Fun fact, you can travel from the center of Manhattan to the center of London without going outside? Here's how.
    1. Take the E, J, or Z train to Sutpin Blvd/Archer Avenue
    2. Go up two levels and take the AirTrain to JFK Terminal 4
    3. Take Virgin Atlantic to London Heathrow
    4. At London Heathrow, transfer to the London Underground
    5. Take the London Underground to the center of London
You have arrived in London without stepping a single foot outside. While it may not feel like being in the same city, I believe it adds a certain kind of connection between New York and London you may not get with other cities

I much prefer London. In regards to food. In the US food is full of chemicals that are outright banned here in Europe. So I'd put London ahead on food. Cool video. ✌️

London's biggest attractions are free - British Museum, Natural History Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern, V&A, Science Museum, Sky Garden etc. This includes the world's two largest arts and antiquities museums, largest natural history collection, largest modern art gallery.

It depends more on the exchange rate than anything else. Currently, the USD is relatively strong, so that make everything in London cheaper.

I have been to both and I love love love London! It feels cleaner and less congested. Also, as others have mentioned, the big attractions are free! Oh and the Tube is quieter, easier to navigate, and feels much safer then the New York City subway.

London restaurants are way cheaper than New York restaurants. Point should have gone to London on this one! There are bagels and pizza by the slice in London too! And if you want iconic cheap eats that real Londoners eat go get a meal deal at M&S and get a coronation chicken sandwich for £3.50 or go to Greg’s for a £1 sausage roll. And we also have a Chinatown where you can get cheap buns from a Chinese bakery. You let him have that one! Haha

NYC subway might technically be "cheaper" but the London Underground encourages shorter trips which I think makes for a more efficient, better system. That's just my opinion tho.
Also, it's not really that confusing once you get into it. NYC subway system is a lot more complicated in my opinion.

Tipping makes all the difference in NY vs London, it increases the price of most eating/drinking out things. One thing to factor in though is the exchange rate, the Pound is still pretty low vs the Dollar compared to historical norms, so it depends which way you are travelling.

This is what I was waiting for a comparison to these two cities. Glad London was best and oddly enough I live just 3 states away from New York but I only travel to London. Will be back early next year 8th time since 2013 ! So even if London was 3 times more expensive -London is still my destination. A rarity for a couple who do not drink, so we save lots of money that way and put it into other things like a nice apart/hotel. Jess could you get more lovelier ! Good job you two !!

It's true. I live in Brooklyn, NYC all my life, but I really wanna visit London, and see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Camden Market, Buckingham Palace, etc. As a native New Yorker, I've seen a lot of hotels, art galleries and nice restaurants, pubs, bars, clubs, Broadway, too. Thanks for sharing the info of both cities, Jon and Jess. Fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 are my favourite examples of food from the UK 🇬🇧 that I had in New York City all the time.

  • @AA-yl4wq

I’m from the UK and live just outside of London. (Am very familiar with London)
I just visited NYC recently for the first time and have to say both London and NYC are amongst the greatest cities in the world.
NYC has its fair share of problems in certain areas like homelessness, begging and some lunatic people which you wont find on the same scale in London but where NYC gets it right it simply is unmatched and will totally blow you away.
Both are amazing places and if you get to see both in your life you are privileged.

Going by my recent US trip it’s about equal. Only difference is the price of gas which isn’t really a factor if you’re a tourist in either of these cities. They always used to say if you could afford to travel to USA it was cheap when you got there. But not anymore. Most of the major museums in London are now free.

Hotels with small rooms like those mentioned in this video at points are a great way to cut costs if you don't want to actually spend time in your hotel except for sleeping/showering. I'm always surprised when I glance at reviews of hotels where I've had a great comfortable stay and see negative reviews talking about "omg the room was so small and we couldn't make tea there!" so really only consider those if you understand that you're not gonna have tonnes of luxury space and amenities. I think that's true of both London and NYC!

Unless you’re going to spend a great deal of time at the hotel then you’re right. What I also look for in negative reviews are for constant reservation snafus and very poor customer service. Not just a one off, but a consistent. One review I read a couple that was just staying one night was so frightened, they piled up their luggage on the inside of the door. Yikes.

    • @Jeevesie1988
      @Jeevesie1988 Před rokem +2

@BostonBobby1961 Feeling safe wherever you're staying is always an important consideration for sure. Though yikes, that sounds like a pretty extreme and hopefully rare example. Hope those folks were able to find somewhere that made them feel more secure.

Cool video about the 2 Cities NYC and London. NYC consists of the 5 boroughs, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. Hotels food and drink are usually cheaper outside Manhattan
London is a beautiful city but sorry I'm not a fan of flying..
Sporting events. Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Knicks, Nets Tickets and food and drinks can be very expensive. Just budget your self.
I like to go to Brooklyn Cyclones. They are class " A " ball property of the Mets. Tickets are cheap. Food and drink is reasonable.

Fellow New Yorker (Manhattanite) in London. I have stayed in both East (Shoreditch, Hackney, Stoke Newington) and Central London (Soho, Marybone, Bloomsbury), I would say, London is a tad cheaper. Especially food and drinks; grocery is like 15% less than NYC even with 1.2 conversion rate.
Also correction on wine in NYC. There is no decent bar will serve sub $10 wines; it is average $14 and up

Well, the biggest deal for someone to go to eather London ore New York, is how expensive and difficult it is to go somewhere.
For me (I live in Denmark) it's much cheaper to go to London than New York. It is also easier because I dont have to transfer planes if I fly from my local airport.

Tip if you want see the statue of liberty dont pay for it instead take the satten island ferry its free and you can get some great views of the statue Also when I was in London out while many museums are free they do have special exhibits that you have to pay for if you want to see them the average price was £15\$19 now if you’re one or two people that’s not too bad but if you’re a group of 4-5 people and everyone wants to go that’s $95/£75 that can add up
