My brother in law has a 2006 w220 s65 AMG in mint condition with less than 40k miles. Only 427 made for US market for 1 year only, and it’s the first year of the M275 v12 biturbo AMG motor in the 65 models. Love the AMG line!
I remember seeing 2 SL65's come to our dealer back in 2009. Same guy purchased both... Also take note that 350 units were built for worldwide sale. only 200 of those got sent to the USA.
I bought a E55 W210 a couple of Days ago. Now it sits in a Garage waiting for better Weather. I have to repair a lot but i think it will be a great car.

And i was looking for one of these as my first car with 18 years but couldnt find one. Then i bought a clk 200 convertible as my first car. Now i have both. Thats great. Also it has great equipment like xenon lights, cooled seats and parking sensors.

A great video as always. However, the Black Series cars are in an entirely different category, so I think they should be considered separately from 'regular' AMG cars. Black Series cars are insanely expensive from day one, are of extremely limited availability (especially in USA), and are TOO VALUABLE TO DRIVE, which really sucks. On the other hand, Mercedes is now making so many 'AMG' cars that the latest ones are TOO common. For example, the ONLY way a new SL can be had now is as an AMG car. Leave it to Mercedes to mess up a good thing by watering down AMG's exclusivity through over production.

Seeing as rarity is a criteria for a increase in value, what do you think wil happen with the value of Mercedes CLS 55 AMG IWC (including the wristwatch that came with it), that only was made in 55 examples?
I was never even aware of this car until about a year ago and still find it fascinating especially that paint work! I would say it could definitely be a contender but only time will tell.

He explained the rarity and the unique features and I was amazed that I'd never heard of it. Granted it never came to my home country of South Africa, but as a Mercedes-Benz fan even I had never heard of this vehicle.
I Would say the W220 S65 AMG fits the four criteria yet won’t be appreciating in value over time although there is one on the US market now with 7k mileage with MSRP of $107,000
Thanks for the upload! I'm seriously confused why the W220 S65 AMG that were only made in 627 units are so low valued considering not many of them are around these days. Not many even know that they exist, they think the S55's the top of the chain when they are not! I get some low ball offers on mine with just 39500 miles on it... then again, I'm in a tiny country many people mistake for Switzerland.... yepp... Sweden... So there's not a lot of buyers here knowing what kind of car it really is!

Thats why i can't let the clk go. I've been bit by the AMG bug awhile ago. When I got my first AMG, the FIRST behind the Iconic C36 AMG. Where it all began on the assembly line in house - The infamous C43 AMG! 💪🏼😎💯

Not really. Time is always the equalizer for the rare car market. For decades you could buy a Detomasa Pantera for pennies. And on a long enough timeline they exploded in value and will never go back down. Rare cars like a C63 black series tend to not drop in value when they see this kind of boom. The growth in value may slow down, but the value never will.
You didnt mention the C63 507 Edition. I think it will be flying up in value and along with the standard C63 W204 in mint condition in the next 10 years as electric cars and hybrids and turbo cars increase

At 355 produced, wouldn't the R230 gen SL65 AMG Roadster fit this criteria too? After all it's the end of the V12 hardtop roadster SL era with 621hp/738TQ. Fitted with just modern tires [Michellin PS4S] it will match the performance of the BS version. A 2009 SL65 roadster was just bid up to $72k on BaT and a Chicago dealer has two on sale for $92k and $115k.

not in the same way, if you want to get close to what you paid/a small profit you’d likely need to sell it by the end of this year. considering doing that with my 2014 507, had it for two years and put some good miles on it but I want something bigger now.
Mostly unchanged being that the engines are mechanically identical and the only differences being a better engine map, better engine mounts, and a better exhaust system. In the real world you won't be able to tell a difference in straight line performance as confirmed by Car and Driver Magazine getting the same 116mph trap speed in the 1/4 mile for both the CLK63 cab and the CLK63 Black Series. The purpose of the Black Series was to dramatically improve how the CLK corners.
It's just sad to see how some of these cars are getting higher in value, especially the normal SLS, which was 250k euros in my country when new, and it's still on 200k actually.

I keep wondering if my 2007 (C219) CLS63 AMG will become sought after and increase in value. In terms of the criteria: 1. The CLS is already quite rare and even rarer in the 55/63 AMG variants. I don't know the exact production numbers but I would imagine they are not very high, less than 5000 perhaps. 2. The CLS created the first of its kind segment of the 4-door coupé which was then copied by other manufacturers. I think the first generation has a stunning design with its shark-like profile and tapered rear end. It certainly turns heads and I've had a lot of people walk up to me and ask me about what kind of car it is or how I found it. 3. Perhaps not the best drivers car, the CLS was developed to be a comfortable cruiser rather than an outright performance machine. It has the power but it's big and heavy. The Airmatic can be stiffened but it's not a car you will be throwing around corners easily. 4. My car is in excellent condition, no mechanical defects, full service history and a full bill of health from Mercedes-Benz. I had it paint corrected and ceramic coated for extra protection. Some minor paint touch-ups perhaps and the odd trim piece that might need a polish but that's about it. Guess time will tell, as always thanks for great AMG content.
I have a 2006 w219 AMG with 95k miles on it. I bought it in Dec 2019 before the pandemic. Id like to think I at least bought it at the bottom of it's depreciation. It's a driver so probably not considered a collector car but I'd like to think at some point low mile/pristine examples would. The 1st generation CLS just hasn't seemed to grab collector car attention yet. Not much professionally made content on YT about them either.
@@danzimmermann9122 Best we start to upload some content on our cars. I bought mine last last year and I currently have 119000km on it, low for a 2007 but perhaps not collector low. It is not a daily but I make sure to drive it at least twice a week to keeps things running. This weekend I plan to try out the Liqui Molly hydraulic lifter treatment to see if it helps my infamous lifter ticking noise. I do however think that big engined cars will gain some fame in time because of the rise of the Hybrid/Electric future so perhaps we have to hold on a little longer.
Isn't it strange how the w202 C36 and C43 remain so undervalued? You can pick up a clean one for $10k. The C36 is historic as the last car built entirely by AMG. The C43 is historic for being the first AMG built under the merger as well as being the first V8 C-class. It might be because they nerfed the C43 by using the 4.3 litre instead of the 5.4. A bone stock w202 C55 (of which very few were made, special order only) was faster than an E39 M5 at the time, which is still considered "fastest sedan on earth" from that period.
SL65 body kits are stupidly cheap for any R230 SLs although for performance you’d need to base on a SL55. You’d still have the foldable roof and ABC suspension but hey they are the best thing about the car, as for any performance gain of a real SL65 over a SL55 it’s academic no one can plant their foot to the floor in either car for more than a few seconds….. In the UK body kitted SL500s go for £10k or $11k - hope that conversion rate is going to change soon
What about my 2003 E500 sport W211 I've had it for about 9 months and have never seen another one anywhere all I ever see is E320s .... lol I know it ain't no AMG but it seems rare lately.
@@geemanbmw in my country we must have two or three E500 w211s, however, there are hundreds of diesel w211s, I already had an E270 CDI. The only E500 I saw for sale in my country was last year, and the value was €20,000 with about 200k kms.

Yes especially the South African only Legacy Edition in the Viper Mango Green, which was based on the 507 but of which only 10 were made.

Well, that's okay. My SLK 350 AMG 2013 69,000 miles didn't make the list. I enjoy driving my hoopty and receive compliments all the time.

Well, they are going to be 4 cylinder hybrids. I really could not care less if they bring them here or not.

I keep wondering if my 2007 (C219) CLS63 AMG will become sought after and increase in value. In terms of the criteria:
1. The CLS is already quite rare and even rarer in the 55/63 AMG variants. I don't know the exact production numbers but I would imagine they are not very high, less than 5000 perhaps.
2. The CLS created the first of its kind segment of the 4-door coupé which was then copied by other manufacturers. I think the first generation has a stunning design with its shark-like profile and tapered rear end. It certainly turns heads and I've had a lot of people walk up to me and ask me about what kind of car it is or how I found it.
3. Perhaps not the best drivers car, the CLS was developed to be a comfortable cruiser rather than an outright performance machine. It has the power but it's big and heavy. The Airmatic can be stiffened but it's not a car you will be throwing around corners easily.
4. My car is in excellent condition, no mechanical defects, full service history and a full bill of health from Mercedes-Benz. I had it paint corrected and ceramic coated for extra protection. Some minor paint touch-ups perhaps and the odd trim piece that might need a polish but that's about it.

I have a 2006 w219 AMG with 95k miles on it. I bought it in Dec 2019 before the pandemic. Id like to think I at least bought it at the bottom of it's depreciation. It's a driver so probably not considered a collector car but I'd like to think at some point low mile/pristine examples would. The 1st generation CLS just hasn't seemed to grab collector car attention yet. Not much professionally made content on YT about them either.
@@danzimmermann9122 Best we start to upload some content on our cars. I bought mine last last year and I currently have 119000km on it, low for a 2007 but perhaps not collector low. It is not a daily but I make sure to drive it at least twice a week to keeps things running. This weekend I plan to try out the Liqui Molly hydraulic lifter treatment to see if it helps my infamous lifter ticking noise. I do however think that big engined cars will gain some fame in time because of the rise of the Hybrid/Electric future so perhaps we have to hold on a little longer.

So the CL55 only 3000 made worldwide, around 300 delivered to the UK, only 98 left on the road and I can't even sell mine......

The basic rules are: when the top goes dowm, the price goes up; 2 doors are better than 4 doors; 2 seaters are better than 4 seaters.
Isn't it strange how the w202 C36 and C43 remain so undervalued? You can pick up a clean one for $10k. The C36 is historic as the last car built entirely by AMG. The C43 is historic for being the first AMG built under the merger as well as being the first V8 C-class. It might be because they nerfed the C43 by using the 4.3 litre instead of the 5.4. A bone stock w202 C55 (of which very few were made, special order only) was faster than an E39 M5 at the time, which is still considered "fastest sedan on earth" from that period.

SL65 body kits are stupidly cheap for any R230 SLs although for performance you’d need to base on a SL55. You’d still have the foldable roof and ABC suspension but hey they are the best thing about the car, as for any performance gain of a real SL65 over a SL55 it’s academic no one can plant their foot to the floor in either car for more than a few seconds….. In the UK body kitted SL500s go for £10k or $11k - hope that conversion rate is going to change soon

@@geemanbmw in my country we must have two or three E500 w211s, however, there are hundreds of diesel w211s, I already had an E270 CDI. The only E500 I saw for sale in my country was last year, and the value was €20,000 with about 200k kms.
