- In this video we show you how we turned our Dodge grand caravan 2005 into a camper.
We built it from scratch, with ZERO pre-knowledge on carpentry.

I think your method is mold and condensation resistant. plus you get the transition from sleeping to dining to lounging with storage. Awesome!!

That is really cool bed design...it's your bed as well as seating with a table that's in between the seating sections & a drawer that pulls out with your camp stove on it...very cool,basically its your bed & kitchen in 1 package,makes excellent use of the amount of space that the van has...
They should have a competion for mini-van conversions, yours would place high for simplicity and function!

Based on the Amdro Boot Jump made in Wales in the UK, Suspect that's where the Idea came from. They have been going well over 10 years.
He knows how to build most of us don't and will just mess up good wood trying. Find something else for a bed or have someone like him build you one.
We didn’t really have any experience with wood prior to this build. We were just very lucky to have a friend with all the tools we needed to do the job. We used playwood, and got the pieces cut at Rona.

Paul Paquette Hello Paul! We don't want to make money ou of it, we want to share them. Unfortunately I don't have the notebook where we draw the firsts drafts, and design with us right now, but we have the construction in our Iivingroom at the moment, so we just have to measure it and create a step-by-step guide. we intend to share them soon here :)
Paul Paquette It is #1on list of what I have seen! Thinking of doing an Honda Odyssey like that. Would also be interested in what it took took make it so functional. Truly a great camper van.

What's with everyone asking for the "spec's" ? If you cant figure it out from this video, you probably can't build it. Have to design it for every flavor of van anyway.

That's a pretty awesome build. Pretty close to what I got in mind for mine. If you are interested in adding a battery system I have been doing a tonnnnnnne of research. All I can say, is mini fridge on an inverter is the way to go. Lithium Iron phosphate. Isn't it nice how the standard size of a tri-fold mattress is 24 inch segments, and the van is 4 feet tall inside?

Happy New Year, I hope you are well. I just purchased a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I am hoping to get my hands on some design files (ideally I can open in TinkerCAD format .stl, .obj or .svg, or any drawings/diagrams/measurements of bed/cabinet/kitchen alternate setups etc) that I can take inspiration from modify to my personal liking to incorporate a combination of the best as possible. I thought I might ask if you would be so kind as to forward any design files that you have that may help me, also if you are aware currently of any useful/necessary items for vanlife selling at a really good price/value currently I would very much appreciate any help/advice you can provide.

Plaining on going to Florida from Toronto roundtrip about a 24 hour just thought I’d ask this question if anyone can help me, I got a 01 dodge caravan (3.3 litr v6) with 135km changed a lot of things on it like breaks some suspension mechanic says it should be ok but still worried it won’t make it? Maybe I’m overthinking ? What you guys think?
We used our van for a trip from Vancouver to Dawson City (Yukon), roundtrip, and we had no issues with it! Enjoy your trip @xavie905

Does anyone know how long the cargo area is in a dodge caravan and how wide. I want to figure out how long the bed frame would be and still close the back hatch.
Jim Bronaugh The bed lenght is 1,80 meters, and once the bed is open, there is still like around 60 cm left. The width of the bed is 1,20 meters

I'm confused as to why so many people comment negatively on these van build outs. Not everyone with a van build out are homeless. I live in an apartment and my van buildout is used for weekend overnight visits to all the beautiful mountains and beaches we have here in North Carolina without having to pay crazy high hotel prices. No the facts before criticizing. Also, there are many people who live in vans for various reasons, but it isn't any concern of yours if they aren't bothering anyone. I wish I could live in one full-time for no other reason than I enjoy it.

It's not so realistic when it comes to your day to day, living in a city, small town, etc. You want something that gives you privacy, no setup, you can just turn around and walk behind your chair, and do what you need. If people see u opening ur doors, showing u live in a van, u won't have it long, police harassment, and you are a target. Americans are EXTREMELY nosey and Love to gossip, tell your business, and crime is very high. It's plain unsafe. Cute if u are using for vacationing in quiet, isolated, and low traffic areas, but trying to do this all day, 7 days a week, after a long day at work isn't practical. I wouldn't desire to open my doors, pull all that out, to get what I need, but rather have it accessible from inside. No1 would walk outside their home to do this daily so why in a van? It's a simple, unique, and great way for "camping" but it's a no for me day 2 day. Speaking from experience.
