    I love the Dyson AM07 Cool Fan. My mom bought one off of QVC last summer and never even opened it. Anyway, I asked if I could have it when I moved into my new house in July 2023. I have it in my bedroom, it’s very quiet and I keep the house at 68 degrees in the summer when it gets 95-110 degrees outside. It takes the surrounding cool air and recycles the cool air through. I get back sweat in 80 degree temperatures. I work outside Monday through Friday for UPS, in the extreme heat and cold. I run my Dyson in the winter as it recycles the 72 degree air in my house as well. I fall asleep without covers in the summer but because of this fan I wake up with a blanket over me. It’s only been a year and thus far no issues.

    I own one of these so here's my review:
    What it is: It's a conventional fan. It provides the exact same functionality and cooling as a standard fan, just with a different form factor.
    Design: The lower section houses a compressor which forces air up into the top oval/halo section, which is just a large piece of plastic with a slit around the inner circumference which creates a jet of air.
    Features: 10 speed settings. Sleep timer configurable between 15/30/45 mins and a number of hours. Oscillating function which has a very satisfying smooth motion to it. All controllable through the remote control which magnetizes to the top of the unit for safe keeping.
    Noise: On the lower settings it is quieter than a conventional fan, on the higher settings it's louder than a conventional fan. The sound it makes is different to other fans as you're hearing the "hiss" of a jet of air rather than the "whoosh" of a bladed fan.
    Price: Its an ordinary fan that blows air about, priced at £350. Its design offers no cooling benefits over any other fan. An honest breakdown of the price is that you're paying perhaps £150 for this elegant, modern, and unique design, plus a mandatory £200 "flashy show-off appliance tax". This is probably the most Apple-esque product that Dyson makes, in the sense that the price can only be justified by the prestige of the brand and attractiveness of the design, since the performance specs are matched by options that retail for a fraction of the price.
    Verdict: Dyson's design brief for their bladeless fans was not to design the best fan. It was to design the most modern and elegant looking fan. Its practically a piece of modern art. If you just want a fan to cool you down, this is ludicrously overpriced. If you want something that will add a sleek modern touch to your home which you'll proudly leave on display all year round in any room, then the price is justified.

      I have it and totally agree with this review. I bought it for its looks because I think ordinary fans look hideous, and I was aware Iw as paying 350 quid just to have something that looks good, not necessarily that does the job better.

      Thank you for this review/feedback, it basically made clear that I will not be buying one, I suspected it still had a fan as on Argos it says: Mixed flow impeller
      Using technologies found in turbochargers and jet engines, a mixed flow impeller draws air into the machine. The eleven impeller fins are asymmetric, so each one harmonises with the others, balancing the tone. And every one has a scalloped trailing edge, to reduce turbulence and further improve acoustics.
      Airfoil-shaped ramp
      After the impeller builds air pressure, up to 38 litres of air per second is forced up into the eccentrically aligned loop. It’s then accelerated over an airfoil-shaped ramp, which harnesses the Coanda effect to manipulate the powerful flow of air. Airflow clings to the ramp, which is angled at precisely 16° - channelling its direction for optimum personal cooling. Also the Noise level 62dB
      There are cheaper and much quieter alternatives in the tower fan range. Dyson Hoovers are the only best thing that was innovative. As in it genuinely does not lose suction even with a full tank.
      Thanks

    Idk, I was looking to invest in one of these as it's supposedly blade less but then found that wasnt the case.
    It has a "Mixed flow impeller" (a type of fan)
    As for the noise level, according to Argos and many other retailers It has a Noise level of 62dB.
    Impeller design after a turbocharged jet engine, jet engines aren't silent. There are tower fans that are quieter using traditional motor and vertical blade.

    we have a Dyson Cool fan / tower fan AM07 there, about 4 years old, it has run a maximum of 100 hours. Now it has started spinning around at night, even if it is switched off, it stands there spinning until we get up and pull the plug. If we turn it on and it should stay firmly in place and blow, it also suddenly starts to turn. It is/wasn't a cheap fan, it cost DKK 2490. And if you look at it, yes, suddenly it is a VERY VERY expensive fan. Can only tell others SAVE THE MONEY and buy something else!!! The fact that your product cannot handle / last for a maximum of 100 hours makes it a really expensive and bad product
    Unfortunately, we thought that Dyson would be a quality product, unfortunately it is not

    For the people complaining about how it isn't an air conditioner, it literally says it's a cooling fan in the summer, and it does cool you down, however, take in consideration, that the technology in this device or series of devices is revolutionary, nobody has successfully created this before Dyson did, that's why there are patents behind it. The fan circulates the air in the room, and if you have an air conditioner, that will make the experience sooo much better. Air conditioners actually make the air colder, and also dehumidify the air, so its dryer, so a fan combined with an air conditioner is gonna be a way better experience especially in the sweltering heat. The air hitting you is very smooth, it was designed that way. The fact that you can stick your fucking arm through it, is a futuristic dream that people have dreamed about for decades. So for the money, i would say it is a bit pricey, but for the idea, to consider what this man did to create it, the design, the concept, and the efficiency (saves a lot of energy and money) I think its worth it, plus the purifier is amazing, totally works, leaves a very pleasant smell and is very quiet, and their customer service is very wonderful, they gave me 20% off or rewards points because of a concern i had over their product, rest assured they helped me, and wanted me to have a great experience. Obviously on the 10 setting at its most powerful, its gonna be a bit more noisy, but for the most part its totally relaxing. If that annoys you, you probably get annoyed by somebody farting too loud. Dyson makes great products, at least from my point of view.

      Yet any fan can do that. I have a Dyson and several fans. Grant it, a Dyson does it more effectively, but it also louder than your typical fan, so if you're in the living room with both the air conditioner and Dyson on, don't expect to be able to hear the television, without turning the volumn up

    You don't say how efficient it is at cooling a room, or how loud it is in comparison with other fans or how exactly it works. Why the odd shape? Does it cool the air as well as push it around? Would this be a better option than buying a portable air conditioner?

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  Před 5 lety +5

      These fans are designed to move air around at speed giving the impression it is cooling the same as any fan, they are not cooling the air like an air conditioner. If you need it to cool the air, then you would be better with an air conditioner.
      The shape is because it can cover a larger area to move the air around compare to a small one.

    I wasn’t too impressed by the Dyson AM07 Cooling fan. First of all it doesn’t really cool the air at all it just moves the air around. They love mentioning that the fan has no blades on it but when they take it apart there’s blades lol My mom has the dual purpose fan that has cool and heat and she doesn’t think the fan would really sell by itself if it wasn’t for the heat. The Dyson AM07 cool fan doesn’t really work too well the further away from the fan. And like other comment sounds like a 747 right next to your head. If you are a light sleeper I don’t care what price they sell it I think it’s a over glorified fan that’s over priced. It’s parts might last a long time but are you going to sleep well that close to what sounds like a jet plane

Can still feel the air moving well 6 feet away, which is farther than I would expect from a desk fan. My daughter dropped twice and still works. I haven't checked out how long it lasts on a charge yet, but the air output was still good for the few minutes it was unplugged. My daughter also likes the color lights feature, but I don't really care for it and can be annoying to go through all the options before it turns off. @@lords-electrical Thank you very much for that. I wanted to ask the question "out loud" so others could see a professional's answer on this question. Mr Dyson is very clever indeed; of that there is no doubt. I am sure he is very financially comfortable (and deservedly) indeed as a consequence of his amazing talent/s.. I do however think this/these products are perhaps playing on that good name; even if only a little. Any fan "blowing in your face" will feel cooling... same as flapping a sheet of paper in front of your face or a pretty ornately folded "sheet of paper" called a hand fan. This "fan" from Dyson is a thing of absolute beauty and my wife wanted one - it's so beautiful and says it's a cooling fan... After a chat, we've decided a paper fan will suffice and we are going to give the cost difference to someone else to help them get through the next few weeks a little easier. We are no more out of pocket and someone else actually does feel "cooler" we hope. I think I am becoming a little disenchanted, a little jaded, by "the latest tech". I'm starting to wonder if there is more to life than "stuff". Not sure. I know had much less stuff, certainly techie stuff, in the "olden" days and seemed to be "happier"... less stressed. Perhaps I am remembering it all wrong. Perhaps knowing neighbours and shopping locally where the shopkeepers knew me was not as pleasant as I'm remembering; I mean, it did mean if I weren't happy with something I could go tell the human that provided the service or thing that I was unhappy. Perhaps buying online and only really interacting via a device is better though... It must be... surely... I have been doing it for more than 20 years... surely this is a better world than before.

    my biggest question is here,
    This device vs an actual Airconditioner
    How well does it cool my room.
    If it just blows air around like an ventilator then i can just buy an ventilator.
    But if this actively cools then this might be a great item for me since i dont have space for a Airconditioner.
    So i need to find an item to cool my rooms in my house without basicly an Airconditioner
    So im kinda hoping this dyson does the trick i just wanna know if its realy good at cooling the air.

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  Před 3 lety +3

      To an extent it will cool, but it mainly speeds up the air in front of the fan giving the impression that it is cooling the air. I wouldn't want to say it will cool the room like an air conditioner does as it doesn't, but compared to a normal fan it is a lot better.

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  Před 4 lety +3

      Dyson call it a cooler but it does just move the air in front of the fan. With any fan type product it can only accelerate the air from the temperature of the room it is in.

  • @Rondoggy67
    @Rondoggy67 Před 4 lety +5

    This is a fan. It does NOT cool the air that it blows out, and it does NOT cool the room.

    • @diodoruscronus
      @diodoruscronus Před 3 lety +1

      Actually I've got one. It does cool.
      If you're unsure of how the tech works, research pressure expansion.
      Why is breath cold when you blow in an 'o' but warm when you breathe out with a wide mouth? ... The breath is cold because it comes out of your mouth under pressure and once it leaves your lips it expands, drawing heat from its surroundings. Whereas blowing out with your mouth more open does not compress the air.

    • @Rondoggy67
      @Rondoggy67 Před 3 lety

      @@diodoruscronus You do know that what you are saying is nonsense, right? The coming effect you are describing is not due to pressure expansion at all, but let's pretend that it is and analyse what you are saying about fans,
      The air that is being very, very slightly "compressed" and "expanded" by one of these Dyson type fans is still in the same room, so the net effect of compression and expansion will not cool the room. In fact, because there is an energy input to "compress" the air, and that energy is conserved, the overall effect will be a small temperature rise. Also, the pressure expansion effect after the very, very mild compression created by a Dyson type fan will be minimal, so it is irrelevant.
