I have dug borewell and open well in my plot in Mangalore. My problem is the water table is very high. I got water in open well at 25 feet and borewell at 85 feet. The roof top water can handle only one month after that it over flows. I know I am lucky but my heart morns when that over flow water goes waste. Appreciate if you can give me any idea as I dont want to allow single drop of water to flow as its clean.

I was waiting for a desi version of the DW channel and thank God you've filled the role. I really don't want to watch or subscribe to DW as I'm concerned about their sources of funding. While I agree with the system, I don’t agree with the ‘ancient wisdom’ bit. Open wells were the only technology available for ancient people anywhere in the world except rivers and canals. Even if they were ‘unwise’, they couldn’t dig borewells, construct dams, setup rainwater harvesting or collecting water from atmospheric moisture, because the technology was not there.

There are many ancient stepwells all over Bharat ,ignored,left unattended and dirty.These heritage and useful infra is dying.
