problem now is getting my passport which has been since the end of January since I applied, also don't feel I can afford any extra expenses at this time, but I am in good health, 75 and wishing I were retired.
Anyway trying to figure out just what I can afford and quite aware that the ideal way to do the whole thing is to rent for a while, then decided where to settle down.
you'll be able to live well in Panama on just your social security. I hope you get your passport soon!

Hi Randy. Thank you for the great video. How hot does it get in David?
daytime temps are 90 degrees (+ or - 5)
Hello Randy, Thanks for the review. I'm a born and raised Panamanian and after going back home for a week last year I was so damn disappointed and disgusted with the neighborhood I was raised at. Calidonia is not the same at all, but I will be looking into David. I have nine more years to go before retirement, so now is the time to start looking. Are their any condominiums in that area? Thanks again, and I hope you keep enjoying what my country has to offer.
Yes. They are building condos at the entrance to La Riviera
There are condos and single family homes in David. Randy LOVES living in Panama.
Hi Randy . I really enjoyed your video. Are you able to share what your total expenses are for a calendar month.
Best wishes in your retirement.@@randyrogers4644
I’m in KY a friend of mine from TN &I are wanting to move there we are vets so we r use to traffic like that
you will love living in Panama. There are a LOT of Veterans living in Panama. Check out this article -- panamarelocationtours.com/veterans-medical-benefits-in-panama
I have lived my life on the Texas gulf coast, and the Louisiana gulf coast….both hot and humid 9 months out of the year. Both my husband and I are looking for a cooler year round climate. A couple of years ago we were talking about Boquete as everything I saw in videos, and reading the climate sounded perfect for our wants. Is Boquete the only place that has this near perfect weather?
There are other Panama highland towns with great weather. Boquete, Alto Boquete, Volcan, El Valle de Anton, Sante Fe, Sora, Altos del Maria, and other towns above 3000 foot elevation so you won't need an air conditioner.
Very interersting Randy! Thanks. How much was all that top shelf "liquid medicine" shown in your rental home? 😜
Hahaha.
Did you have a realtor, if so do you have a reference?
He did not use a real estate agent.
Hi Randy. I just got here and landed in Boquete. I considered David before I moved here, but I was terrified of the language barrier. Would I be ok with Google translate until I get better at Spanish?
Yes, you'll do fine with Google Translate until you learn some basic Spanish.
What was your total cost to become a resident?
About $1100 to get a pensionado visa with our immigration lawyers.
Hey I can’t be around mold and mildew are the houses in that area bad for that?
Because Panama is in the tropics, some homes have mold and mildew. You need to be very careful about selecting a place to live that does not have it.
how hot does it get in David?
hi temps about about mid-90s
92f
A year later, how is Randy doing?
My dear buy that sunscreen and a sun blocking hat. Sorry occupation hazard of being a nurse. Nice to see you enjoying yourself
As a nurse, I would not recommend sunscreen but Coconut(unrefined) oil instead.
@@lvncsr6166 because of chemical? I use a natural zinc oxide sunscreen on my precancerous spots
