    You may have seen "tests" with just the sprinkler, or the sprinkler, water and a lighter, even a burning rag on a stick, but none show a close up, with a real uncontrolled fire close up, mine does.
    Yes, the water flow is not as high as you would find on a commercial sprinkler system.
    Before you start whinging, why don't you try to do this, it's not as straightforward as it looks.

    Yes, it is low pressure, I made this video in 2013, I used all that I had at the time (Pipe and a hose) no pump. If you want me to do it again (with pump) please buy me several coffees, buymeacoffee.com/bluecylinder if not stop complaining.

      Low pressure isn’t really a problem depending on what area the sprinkler needs to cover. The only real issue I saw if you can even consider it an issue is how long it took for the sprinkler to go off, but a smoke detector with fire alarms tied together should get everybody out anyway, many different systems work differently. Thanks for showing the test!

    even with that low pressure that sprinkler still put out the fire. BOOYAH!

    Nice demonstration regardless of pressure. What this does show, is how quickly heat can dissipate without a ceiling to trap it. Heads are required to be installed within a certain distance of the ceiling/roof so that a fire doesn't have that much time to spread. Honestly, I was surprised at how long it took to go off.

    The pressure is too low yes for a commercial or industrial design, but is absolutely fine for the demonstration. So, be fore you start whining about "water pressure" shut up. Face it. It's a demonstration. Cool vid btw blue

    I said this TWO YEARS AGO, but some of you do not read previous comments, so I will try again.
    You can all whinge that the sprinkler is upside down, or that the pressure is too low etc, but I say this to you.
    YOU try and make a better video then I did with almost no money to do it.
    If some one wants to send me a 240v ac pump / tower to raise water tank, more fittings, pipe work and a water tank then I will gladly make another video. I will even "feature you" in the video. So until then, just enjoy the clip for what it is.

    Since the "experts" can only whinge I will try again.
    I made this video way back in 2012 (7 years ago) I had no money to buy a pump or other "parts" I used what I had sitting around (Garden hose and some odd copper pipe) The fire was in an old BBQ just under the sprinkler. I could not have the sprinkler up "The correct way" as the flames would have melted the hose, I could not reposition the sprinkler as I only had a short piece of straight copper pipe. So please stop whining and enjoy the video for what it is, or better still get off your bum and YOU make a video with what you have, and don't buy anything and then see how your video turns out.
    Speaking of money, if you want to see it done properly it takes money, you can now put money where your mouth is and support me by buying me a coffee (or more) Please help support this channel, buy a coffee www.buymeacoffee.com/Q9Pj8HRcM

  • @bluecylinder
    @bluecylinder  Před 11 lety

    You said the sprinkler is upside down. Think about it. If it was the other way up how would it work in this case?
    Also the majority of fire sprinklers are like this one, pointing down. Only if they are near a solid / non flammable ceiling do they point up.

  • @bluecylinder
    @bluecylinder  Před 11 lety +2

    Before you whinge "The pressure is too low, or its not real life" To that I say. "Why don't you buy all the parts, set it up and see what happens, no, don't talk about it, just try it, its not as easy as you may think."

  • @reiokimura6519
    @reiokimura6519 Před 8 lety +3

    I still think it takes quite long for it to work, maybe if someone designed it into a strings that can caught fire easily?

    • @bluecylinder
      @bluecylinder  Před 8 lety +1

      You say you think its slow, and would strings not be better?
      1) Strings would rot and break over time
      2) If you used wires instead of stings, how would a fire set them off?
      3) If wires could work, would they not be easier to set off by some one carrying say a ladder?
      4) The first sprinklers used a solder joint to melt, so these glass bulbs are faster, and they are better than nothing at all.
