Lew has a voice that makes me feel good, even if i don't feel well. He takes me into a beautiful world, separate from the real world, and for a while everything is ok.
Really appreciate you providing this video. Lew Dewitt was great. I understand that the Statler Brothers had to move on without him due to his illness, but Lew contributed significantly to their success.
Thanks for sharing this song! I have the album somewhere. Can't listen to is with no turntable. Lew Dewitt was a great songwriter and had a wonderfully unique voice!
What a thrill for me today when I discovered that this album, and particularly this song, had finally been put on CZcams!!! I bought the album when it came out those many years ago, but have not heard it in ages. I still have it and also have the means to play my vinyl yet, but it is just so much more convenient to play it on here while I am looking at other things on the internet. Thanks a million...I really LOVE this song, and Lew was always my favorite Statler, too.
i was just thinking about this song and i had to come on to hear it again. i had the original album years ago, and i dearly loved this man enough to purchase it when it came out. he was my favorite of the statlers, and his voice is incredible. i often think of the statlers and how lucky they were to have lew as a member. i miss him.
I love Virginia and sometimes raise a glass And toast her future and celebrate her past I could leave tomorrow and it wouldn’t change the fact I love Virginia and I’d be coming back I went to Georgia a place that’s done me right But I missed Virginia and couldn’t sleep at night Then I tried Texas Saskatchewan and Nome But I missed Virginia and wanted to come home I love Virginia her every rock and ledge I climb her mountain to rest upon her ridge If she should need me where ever I may roam I love Virginia and I’d be coming home Sweet California once lured me to her shores At first I thought I had walked through heaven’s doors I sure liked Frisco and sunny warm LA But I love Virginia and couldn’t stay away I loved the woman she fit me like a glove Her home was Tulsa a place I dearly love She said I’d lose that if I walked through that door But oh Virginia I think I love you more I love Virginia her every rock and ledge I climb her mountain to rest upon her ridge If she should need me where ever I may roam I love Virginia and I’d be coming home I love Virginia and I’d be coming home
The very best tenor in country music. RIP Lew.

RIP, Lew. You and your voice are now with the angels.
He passed on the day I turned 28. I always feel a bit sad on my birthday now.

Hi!, could someone please passme the lyrics of this fantastic song. I'm from Argentina and I can not find the lyric and I'd like to know. Thanks
I love Virginia and sometimes raise a glass
And toast her future and celebrate her past
I could leave tomorrow and it wouldn’t change the fact
I love Virginia and I’d be coming back
I went to Georgia a place that’s done me right
But I missed Virginia and couldn’t sleep at night
Then I tried Texas Saskatchewan and Nome
But I missed Virginia and wanted to come home
I love Virginia her every rock and ledge
I climb her mountain to rest upon her ridge
If she should need me where ever I may roam
I love Virginia and I’d be coming home
Sweet California once lured me to her shores
At first I thought I had walked through heaven’s doors
I sure liked Frisco and sunny warm LA
But I love Virginia and couldn’t stay away
I loved the woman she fit me like a glove
Her home was Tulsa a place I dearly love
She said I’d lose that if I walked through that door
But oh Virginia I think I love you more
I love Virginia her every rock and ledge
I climb her mountain to rest upon her ridge
If she should need me where ever I may roam
I love Virginia and I’d be coming home
I love Virginia and I’d be coming home
