Tbh I’m sick of waiting on Stipe, he fights once every 18 months. The winner of this should get a title shot
Jon will probably fight Stipe and then dip
Same. I love Stipe he’s one of my all time favorite fighters but enough is enough.
Agreed. Stipe doesn’t stand a chance vs Jones either
Guys we all know Jones beats Stipe what we want to see is Blaydes or Pavlovich next for the belt
You're not wrong, but let's be real, there are very few Heavyweights that fight very often. Most of the Heavyweights fight once *_maybe twice_* a year, if your lucky.
I think the fans are ready for Sergei. He's the heavyweight they're dying to see right now. Sure, it would be amazing if Jon fights him or Francis fights him but however his day comes, I think everyone is ready for it. I'd sure gain a lot of respect for Jon if he fought him. I don't know dangerous Tom is honestly but 14 of your 17 wins first round KO's sounds pretty dangerous to me and he's not afraid to fight on the ground. Another thing scary about Sergei is that cardio. If he gets you hurt he'll throw 100 punches without hesitation to get you out and not be tired when it's done.
@Jim just like Cereal Gone was going to do
@Jim lol not true at all. A heavyweight version of khabib or even khamzat would maul pavlovich. Ion cutelaba has a background in combat sambo but he's nowhere near winning a belt. Pavlovich is getting wins by knockouts, not pure wrestling.
@Jim also Jones chin has never even been cracked. There's literally no indication that pav would ko him lol
Fair point, but Jon is also new to the HW division and his chin hasn't been tested by large men with heavy hands. Pavlovich has the grappling abilities to shake him off and it could be a really tough fight. I won't miss that figgt for sure.
Francis will never be back in the UFC
Chael is the ultimate fight commentator. Even when he is not commentating.
Pavlovich will sleep Curtis. The way this dude ran through tuivasa and lewis was scary
Bingo🎉
I think you're right tbh.
I don't think Sergei has good striking. He just throws haymakers. There's no feints or setups. He's not making reads or using footwork. The guys he's beating aren't great. They're not. I think Blaydes weathers the storm and pieces him up. And he's definitely not good enough to even compete with John Jones.
@Brandon Hosier Sergei has a really intimidating attribute. 84' reach and very terrifying boxing. You need to watch his previous fights. He was too fast for Lewis and a jab busted up Tuivasa. Blaydes is an interesting match up, I been waiting to see how well he does with an elite grappler.
@@livefreeordieish yeah and like Derrick Lewis is good at striking? He had enough to beat Blaydes. why can't Pavlovich
Jon being active is fighting for 30 seconds then hanging out for another year. People satisfied with that are just weird to me.
did you not witness the run he had at LHW?
@@XBlack-oc6xt he did but of course he just ignores it because that's what's easy to do for fans that are as fickle as he is.
Jon and most of the Heavyweights and LHWs just don't like to fight very often. It's kinda frustrating because if it was up to them, they'd fight once a year, *_maybe twice_* a year if your lucky, but just as often they'll go 15-18 months without fighting. Back in the old days with the early UFC, Pancrase, and Pride, those guys fought multiple times a night, or two weeks apart. These guys now are just not made of the same stuff.
It hasn't even been 6 months since he beat ciryl so we don't know how often he'll defend.
@@RonniePTexan you're ignoring the fact that most commissions do not allow fighters to fight as frequently as they were back in the day especially in places like the u.s.
Chael: Nobody has ever done anything to help Curtis Blades
Blades’ parents: 😮
🤣🤣
@@benrochford5427 That smiley at the end. LOL
@@zi326 init man.... Floored me while I was laying down 🤣🤣 fucking belter of a comment
I think pavlovich beats every heavyweight right now. When he blitzes I don't think there's anyone alive that can overcome that
I like how he just talks into the camera like he is doing a confession 😂
I'm excited for this fight honestly. Both are underrated and Sergei got that power probably the most power and hardest hitter in the weight class and both are up and coming. I hope winner faces Jones after Jomes vs Stipe then Jones face Francis as his actual last fight either in March (his return fight month full circles typa thing), International fight week or MSG (like Jones wants)
Kinda arguable whether Blaydes would be considered "up and coming", he's had his title shot and came up short, to a lot of people he's kinda seen as a gatekeeper. Whether you agree with that personally or not, it's definitely a mixed bag as far as people's perception. Pavlovich will almost definitely be in line for a title shot if he wins, but it's not as much of a slam dunk if Blaydes wins.
Keep dreaming, jones gonna retire before fighting pavlovich or curtis😓.
Curtis hasn’t done well against heavy heavy punchers, but other than Jon Curtis is the most well rounded talent in the heavy division.. I think he would give Jon his hardest challenge.
@@markzuckergecko621 Blaydes has never had a title shot ... what are you talking about
Jones won't fight Sergei, youre absolutely crazy and delusional
People criticise colby for sitting out then coming back for a title fight, atleast colby got a win in between, last time we seen stipe he was brutally kod by someone who is no longer in the UFC. Stipe does not deserve the title and u cant criticise colby getting the fight if u want stipe to fight jones
i want to see jon vs sergey
dont upset the stipe fanboys. facts make them whine. stipe hasnt won a fight in 3 years
You're not wrong... The Holloway fans and the Whittaker fans would be screaming for a title shot if Volk or Izzy lost the belt. The Colby haters are a special breed of hypocrite..
THANK YOU!!!!
I’ve been asking for months why at a crushing 17-1, nobody is talking about this man in the heavyweight championship landscape.
Because he is 5-1 in the UFC, and 3 of those wins came within the last year, and 1 was against Lewis, who, let's be honest, has been fading for some time. Additionally, the most recent was against Tuivasa, which immediately looks good; however, when you really dig into this win, he fought Tai when Tai should NOT have fought so soon after a total war with Gane. Where he absorbed a crazy amount of damage, 110 sig strikes with 64 to the head and 30 to the body. He fought precisely 3 months after that fight, estimated to have a fight camp length of 6-8 weeks, putting him training 1.5 months after that initial knockout. It would be best to have more time for your brain to recover. Now, with all that said, Sergei is still finishing everyone they put in front of him, and if he dispatches Curtis the same way, he better be looking at a title fight for his next fight. Just my opinion on why he isn't getting a lot of title-shot love.
@@jacobf.487 You make some valid points. You're not wrong. But the real problem is what -Uncle- _Lord_ Chael tells the fighters over and over, that they need to talk. They need to tell their story. They need to call people out. They need to build their fights. Everyone assumes Chael means talk trash, but he's made it very clear- *_JUST TALK_* and tell your story.
Pavlovich was a +140 underdog last night!!!! Hope you boys got your bets in!!
That’s 6 straight first round TKO/ KO’s all CRUSHING victories!! And within a few days everyones on board.
The winner fights next for the title. No questions.
I think Pavlovich will knock the whole Heavyweight division out and UFC would realise there is nobody else to give him other than Brock Lesnar.
Brock lesnar? Bitch they might as well give him george foreman
Brock don't stand a chance against Pavolich
Uncle Chael with the DB Cooper Esque thumbnail pictures. He makes no mistakes 😂
I believe that Sergei wants to lap the field! Then no one can stop him from the title fight!
In the jones vs Stipe fight we may see one or both retire at the end of that fight, now that makes this fight that more important. We can see Tom Aspinal fight someone around the top 5 and winner takes on winner of Blades vs Sergey for either #1 contender or for vacant title.....
The Heavyweights need to get active. Most of them fight once a year, if that. If someone like Aspinal would get active, win a few fights over the next year, he would skyrocket up the rankings and become massively popular. We'll see if he does get active, but if he's smart, that's the way to take over the Heavyweight division right now
Sergei is da reason Nganou left UFC 260lbs of white steel
Nope whiteboy
i like Pavlovich but his fans are so casual. Pavlovich was so far down in the rankings to notice.
That's right
@@MelleGamers Curtis will get KTFO very violently this weekend, black boy! 84" reach!
The Russian vs Jon would be huge - bigger then Francis vs Jon, imo.
Nope. Let’s see Pavlovich get through blaydes first. Francis annihilated blaydes twice, and would do the same to Sergei.
@@michaelnadeau3238 Francis best weapon is his chin. Its the strongest chin UFC history. Sure he hits very hard but he is a brawler. He is not technical and his muscles dosen't mean shit. He can have big muscles and hits the hardest. But if his chian was average, he would've never even be In the conversation for a title shot.
@@michaelnadeau3238 imo - he will go through Blaydes. Styles make fights and Blaydes does not do well against big punchers. Francis will never fight Jon, partially pride and partially due to lack of trust the promotion has in him. Plus Jon would destroy Francis, as always he has a punchers chance - but you dont get better after knee surgery closing in on 40. Plus Jon has a longer reach and would crowd him fast, he would overwhelm Francis.
The fight i have wanted to see is Stipe v Jon - as Stipe has the best shot at HW as he is the most well rounded, a much harder out. After that if Jon prevails Jon v Russian does huge numbers.
@@matrixxx3662 so if Francis wasn't Francis, he wouldn't be good?. Dumb take.
@@SuperJJParker If Francis 2.0 had an average chin, he would get outboxed by a technical striker and would lose 9 out 10 times.
Curtis said he wouldn’t fight Jon Jones for less than 2 million dollars so Sergei gets a title shot or Curtis fights Tuivasa.
Where did he say that? That doesn't sound like Curtis at all.
@Illuminated by The Most High Guy literally only cares about the title. I would bet if he ever wins it will just retire without a defense. And this guy will literally fight anyone who will get him that belt. I think the guy is lying but I'm open to evidence.
@Illuminated by The Most High If Francis returns to the UFC, I.dont think he would even get half of what he asked initially. It would just be an embarrassment.
@Illuminated by The Most High
Yes. Let’s pay fighters less money while Dana received millions of dollars worth of bonuses.
Great logic.
YESSSSS!!! Thank you Chael! Was waiting for this
I'm really interested in this one. Blaydes has only lost to the biggest power punchers, and Sergei has impressive power.
ngannou had 1 punch ko power. pavlovich doesn't have that yet
And Sergei also got taken down and schooled by a out of date overroid
@@briscoesjug1026 true but that was 5 years ago... I wouldn't be surprised if he's better now.
I like both but it's better for the HW division for Sergei to win since he brings the power excitement in an already powerful division and ofcourse is a fresh top contender.
I didn’t even know I needed uncle chael at 8am but here we are
Lewis is an amazing talent, but he was killing the HW division as a gatekeeper
And Lewis is one of the *_ONLY_* Heavyweights who fights more than once a year! He fights 2 or 3 times a year and stays active, win lose or draw. I'll always respect Derrick Lewis for being ready to fight anyone at any time and never saying no to a fight. He's the only Heavyweight to do that.
Who else laughed when Chael paused after he said he got the jump on the black beast? lol
Haha not only that but I went back to remind myself of these 30 and 40 second fights against ngannou he likes to talk about. Their first fight ngannou was getting the better on the feet for two rounds but blaydes was still getting takedowns and control time. Doctor stoppage after R2 for blaydes’ swollen eye.
The rematch was the 40 second tko. Pretty good stoppage because it wasn’t looking good but Blaydes was still tryna get to his feet when Goddard called it.
The black beast def starched him tho. Lol
Pavolvich By KO
Blaydes, Simon, Tavares, Green.
Book em. 24-11 in '23.
6.02
That part was so funny and so true.
Chael, you're so smart. Too smart. Yes, I do want to see people punch and kick each other and who gets tired first. HW division could use more of that
The stipe and Jones fight needs to be in the summer. Their both heavyweights, Jon isn't injured from his last fight and Stipe has been out for too long already. It would be stupid to book it any later.
Heavyweights and LHWs are the most boring and lazy fighters on the planet. Most fight every 12-18 months. Once a year is a big deal to them. A few, like Derrick Lewis, stay active and fight 2 times a year, but he's rare. They are content to sit back, hide under a rock, never do media or social media, and rarely fight. It's a sad contrast to the early UFC days, Pancrase, or Pride days.
The thumbnail got me thinking I am about to watch a documentary about them
Sergei gonna flatline Blaydes
I cant even imagine pavlovich knocking jones out but then again he might make quick work of blaydes
Is nobody going to mention chaels knew beginning pose?
Uncle Chael. Sure we love a good matchup. The thing is since we have a card EVERY week we look at the Total card. Not just one fight. There are several cards the past couple of years with one decent fight and we just dont care
How’s your week been uncle Chael?
Whats the weight difference tho
Wait, who’s fighting? And when?
#1 Contender fight, no doubt. Also, 2 top 5 opponents & the winner not getting the next title shot pop quiz answer would be Holloway over Allen, no?
Why does the thumbnail look like wanted posters from the 1930s 😂
If Blaydes wins I don't think much happens because Blaydes has been top contender forever but just isn't any good at generating hype or interest and UFC and Jones will continue to ignore him. But if Sergei beats Blaydes that would be huge because then you'd have a guy with Francis-level power who is good enough to beat the division's top wrestler and that would be an enormous story.
Sergei definitely does not have Francis level power but he hits pretty hard.
@@GeneralXal his boxing is much better though
Yo Chael Sonnen hit the nail right on the head. Did you have a background in construction or carpentry before you became and the MMA fighter?
Jones, Gane, Ngannou, Blaydes, Aspinall, Tai, Lewis, Stipe, and both Sergeis. That's 10.
Also we just had two top five fighters match up where the winner, Holloway, won't get a title shot unless Yair beats Volk.
I can’t tell if chael realized mid sentence he was wrong about balydes and Lewis or if it was planned for dramatic effect lmao
I’d say one of them fights Gane, or one of them fight Jones so people actually know who they are, so when Jones retires the heavyweight division won’t be a bunch of no names
WADDUDP CHael.. IMMA TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENS.. BIG PAVLOVICH WIL BE THE TALK OF THE TOWN AND JON JONES AND FRANCIS HAVE SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Yeah , we watch every weekend
I think that every UFC fighter needs to fighter at least once or maybe twice a year or be cut and have to work back up the top 15 rankings if they come back. I like seeing Stipe and Colby fight but to have an "active" fighter who fights less then once a year is dumb.
The greatest fighter to ever walk the earth, Chael P sonnen.
I found video and photos of Pavlovich weighing in 😂
6:15 Yes. Yes we do.
Winner of this fight deserves it for sure I didn’t know Curtis was on streak too I’m excited for this fight I personally feel like it’s Sergei run right now think he wins ko/Tko early rounds and I wanna see him get tittle shot
Day 2 of asking Chael to say Pereira instead of Piera
All respect earned for stipe and the line of work he does. However he is very inactive. Win or lose he wont be in the cage again for over a year. Oddly it's the same for jones but he might just retire on the w
When Pavlovich wins he should be next for the title.
Yes Chael we like to see top guys beat the stuffing out of each other for no reason beyond a cash prize. That's what prize fighters do you know this being the smartest guy in any room.
Pavlavic is db cooper
The Heavyweight division is so messy. Then with Jones talking about retiring after 1 fight. Smh
I’m actually more excited for this fight than any others in recent memory
🧢
Let's just be honest- In sad contrast to the early UFC days, Pancrase, or Pride days, the current group of Heavyweights and LHWs are content to hide under a rock and refuse to fight very often. Derrick Lewis is one of the few exceptions. Most don't do media, don't do social media, and fight every 12-18 months. As a long time MMA fan, I've been witness to a decline in the fighting spirit.
Curtis or sergei should come out for some media and self proclaim this fight is for the ufc heavyweight title. They can go on to explain jon and stipe are both done, retiring eachother whenever they agree to fight because they're scared of the rest of the competition
I don't understand how Jones got the title shot, a clear mismatch like he was handed the belt
$$$$$$$
Chael is speaking facts!!!

Most likely fighting for a vacant title at the end of the year or early next year. Regardless of how Jones vs Miocic goes.
The thumbnail looks like a “wanted poster two fugitives on the run”
I am picking Curtis for the win.
Chael, winner gets intercontinental heavyweight championship belt, a belt they will have to defend. Have other belts, have fun with this stuff. Helps the freakin log jams too.
Man those black & white pics of Pavlovich and Blaydes makes me think of some like Wild West wanted posters 😂 too much rdr2 in my life I guess
Time to see if Sergei has improved since Overeem
He has but he hasn’t showed alot. Blaydes is gonna be someone who will test his limits.
@@GeneralXal hard to show ur wrestling when all ur fights are 45 seconds 😂😂
@@TheChandy98 yeah that’s why I said blaydes will test his limits.
@@GeneralXal unless he gets starched 1st round again
Sergei should be the next fight for Jon if he wins. Stipe's hasn't fought in 2 years and his best days are likely behind him. Sergei on the other hand is on a 5 fight win streak, all first round finishes. He's younger than Jon, and they have the same reach. Would be a fun fight and worth the PPV price even if the rest of the card was weak.
Curtis should rematch Aspinall or fight Gane.
They are not making that fight unless they can ensure Jones wins. Jones is poster boy of the UFC, and their greatest asset. They are planing the last perfect fight for him. They made sure he won the heavyweight title. And now they are making sure he defends it before retires. If he loses, Dana loses money. Both Francis and Stipe wanted to fight Jones. But since UFC had other plans, they wanted more money, and rightly so.
@@matrixxx3662 If that's the case, that's really disappointing. Jon facing off against aging legends as a rookie was how he became a star of the sport. Now that he is an aging legend himself, the right move is to use him to build the future stars.
@@MB-wp2px Yes, but Its a new weight class, and he has no losses on his resume. He also moved up In his late In his 30s. Which will not gurantee at all that he will keep his perfect record. Right? Like +8 ape index? Insane reach
They are almost the same , Jones is better by half an inch though.
If Colby Covington can walk right into a third title shot having not beaten a single top 15 welterweight, I see no reason both these men couldn’t qualify for a title shot before even fighting each other
Neither of them talk as much as Colby. Let's not act like this sport is purely based on consistency and meritocracy.
@@markzuckergecko621 but Colby can't talk. Colby stumbles over his words more than Curtis and he has a legit speech impediment 🤦🤣 Colby doesn't sell either. Without a title or PPV star he is a tight night main event.
