- Mahout Song, Hastir Koyna, a Goalporia/ Koch-Rajbongshi folk song of the Mahouts of western Assam and some parts of Bengal and Bangladesh. Mahout song has been sung with different lyrics by Mahouts in Assam & West Bengal since ages. A mahout is an elephant rider, trainer, or keeper. Usually, a mahout starts as a boy in the family profession when he is assigned an elephant early in its life.

What is the language of the song? Is it assamese? Or sylheti, or any other variation of assamese or bengali language!
Rajbongshi Language.
The same tune almost the same wordings with same appeal, the deferences are 'gadiyal and cart' instead of 'elephant and Mahut' in Bangladesh we call it "The Bhawaiya song." The song is sung deeply no doubt but its not supposed to be Asamide or Asamiya/Ahamiya.
This is not Assamese, this is Kamatapuri /Deshi song. And bhawaiya is from the same region where the Kamatapuri and shared cultures are there.
