I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, hiding in the corner in the seasonal aisle! We are at the Goodwill at Rainbow and Alta here in Las Vegas and I have my Thrifting Vegas blanket and my reuseable shopping bags ready. For future reference, the bowl with the cut out “swoop” is a knitting bowl. A ball of yarn(wool) is placed in the bowl and the end being used is threaded through the cut out. This keeps the yarn ball from rolling around when being used. Big ones like the one you found are great for knitters! 😊

Back in Zimbabwe, we often kept candles in the fridge or freezer in the hot weather. They would burn for longer when wax is cold. Also wouldn't lose their shape.

Tiffany - I work for a National Property Management Company with the Corporate Office located in Las Vegas. I live in South Carolina but, I am being flown to Las Vegas in May for training. I plan on stopping by a couple of thrift stores and Goodwill. I can’t wait!

J Peterman was a real company with a famous catalog during the 70s. They described every item at length, in wild, creative detail. It was fun to read. It made the transition into Seinfeld world fairly easily.

The hole in the ceramic bowl is for yarn. The thread rolls out through the slit, sparing the ball of yarn rolling away on the floor. It makes the knitters life easier.

I'm amazed at the number of Goodwill stores and thrift shops in Vegas. Here in Rhode Island we have a 3 pretty sad Salvation Armys and 2 Goodwills and about 5 thrift shops, no estate sales . We'd have to depend more on flea markets or yard sales. I'd find more stuff to sell from inside my house.

I got a kachina at savers in Santa Fe, and it was $6.99. I thought I’d hang it on my deck as it looked a little weathered, needed repair and had hideous dyed feathers. But I thought he’d look good guarding my deck. I work in a Santa Fe gallery on the plaza and my boss’s picker was coming in, so i thought I’d get his opinion before hanging it outside. His eyes got big and he said, “I can get you $500 today for that!”. My arm must’ve made a flame as I pushed it to him and said “here, take it!”. Which means he probably sold it for $1500, or more to a collector.. And when he came back with my cash, he said it was on the way to a “kachina hospital” to restore it. But great return on something I had just bought to hang on my deck. Thank you for your great informative videos!

I had a pair of J Peterman Women's Trousers which fetched a nice sum. I had never heard of this maker before but the quality was unmistakable and now I guess they make pitchers too!
